Even Rahm Emmanuel, who is Jewish, but running for president in a pro-Hamas party, announced that it's time for the US to stop funding Israel. So Fetterman is okay with all of this, as long as they give him plausible deniability and not make it "official." Lacks the rich. New York's share of US millionaires dramatically declined in recent years, causing a nearly $11 billion loss in much-needed tax revenue in just one year, according to a bombshell new analysis. The study released Monday by the Citizen Budget Commisison comes amid fears that socialist Mayor Zohran Mamdani's push to "tax the rich" will drive even more wealthy taxpayers and their businesses out of New York City. Even before Mamdani took office, the Empire State's share of the nation's millionaires dipped from 12.7% to 8.7% between 2010 and 2022 -- the largest decline of any state, according to the CBC's Competitive NYS: Value Proposition Tracker dashboard. "New York's declining share of high-income taxpayers has meaningful consequences," the analysis states.

I hike a fair amount.
There aren't a lot of black people but there are a few at bigger trails/areas. Afternoon, news folken! I got the car's rear brakes done this morning, which took ninety minutes because the rear brakes include the electric parking brake. The system kept lighting up the "Service Brakes" light.
Finally my mechanic did the obvious. He disconnected and reconnected he battery. Problem solved. I had to re-enter the time and date; otherwise, nothing was lost. Maybe it was the nice suburban roads I was on, but after the work the Buick seemed to ride even more nicely than it did a couple of days ago. Ain't that always the way? All my comments to this engorged thread:
1. No one wants Don 'Smell my Finger' Lemon for anything, but particularly not for his skinny little effeminate self to lead our nation. 2. Rap. Just no. But relatedly, I saw a review that the real trojan horse was casting Ella (?) page because her character is a fool who is fooled by everyone about who she (he?) is. Anyway, the review made the movie sound quite based and a trick on Hollywood. 3. LA is worse than a 3rd world country. A 4th world city? 4. Mandami. He says socialists understand economics- so obviously this is intentional . Next step is definitely confiscation, but somehow I doubt the city government will be a benevolent landlord. I'm glad people are starting to call out the "gray and brown" palette modern movies seem to use all the time. They film night scenes in such a way that you can barely tell who the camera is focused on, and even indoor scenes, if they are not dim and shadowy, have one window in the scene with bright light bursting through it, so the people in the room are hard to see.

"The broadcast networks do not always carry a presidential primetime speech upon White House request, as decisions were made to bypass Joe Biden and Barack Obama addresses as well."
IIRC, I don't think the alphabet networks chose to carry Biden's infamous Reichstag Address in Philly during primetime. They probably knew how terrible it was going to be. The truth about it came out anyway. If Trump's address gets out on X/Twitter, it would have the widest possible distribution anyway. Posted by: Darrell Harris at July 16, 2026 05:59 PM (n0W6Z) 89

Rigged Question. Until the USSR fell ? Pravda was the only game in town. Which is EXACTLY my point. The foolishness of Trump - of all fucking people Trump - wanting to have one big moment where he'll break down all the election fraud. A ... he can't do it. Because he'll see a squirrel or something. He can't concentrate on a damn thing. And B ... you can't do this through One Big Media Moment. Because the Media still runs through NYC and LA. To do this would have taken a much longer effort. Casting choices are made for a ton of reasons -- artistic and commercial.
___________________________ Looking forward to the re-boot of "Conan the Barbarian" starring Paulie Shore. Apparently, the Director took an artistic approach. He's a minimalist who prefers clean, non-crowded movie theaters. And, the Studio is all in on the choice, because commerically, they desire a tax write-off. In his first time in the Director's chair, Peter Dinklage has bitten off quite a bit. BUT, insiders say his point of view only enhances the genre in that every shot faces upwards making Paulie Shore seem two feet taller than he really is. There's a story about Hannibal. We all know what a superb general he was; he led the Romans a merry chase all around Italy for almost twenty years, and never lost when the Romans made the mistake of letting him pick the ground. And he was only defeated when Scipio Africanus used some of his own tactics against him.
Well, he fled Carthage (the Romans wanted him as a war criminal) and traveled around the Mediterranean for some years. At one point he was invited to hear an academic speak on "the strategy and tactics of war." He sat politely through the whole thing. Then his friend asked, "What did you think?" Hannibal (translated into modern speech): "I've heard some old fools in my time, but this one really beats them all." re: "Nithya Raman's failed $60 million project to get people off the streets" entailing offering all the street bums free housing:
Her EXACT idea has already been tried several times, in California even, and UTTERLY FAILED every time it has been tried. Berkeley, some years back, basically offered free housing to any homeless person. But with ne provis: No drugs in thefree house. The proviso was necessary becuase if you allow drug, the houses almost immediately become "shooting galleries" where addicts shoot up, overdose, die, etc., and the city would have more lawsuits than it could handle for basically facilitating the death of these people. So: No drugs. Guess what happened? 99% of the street bums refused the free housing, but they'd much rather be free to take drugs and live on the street than get a free house but be forced to stop drugs. That's how addicted they are. The drugs are mre important than anything, even theirnow comfort. Sae program happened in Oakland, AND FAILED. Same program was tested in SF, AND FAILED. Elsewhere too. So along comes Nithya Raman saying, "Hey' I have a brilliant idea to solve homelessness! Offer them free housing!" SRLY??? Posted by: zombie at July 16, 2026 06:43 PM (Av6i5) 235

The Odyssey is a universal story.
Well, he's right on that. It is a pretty universal storyline in terms of all of the plotlines running through it. And if they had written something like "Inspired by Homer's Odysseus" then they could go all universal. But if you're looking at it as the actual Odyssey, then you should probably play true to the tribes, ethnicities, and ... well, physiques of the original. (Page looks like a wastrel who should be holding their bowl out, saying, "More, please, sir." Except even Oliver Twist is manlier than Page.) Posted by: GWB at July 16, 2026 06:49 PM (kU0PQ) 241

"All I see in advertising right now is blacks. Streaming, network TV, - it's amazing because there are very few blacks families in my neighborhood or city. Maybe there would be more around if the stopped killing their babies at Planned Parenthood.
Posted by: Rev. Wishbone The closest city to me has a 75% black population. At least half of them are not like the people you see on TV commercials. Posted by: fd at July 16, 2026 06:57 PM (MWfyi) 245
Wisconsin lost their claim to the UP. So the net loser in all of this was the Badger State. True to form.
------------- The UP is governed by idiots from Detroit, so they hardly came out a winner. Posted by: Victor Tango Kilo at July 16, 2026 06:58 PM (VscIk) Processing 0.04, elapsed 0.0462 seconds. |
