(We’ll wait while our Scottish ancestors roll over in their graves.) But don’t mind them—Scotch doesn’t need to be fussy or only consumed neat in a Glencairn glass beside a pipette of water. That’s especially true when you’re dealing with an easygoing blended Scotch like Buchanan’s 12-Year. The 80-proof whisky has a light profile that’s full of orange, honey and mild chocolate, and it mixes well with fruit juices like citrus and pineapple. You can score the refreshing drink at stadium concessions, bars and fan zones throughout the World Cup, or make it yourself for at-home watch parties. *** How to make the Buchanita cocktail No one wants to play mixologist at their World Cup watch party. So stock a cooler with beer, then grab a bottle of Buchanan’s 12 and some fresh pineapple juice, and you’ve got everything you need to watch soccer for the next five weeks. Ingredients:
![]() Club ONT Department of Full Service Health Care ![]() ![]() Who was the first member of this club? Robert Johnson died in 1938, and the cause of death is as mysterious as much of his life. The official death certificate attributes it to complications from syphilis, but many of his friends and contemporaries say it was murder — whiskey laced with strychnine, courtesy of a jealous husband of one of Johnson’s lovers. He was set to play Carnegie Hall just a few months later, but instead he was laid to rest in an unmarked grave. Robert Johnson was the first, but unfortunately not the last, important musician to pass away at 27, becoming the founder of a club no one wants to join — and one that has captured the popular imagination for decades. There was a sketchy dude at the Crossroads offering guitar lessons. Crosstown traffic was backed up because a kazoo player was standing in the middle of the street. My family got concerned about my Red Velvet Cake obsession and tried to sign me into a program. I couldn't decide on an excuse, so used all apologies. I watched "Into the Woods" today - the plot is a couple of sisters trying to survive some undetailed apocalypse in a house deep in the woods in North California (actually filmed on Vancouver island) where the power goes out and stays out.
Minor spoiler: Eventually they figure out how to hunt/gather in their area to deal with their used up food supplies. So I did a little research - the estimate is that an Indian hunter gather would need about 2000 acres of land in the northwest to live off of! Yes with modern knowledge you could shave something off that but...that's a lot of land. Now in comparison a medieval peasant would only need about 4 acres...No wonder agriculture spread so quickly... Some of the Texas dems who are paying attention are starting to realize that they got sold a bill of goods with Talarico. Honestly, I believe that most of the hype about how he was “electable!” and “moderate!” and “appeals to a broad range of Texas voters!” was mostly just a well financed op by the Cornyn campaign.

Dunno. Probably not. My intent was to exclude live versions without the full orchestration. I could listen to "I Got A Name" a lot, but not 100 times.. Another good choice. "And I carry it with me like my daddy did..." is a goosebump line. Posted by: Oddbob at June 27, 2026 10:39 PM (vTZFs) 102

Thanks for sharing one of your webworks pieces on the previous post. Posted by: Mrs JTB You're welcome. I've been parsing out one of my songs per music thread (usually) from the sessions I recorded a decade ago, before my fingers and voice started failing. "Sappy" is a great song. Never on an album, it was a secret track on some charity compilation. The hits have been played to death, and Cobain should be noones role model, but they were the last great band, and when he imploded or was murdered (either is believable) he wasn't washed yet. Great sound and he could write a hook. Almost against his wishes because he really wanted to be the kind of punk artist that most people rejected but he was just too good at songwriting

Posted by: 18-1 at June 27, 2026 10:34 PM (sKqQm) It would depend on the area and the group, you know. The PNW indians did maintain food patches, in Camas prairies that also had other plants that were harvested like biscuit root, cattail and wapato swamps, and they also in areas maintained food forests with the edible plants from filberts to elderberries. There was lots of fishing of salmon and trout that was preserved, as well as smelt which were traded widely inland similar to cod in Europe. There were also traditional areas for collecting acorns and for berrying. Posted by: Kindltot at June 27, 2026 10:55 PM (rbvCR) 147

157 Tangerine Dream soundtrack for Thief
Posted by: Archer at June 27, 2026 11:00 PM (wvc0i) I've probably listened to that (and the rest of their '73 - '96 output, including boots) at least 1000 times. Though if I had to pick only one album from them as my all-time fave rave, it would be Rubycon. It's the true birth of "Berlin School" electronica, and is (to me) the perfect album from them. Tangerine Dream is my favorite modern music act (I'm a Moderator of three different TD Fakebook groups, and met the band backstage twice in London in '96 and '97.) however, the act that currently performs under the name is using it as a skinsuit, IMNSHO. As far as I'm concerned, the band ended when Edgar Froese died back in 2015. Posted by: goozer at June 27, 2026 11:41 PM (eTh1u) 212
I have no doubt if we had the room for it we'd buy that little river for nothing to do. I know my late father would have on the farm for next to the pool and under the pecan trees. Maybe buy a few to go to the lake.
The song I could listen to forever and never tire of is hard as there are many. Maybe this one as it grabs me right out of the gate: https://tinyurl.com/zfxkrspe I haven't watched a game of the World Cup, because watching the fans is game enough. I love them. I want to keep them here. I always loved to visit Scotland and am 1/4 Scots. Wish I could party with them! I now read some things in a Brit accent, which is odd, I know, but true as this is what I have done all week as watch youtubes of their surprise, joy, amazed at our country, and fun! Love the song of the Sleepover, Doof and Dino! Will drink my dram straight, though, this winter. What will the visitors think of our 250th Birthday party, & I don't think they are ready for fireworks An American said this (not my quote) as he entertained some people on his farm in Texas: "My soul is on fire." Well, I got the Gravely mower started today, and it ran fine, but it would not motivate. At. All. Engaged the PTO, and the mower deck blades spun merrily, decapitating the few dandelions unlucky enough to be under it. But the machine would not move. Checked the level in the hydraulic fluid tank. A little low, maybe? Added some. No joy.
Machine's owner shows up while it's idling away. "What are these plugs in the front of the two hydraulic pumps?" I thought they looked like bleeder screws. They were loose. I screwed in until they seated. Bingo! We had drive, forward and reverse. But there was a lot of chatter, and the inside wheel skidded on the turf when making a tight turn. Hard on the lawn. Supposedly, there is a precise procedure one had to follow to properly set up the hydro drive. So I have to look that up. And the Buick has gone home, all done. Woot! I’m loving every minute of it. Posted by: Heroq at June 28, 2026 12:31 AM (VktcG) 275
Look at the clowns in the IC and you have your answer to why we don't know where everything is. They're a bunch of stupid grifters or more likely on Iran's side.

I think Al-Asad airbase was our last significant military concentration in Iraq and we exited that a while back. Haven't kept up, but likely there's an augmented USMC detachment at the embassy (they have air defense installations), more personnel at the support facility at BIAP (airport), and definitely folks up in Iraqi Kurdistan. Would guess (lol) there's a significant Other Guvamint Agency presence in Kurdistan as well.
Some Euro presence in Kurdistan as well. A French soldier was killed in a drone attack during the recent full-blown festivities. Posted by: rhomboid at June 28, 2026 12:34 AM (U/Byj) 277

I wish people who are linking to their favorite songs would tell us what it IS, so we can find out if we want to hear it before playing it.
Posted by: mnw You can be sure any music link I post would be something loud, fast, obnoxious, and could probably start or end a few small wars. Posted by: Berserker I sometimes put bands and titles in, but it probably doesn't help, because nobody else knows the stuff I listen to. RE: My 100 times pick, Hymne a l'amour:
I was reading the comments at youtube. I was gratified to see that quite a few others, besides me, had a hard time deciding which they liked better-- Piaf or Celine. The French do gigantic spectacles very well. They have a real talent for it. Celine singing at the Arche de la Triomphe at the end of the '24 Paris Olympics-- now THAT was one helluva spectacle. Yeah I'm kinda puzzled by that myself. Burn the fuckers from orbit. Posted by: Berserker-Dragonheads Division at June 28, 2026 12:27 AM (snZF9) Iran built several of what they called “missile cities” , tunneling under mountains so the actual storage sites were under hundreds of feet of granite, safe even from bunker buster bombs. Even the US agreed that they had tens of thousands of ballistic missiles stored in these sites. In early March, US bombs destroyed and collapsed the entrances to these sites so that they were unreachable - but published satellite photos show that Iran has been digging them out and establishing access over the last 6 weeks. It appears that they’ve been successful, and their “missile cities” are back online. No doubt the contents are now being distributed around the country. We were finishing up with her leg bandages (edema/hematomas), and Publius took her blood pressure about 20 times. It was very high for her - like 160/98 one time (normally she's like 106/58 or something like that). They said there's fluid in her lungs and they'll have to put her on Lasik (sp?) to remove fluid. Such a bummer, since her legs were really improving from keeping them elevated. She hates that but we finally convinced her that it was more important than her comfort right now. Poor lady has sooooo much going on, and she is so effin sweet you wouldn't believe it. The best mother-in-law evah! Posted by: Miley, okravangelist at June 28, 2026 12:47 AM (w6EFb) 287
Yes, Publius. Me too. A great blessing to have all those extra years with her, I'm sure. My mother made it to 94.

Even before Iran, I had zero confidence that the US could stop China from invading Taiwan. Now, after Iran, my confidence is less than zero. We should not pursue futility as a foreign policy. I was hoping that was part of what MAGA was about. I was wrong, apparently. Posted by: gp at June 28, 2026 12:50 AM (Jr5Lq) Posted by: All at June 28, 2026 12:50 AM (6VErX) 292
