Remember foreign judge "Sparkle" Sooknanan? She claimed that it was unconstitution for Trump to check voter names against social security numbers to determine if they were eligible to vote.
She herself is a foreign citizen -- she has dual citizenship, and never renounced her foreign one, despite suggesting that she would if approved to be a judge -- so she's very invested in the idea that foreigners should rule United States citizens.Libs of TikTokBut not a Florida federal judge says "turn the machines back on." He himself was the judge in a case where states sued the DHS to secure the elections, and the consent decree reached by the DHS and the states was that these safeguards were to be implemented. A federal judge in Florida on Tuesday ordered the Department of Homeland Security to restore some of the key features of its Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements system, which states use to verify citizenship and immigration status for voter rolls. The ruling overturns a D.C. judge's ruling, who determined that the SAVE system's features, including a feature that allowed workers to verify citizenship status through a resident's social security number, violated the Social Security Act and Privacy Act by improperly aggregating and using Americans' personal data. The SAVE system was enhanced under the Trump administration to better support state election integrity efforts, including maintenance of state voter rolls. U.S. District Judge T. Kent Wetherell II ruled that the DHS violated a settlement with states, including Florida, by disabling the features. Wetherell approved the settlement last year and has maintained jurisdiction to enforce the settlement. "Defendants are plainly in violation of the settlement agreement because it is undisputed that they disabled the bulk-upload and SSN-search features that the agreement expressly required the SAVE system to have," he wrote in the order. "The fact that defendants disabled those features to comply with [the judge's] order does not change the fact that they violated the agreement." Wetherell determined that the features did not violate federal law, concluding the SSN-search functions align with 8 U.S.C. §1373, which overrides other restrictions on sharing citizenship or immigration status information, according to Florida's Voice News.

I think this is just conflicting rulings in different districts.
The conflict will necessitate resolution at higher levels faster.
I wouldn't expect it to go all the way to SCOTUS. The Appeals courts should side with the administration.

The founders would have never thought an elite branch like the Court would ever need that kind of discipline. Because they are all supposed to be top-of-their-game professionals, doing judge things.

This is exactly what Critical Legal Studies, by which the Democrats have loaded judicial benches with, wants and it is not enough to be passive and wait to whack the mole, appellate courts have to be aggressive and immediately vacate idiotic notions that district court judges have.

Scotus and appellate courts actually do--summary reversals and writs of mandamus. If it goes far enough, civil contempt of court which is the exception to the jury trial. And that includes jail time.
But what it does mean is that those judges have to actually do their jobs, not sally forth on lengthy vacays abroad etc. The original recess periods were for justices to go ride on circuit as trial judges, not to vacay for months.

That flipped as the Democrats became like the GOP, a minority party as the New Deal coalition collapsed. Suddenly it was all about judicial activism again, but praising the brave courts for knocking about the GOP.

It's another Supreme Court created problem.
Congress had laws about dual citizenship, making it illegal. Then the Supremes stepped in in 1965 making it legal, but not addressing all the political and legal problems that their ruling created.

The Republicans have a decent chance this year in Georgia as well. Kemp is an ahole, but the investigations by the Feds into the voting abnormalities in 2020 could keep the shenanigans to a minimum . Ossoff is a good campaigner but a lightweight

Well, they kinda did that with Justice Chase who was politicking while a Scotus judge. He got impeached and barely avoided conviction. During Jefferson's term.
But in a narrowly divided party system that rarely has supermajorities, you don't get removals much absent actual criminal charges and convictions of a judge. Even then, one of the last judges impeached and removed ended up serving in Congress for several decades before dying as he was not convicted at trial. Alcee Hastings.

If forced to put money on it, I'd probably bet on Ossoff. Incumbency + party out of power is a strong historical pattern towards victory.

Incumbents below 50 are usually vulnerable and teh last spit polling was Ossoff at 46 percent with a decent sized sample. He simply is a ghost to much of the state, Collins, on the other hand, to win the primary spent time all over the state in the last two years and beat two other good candidates in a primary AND runoff.
Plus, the federal GOP Senate committee may now coordinate with Collins and spend without limit to support him due to a recent Supreme Court decision. Independent groups cannot. So the DNC and its legislative party counterparts are hurting due to lack of fundraising for years.
But I wouldn't expect any kind of sweeping victory. 1-2 points.

One problem with dual citizenship is that even if we don't recognize it the other country does. UK is an example. You were always a British subject. Even if you came here and the US says sorry we don't recognize that. Britain still did. That's changing for white people, but it's just an example.

These trucking companies operate out of empty offices. The insurance on the trucks is routinely canceled. If they sense trouble, they start a new company and mive the trucks around. The guy posting the Substack work in the industry. He pulls the records on the companies involved in these wrecks. And they are involved in multiple wrecks. The post I linked to this morning showed a company that listed a dead driver as one of their executives. Ever try to serve papers on a dead guy? The drivers are a small part of the problem.

If you must bother about polling results, learn to avoid any media polling as those are pushed out to a narrative to push on air, not for accuracy until perhaps the last week or so.

District jurists LARP. Appeals court jurists have a higher tendency to actually just and be judges. SCOTUS slapping them down did have an effect.

And btw, a similar situation arose in the 7th Circuit where Florida sued the American Society of Pediatricians or some such over tranny conversions and taht Society, hqed in Chicago promptly got an order from a local district judge quashing the lawsuit. 7th Circuit also in Chicago bitchslapped the local district court and the lawsuit will proceed in Florida federal district court.
Appellate courts tend not to be amused when district judges create more emergency work for them by ignoring clearly established guidelines of jurisdiction and staying in their local lane.
