A raccoon once climbed my high pitch 3 story house, went down the chimney to the basement, climbed the stairs, opened the cabinet under my sink in the kitchen, and rummaged through the waste bin. Took the same way out. This went on for a number of days till I caught him in the act and fired 7 .22 bullets into him, without obvious effect, while chasing him down to the fireplace downstairs where he was trying to get out. He turned and screeched at me. I went out, reloaded and went back into the room; he had somehow climbed the wall and was between the floorboards, bleeding, where I unloaded on him again, closing the door behind until he dropped. Then waited some more. Tough little bastard. Then there's the carp I shot bowfishing and couldn't unscrew the arrow head so I pulled it out, along with a trail of guts. It flopped around, made it back to the water and swam away. True stories. Now you kids go to sleep and have sweet dreams. Posted by: Auspex at July 13, 2026 08:12 PM (Y8DZL) 70

Fantastic funny Looney Tunes bit! And agree that Chuck Jones should be given a posthumous Medal Of Freedom. I got to meet him in person when he was showing and selling prints in an SF art gallery. His autobiography, "Chuck Amok" had just come out so I fetched my copy along for an autograph while also wearing my ACME (featuring Wile E. Coyote) t-shirt and he was charmed, because everybody wanted to talk to him about Bug Bunny, but he didn't create Bug. He did create the Coyote and Roadrunner, they were his characters so he just lit up at the sight. He was a lovely man with a great sense of humor. He and Michael Maltese, teamed up with Carl Stalling, were an unbeatable combination!
