Sorry, it's been awhile. The first 2 pictures are of Deuce, who sadly had to be put to sleep when his cancer became too advanced about a month ago. The third is him with my black cat Mr. Sweetie, aka Murderboy - he is a prolific hunter. Then Murderboy outdoors, then Hattie Catty and Heidi. I'll try to be more frequent as time allows. I love your Pets thread, and AceOfSpadesHQ is the best website that there is. I'm mainly a lurker, when I do comment it is under the name Happy. Thank you.So sorry you have lost Deuce. A sweetheart. Thank you for everyone's pictures. And Spud looks very smart as long as he doesn't get distracted from those darn birds.

Afternoon, pet folken,
Murderboy looks much like my Stirling. Well, almost all black cats with no white look like all the others, don't they? Stirling has a medium-length coat, but otherwise they could be twins. The gray cat up top with the wide-eyed expression could be any cat who has spied something crawling up the wall that he wants to kill. The Horde is still mired in the gardening thread.
Posted by: Anna Puma at July 11, 2026 03:41 PM (4T3aT) 7
As for my furry thugs: doing well, both of them. Little Dagny is still The Cat Who Walks by Herself and All Places Are Alike to Her (Except the Bedroom Window Where She Suns Herself Every Afternoon; That's Still the Tops).
Stirling is still my buddy. Sleeps with me part of every night, and usually every afternoon. Today he was already on the bed when I went to nap. Darned if he didn't get up and resettle himself against me, like a puppy seeking its mother's warmth and heartbeat. Darn cat has gone and made himself The Favorite. Afternoon, Horde...How goes it?
Kaylee the Calico Kitty Cat (the cutest little cat of them all) has had a rough week. She hasn't been able to use the litter box very well. Had to take her to the vet to see if there were any major problems. Vet gave her a shot to help relax her muscles and she's on Laxatone (to help her go) and amoxicillin for antibiotics. Seems to be helping a bit since she did use her litter box yesterday and today. Posted by: "Perfessor" Squirrel at July 11, 2026 03:47 PM (FZ29D) 10
Gee, I wish girls would accept painted pebbles from me as a "Wow!" gift.

Vet? Reminds me, I need to bring my monsters in for their rabies shots, and maybe get some more flea treatment. They have not been hosting much in that department this summer, which as usual began in March. I haven't seen them on Dagny's face (her only short fur), or on me. Wonder what's different this year.

During the late Unpleasantness for cats and dogs, aka the Fourth of July with its fireworks, I gave my cats some calming chews. They're just melatonin, intended to make the animals relaxed. One chew per pound of body weight. Stirling gets fourteen, and Dagny eight or nine.
The stuff didn't seem to make much difference. Dagny does not usually get upset at short sharp noises in the distance anyway. Stirling seemed as edgy as usual at the noise, and disappeared under the bed. Posted by: Wolfus Aurelius, Dreaming of Elsewhere at July 11, 2026 03:54 PM (wzUl9) 16

Winnie was resigned to her role as a teacher. NR Pax I have heard that "bed fail" is a typical foible of Sight Hounds, for whatever reason. Posted by: CrotchetyOldJarhead at July 11, 2026 *** Stirling only started the "leap over The Human, kicking him in the process, at 3:45 am" earlier this year. If he'd been waking me an hour or more before the alarm when I was working, he'd have been spending his nights in the living room with the door shut. Fortunately he does not do it every morning. And sometimes I can get back to sleep afterward for thirty or even sixty minutes. When I do stagger out of bed early, I don't reward him -- I don't feed him or turn on his water tap until the regular breakfast time of six a.m. He has the water fountain, and I've seen him use it. My kitty, Bingley, usually sleeps next to my legs. He's a pretty good sleeping buddy. Doesn't walk on me while I'm sleeping, like other cats I've known. It's very nice in the winter. Less so in the summer, as he's rather like a large floofy heating pad. I'm grabbing a few favorite photos to send for next week's thread, as it will be his 8th birthday.

I thought I'd be clever and pick up the dogs water in the evenings before bed. They just go outside and drink from the pond. A few nights back, there was a ruckus outside and when I went out to investigate, the lil nugget dawg had treed a possum along the fence.

Hey, screaming, Our kitty, Spencer, does the leg sleeping thing too. Next to mine, won't pester the Mrs, just me. I think it's a territorial possession thing, as he works on getting my legs tossed off the bed through the night. Or, maybe it's just the 'keep my backside protected' ancient behavior. Hi all! On vacation a few days. Weather looking a little sketchy, we shall see. When home, everyone piles into the bed. They all find a spot and then there isn’t much room left, even in a king sized bed. When J is gone, Saijo takes his pillow and the kitties stay on that side of the bed.

Wot's this? I didn't nap late and miss my favorite furry threads? Skritches for all.
While Daughter & hub are traveling this week, we're dogsitting their two furry friends. Which is mostly okay. Except when one of them rolls in something nasty in the yard. Or decides to poop in house, as one does sometimes. Or, like last night, when they spend about two hours barking at the night in a very loud chorus. uggh But otherwise fun to have around. I did just get up from a nap. Kitty Ony likes to sit on top of me while I snooze. Which is fine. Except when her claws get around the protective blanket I have over me. Or she turns so her tail is wapping my face. But otherwise, a sweet old cat. Pets: They're a mixed bag, amirite? DH says he wants to come back as one of my dogs. There is an order of treats in the morning: first the milk bones, then the teeth cleaners, then a nice rawhide chewie. Before bed, it's fish oil capsules, which they bite so they taste "good," and then a few milk bone minis because they are very good dogs indeed.
They will remind me if I forget. Posted by: tcn in AK at July 11, 2026 05:31 PM (bl07w) 48

Posted by: Jimmy Doolittle --- I think Bing partly does it to try to pin me in the bed because he is between me and the side of the bed.
