The Morning Rant
Democrats played the very long game. Where did it start? Post 1960s, the radicals quit trying to change society overtly. They all went into education. They became respected members of the professor class, and frankly, that professor class had a bias toward welcoming them in. That’s how Bill Ayers and his wife, Bernadine Dohrn, worked. Here they are. Smiling commies with their red stars. Totally accepted in the Obama network. Never forget, The Weatherman and 60s radicals all grew up wealthy. Ayer’s father was the CEO of Commonwealth Edison. They have trust funds and generational wealth to rely on. President FDR was the same. They won’t part with it, but they are happy to take yours. It took a couple of generations via taking over the public and private school system, but we have a lot of people out there who do not understand capitalism and think America is a racist country with a flawed founding. They are easily persuaded to communism, socialism, or whatever you want to call it. No amount of data can get them out of their confirmation bias.
Well, there is one bit of data that will convince them of the evils of socialism, but that is the end game, when they are lined up against a wall and shot for being enemies of the state. That is the unavoidable result of the ignorance that is engulfing the West. As Marx himself said:
When our turn comes, we shall make no excuse for the terror.
So where will patriotic Democrats go, now that the hard left of their party is subsuming the rest of them?
The center of the Democratic Party is gone. It's over for people like Senator Fetterman. There are no Danny Rostenkowskis, Scoop Jacksons, or Tip O' Neills. Rahm Emanuel is running around the country trying to save it but he was the butler who helped usher in the communists as Obama's Chief of Staff.
The answer is that they will support the obscenity of the Democratic Socialist wing because the political philosophy of the Democrat party is simply a prettier version of Stalin's...the lust for power is all-encompassing, and mainstream Democrats will hold their noses and continue to vote for what can only end in Gulags and concentration camps and wholesale murder and death. The descent into socialism that NYC seems to have embraced was not created out of whole cloth. This was not some covert effort to insinuate a crypto-socialist into the halls of power, the way Obama slithered his way into the Oval Office. Thanks CBD…. I think the older generation of Dems (Schumer, Carville etc) are for the most part not very smart. Their first instinct is for power and attention and they’re stuck in a tribalism mindset of us vs them… the GOP is so bad I gotta stick with my team plus my only viable path to continued power is to stick with my team no matter what.
Very little (if any) deep thinking going on with that group… first-order “my team must win” thinking… no realization that it could all lead to them being lined up against a wall… so kinda stupid

Take a look at the demographic breakdown of the voters who went for the communist candidates in NYC including Mamdani. The FT reports that Caracas is preparing to disclose total debt of roughly USD 240 billion, a figure materially higher than the market's working range of USD 150 billion to 200 billion and one that would make this the largest sovereign restructuring on record, eclipsing the Greek default of 2012 and its USD 200 billion.

It's interesting to watch the slow collapse of institutions that were captured.
I sorted today's mail and found an "invitation" to support my alma mater by joining its life insurance group. It's the fifth mailing this month for a fundraising, whether sales or alumni events.
A few years ago, a Jewish classmate told me flat out that she won't support a nest of anti-semitism. The younger alumni, particularly those from overseas, don't donate unless there's a significant quid pro quo. Admission scandals and Chinese students smuggling in bioweapons have the old-timers dropping support and changing their wills.

YES, they pay full freight, but foreigners don't donate. You're killing your fundraising operations for years to come in favor of immediate money...

For some alumni, they like to contribute to the same scholarships that helped them or start one related to their field. My Dad knows a WW2 vet (still alive!) who set up engineering scholarships at different universities for in-state kids.
