Trump: There's No Way I'm Stopping ICE Traffic Stops Just Because the Left Has Fully Embraced Violence As Its "Political Speech"
The stops are back on (if they were ever off).
President Donald Trump on Wednesday praised the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and disputed reports it would end traffic stops. He said that traffic stops are key to effective enforcement of immigration laws. "We must be strong, tough, and smart, and we CANNOT give up one of I.C.E.'s most important and effective Crime Fighting tools, THE TRAFFIC STOP! Once we do, we are playing right into the criminal's hands. The Radical Left Dumocrats would like to see this done, but it won't happen on my watch," Trump said on Truth Social. Several outlets on Tuesday reported that ICE would curtail agents stopping vehicles as part of the federal agency's nationwide deportation operation. The change in policy followed two fatal shootings of motorists involving ICE agents in one week.By the way, the man who was shot and killed while attempting to run down ICE in his vehicle was a Columbian immigrant.
The driver of the vehicle was killed in the incident and was identified as Joan Sebastian Guerrero, a Colombian citizen in his 20s. The Washington Post pointed out that Guerrero "entered the United States via the southern border in September 2023, a Department of Homeland Security spokesperson said in a statement, and received work authorization in May 2025."As I said, this is terrorism and insurrection. The left is asserting a general right to attack its enemies. In Point Pleasant, NJ, a woman slapped two kids for daring to wear MAGA and pro-ICE clothing. The woman is herself a foreigner -- a Canadian.
A leftist Canadian woman allegedly slapped a teen who was wearing President Trump-branded clothing on the Jersey Shore over the Fourth of July weekend -- before she was arrested and detained by immigration officials. Kaitlyn E. Tracey, 33, allegedly recorded herself confronting a group of four girls on the Point Pleasant Beach boardwalk when she became violent on July 3, according to court documents obtained by NJ.com. Tracey took issue with two of the beachgoers -- who are minors -- wearing "patriotic colored" sweatpants with the words "Trump" and "ICE" before she struck one of them across the face and body, police alleged.
Video surveillance captured Tracey's alleged assault before she left the scene but was identified by police who obtained an arrest warrant for her, the outlet reported.
She was arrested on Monday and charged with endangering the welfare of a child, simple assault, harassment and obstruction, according to court records viewed by The Post. The teen Tracey allegedly slapped was not injured. Tracey had been living in Asbury Park with her husband after she entered the US with a passport in 2024, according to the outlet.

Canadians don't need a specific visa/permit to come for a short term visit (shopping, visiting a friend for a couple of weeks, that sort of thing) but if they intend to rent or buy a house and take up residency, then hell yes they need a permit from the USCIS (formerly the INS) to do so!

So either they got married and stupidly didn't think they needed to get her permanent residency (aka "the green card") as a spouse with an I-130 + maybe an I-485, or they went through the process and she's a permanent resident legally, and she hasn't become a U.S. Citizen yet. (It takes time, you can't just do it instantly. It also costs quite a few thousand dollars to do.)
Either way, one thing you don't do is get in trouble with the law, at all before you reach full blown citizenship status. FFS, that's a fast-ticket to "Application DENIED" + "GTFO, Deported, LOL". Every legal immigrant knows this.

Every metric of deportations has exploded since Mullin took over from Noem.
He's gone quieter, but that just means Bovino doesn't get headlines about marching into cities. ICE is still there, picking people up, but they're moving in smaller bands and with less fanfare while picking up more and deporting at rates not seen...ever.
Deportation flights are roughly 2x what they were under Noem while holding times of detainees is down to 3-4 weeks from 6-8 early in Trump 2.0.

There is no feasible solution that gets everyone out in 5 days.
There are feasible solutions to get them out over the course of years, and the administration is pulling on every lever.
The most effective are going to be the new Treasury regulations that force banks to treat legal status as a financial risk, cutting even legal immigrants off from things like long-term loans (visa only good for 6 years max? no, you don't get a 30 year lone) to just simple banking accounts.
There's no sexiness to that stuff, so it gets ignored and forgotten, but cutting off illegals (and even some legals) from the American financial system is a huge incentive for them to leave. And it's just started.

I don’t like the cops, per se - because it will likely mean a ticket - however they must have the authority to make stops and check out who is on the road, who is in their jurisdiction.

Immigration can bar you from entry for up to 10 years, and you have to apply to have the bar lifted after that time, THEN you have to re-apply for lawful entry, and they can simply deem in "inadmissible" and turn you around at the border again.
Unofficially, they can mark your identification in the Customs and Border Patrol system in such a way that it's effectively a "Don't let this asshole in, ever." So you're just chronically "inadmissible".
