Leftwing Judge Refuses to Sentence Former Judge Dugan to Jail for Helping Illegal Alien Elude Police, Won't Even Put Her on Probation

It's getting harder and harder to believe this country can be saved, or, frankly, should be saved, at least in its current configuration.

Who wants to fight for this?

Bill Melugin
@BillMelugin_

BREAKING: Former Milwaukee County Judge Hannah Dugan has been sentenced to no prison time after she was found guilty of obstructing ICE agents from arresting an illegal alien in a courthouse last year. Federal judge Lynn Adelman (Clinton appointee) has just ordered Dugan to pay a 5,000 fine instead of any time behind bars.

Prosecutors has asked for a sentence of 15-21 months.

"This is a situation where an otherwise good person upset by immigration enforcement in this country, a sentiment widely shared, made a bad decision in the moment," Judge Adelman said in court.

Judge Lynn Adelman finally showed his true colors in the Judge Hannah Dugan sentencing today in Wisconsin.

No only did he not sentence her to a jail term on a federal felony, he did not even put her on probation.

He departed downwards on the guidelines -- I don't know his justification yet -- and imposed only a $5000 fine for felony obstruction where she sent an illegal alien with armed federal agents waiting for him on a path to escape from them on a public street.

Adelman did her no favors in how he presided over the case in terms of his legal rulings, and he upheld the jury's verdict.

She will suffer professional consequences from the felony conviction.

But he let her off the hook entirely today in terms of the penal consequences for her conduct.

He's a left-wing nut job judge and has always been a nut job.

He showed it today.

9 "He departed downwards on the guidelines"

I suspect this will be appealed and reversed. Unless things have changed a lot since I was defending white collar crimes in federal court, the appeals courts are generally much stricter in following the sentencing guidelines than trial judges. That is true whether the departure is up or down.

The trial judge needs a really good reason to depart downward, and one that conforms to the guidelines for downward departure set forth in the code. The trial judge can't just pull it out of his asshole. Which is what this judge apparently did.

This sob story commie bullshit is not enough to justify a downward departure: "This is a situation where an otherwise good person upset by immigration enforcement in this country, a sentiment widely shared, made a bad decision in the moment," Judge Adelman said in court.

Fuck this cocksucker.

13 Said it for years, we have a Judge problem in this country.

There is no mechanism easily available to hold them accountable, for any action from the Bench.

Even the Supremes will only over rule them... not fire them.

That Judge Boasberg, who signed warrants to SPY on Politicians using the FISA Court, is still holding power over some of those same politicians?

The Constitution was set up to hold a balance of power, but Congress ceded their rule making power to the Courts almost 100 years ago... so the Supremes write rules which give the Courts more power... Power, corrupts.

Ace, I must disagree. It's a big win to have this bitchwitch even tried for the crime. She wouldn't have even been interviewed by the feds if this happened under Biden's DOJ, let along indicted.

So this is a big step forward. A very big step. Yes, we aren't there yet. This cuntface should have gotten time, and if I'm correct (see my comment above) the appeals judges will reverse the no-prison sentence.

The felony conviction most likely will mean the end of her law career. She's already resigned her judge seat. She threw most of her life away on a stunt for a filthy foreign invader who would have raped her in her sleep.

The problem is no matter what you set up, what system you put in place, what rules or support beams, or regulations, or lack thereof, there is ALWAYS a way to use a thing against itself.

It's called subversion and it's one of the principal tactics of the Left, because everything contains within, a mechanism which can be used to destroy itself.

Similarly we have a system called "judgment". Based specifically on a writ of impartiality. The Left says "I shall now use partiality and because of your worship of impartiality, you cannot keep me from enforcing my bias and will throughout your system.

There is no rule you can write that can keep it from being used against itself. Even the highest tyranny has a weak point.

76 The trial judge needs a really good reason to depart downward, and one that conforms to the guidelines for downward departure set forth in the code.

80 This whole case is so goddamn stupid I really cannot believe a jury bought it. It was painfully obvious to Dugan then and it's become even more obvious to everyone else since that ICE believes they can just do whatever they want. Dugan did what she did in the face of clear federal overreach.

I blame her defense. They wanted to push judicial immunity, when I think they should really pushed how stupid it was. The fact the "back door" led to the exact same hallway as the main door for example.

Excuse me? Illegal immigrant? The person was trying to go to court, through the process, hence why she felt compelled to intervene. We're calling asylum seekers and refugees illegal immigrants now just unabashedly?

That's from the Fox News Headline, "Former Wisconsin Judge Hannah Dugan avoids jail time for obstructing arrest of illegal immigrant." They have very little journalistic integrity and don't view migrants as human.

It’s such a farce if you consider who the people suing her for attempting to obstruct justice are and what they’ve been doing to justice in this country

88 "...upset by immigration enforcement in this country, a sentiment widely shared, made a bad decision in the moment..."

I like this new judicial theory: If a "sentiment is widely shared", like killing all the Muslims and Leftists or deporting with extreme prejudice illegal aliens, then the penalty for going about with whatever decision precipitates, is nothing.

I mean, "widely shared" in the immigration enforcement case is around what 20% of the 80% approval of the removal of criminal aliens? So in order to enact a genocide, a person only need to poll at 20% in order to earn the "widely shared" penalty exclusion clause?

Furthermore, what are the guidelines for legally recognized "sentiment"? Must it be strong all the way down to indifferent-except-on-days-without-coffee?

Boy, is THAT correct. Candace has unleashed a torrent of venom and odd timelines against Ben Shapiro in her X feed as the preliminary hearing apparently hasn't supported her Bee Cult theory.

And she is suggesting that Lance Twiggs is the person in the videos presented by the prosecution, because he is tall. Few questions from her supporters.

Like it or not, you usually get a cast of people too busy to pay attention to the news or that don't care to on the jury. What is the administration supposed to do otherwise?

Ask for impeachment from Congress? What 14 Democrat senators will vote to convict?

Remove their statutory authority? That's got to go through Congress.
