30 I realized today that there are two types of people in the world; those that listen to song lyrics and those that pretty much only hear the music itself. With that in mind, it was today that I finally figured out that 'Nights in White Satin' is talking about white satin sheets - NOT Medieval Knights in white satin.

A Hot Brown sandwich is an open-faced sandwich that originated in Louisville, Kentucky, featuring layers of turkey breast, bacon, and tomatoes, all covered in a creamy Mornay sauce and baked until bubbly. It was created in 1926 at the Brown Hotel as a late-night meal option for guests.

38 The Kentucky Hot Brown is a hearty, open-faced hot sandwich traditionally made with thick slices of Texas toast, topped with sliced turkey and crispy bacon, and finished with rich Mornay sauce—a creamy cheese sauce often made with Pecorino Romano or Parmesan cheese.

“A Runza is a yeast dough pocket filled with seasoned ground beef, cabbage, and onions, originating from German Russian immigrants in the Great Plains and popularized by the Nebraska-based fast-food chain of the same name. It's similar to a bierock but is typically rectangular, and the restaurant offers many variations, including cheese, mushroom, and BBQ bacon.”

Local burger chain named Runza sells the above sandwich along with burgers, fries, etc. Only had it twice, but the burgers were pretty good.

Apple cider doughnuts are one of those foods up there that everyone fusses over, but you can make better ones in your kitchen.

New Hampshire cuisine is lacking. The only exception is they had three or four places up there that served wild fare. Pheasant, buffalo, moose, and even bear meat on selected evenings.

179 My bona fides...lived in Philly for a number of years. I knew not to go to Genos, or Pats, or even Jims on South Street. Cheesesteaks are a regional dish down there. Pretzels in PA are made across the state, and centered in Lancaster/ Lebanon county. They define a food from the State better than cheesesteaks...and providing the country with 80% of the pretzel stock defines shaping the US.

It's a casserole, yes. "Tater tot hotdish" is one type.

Divorced Mrs. Wolfus No. 1, took up with and moved in with No. 2, hated my job but loved my home life until marriage No. 2 evaporated. So did the job, but it forced me to go back to school and learn about computers and how to type.

NY though does have the best overall Italian food IMO.

And in Louisiana, gumbo varies by region. East of Lafayette they make it with slimey okra with a dark roux. That should not be allowed.

I'd been thinking along the seame lines, after you told me the billionaire won the GOP primary for Guv.

Can "souls to the polls" do the same thing for Ossoff, in an off year election, as they did for Warlock?

I agree that Collins is a a good candidate. And a good fit for GA.

Regarding the blank slate billionaire: there are 2 GOP organizations that have proven themselves VERY good at GOTV: Early Vote Action (Pressler) and TPUSA (Turning Point Action PAC). Hopefully the billionaire will throw some money their way. Both are used to operating on a shoestring budget. Pressler (EVA) especially-- he likes to hire paid canvassers, when he's able to afford it.

The blank slate gubernatorial candidate has expensive campaign consultants connected to the Republican National Governor's association.

Warnock paid metro voters by his canvassers distributing visa gift cards from sewer money in exchange for ballots. And Hershel was not a good candidate, his heart was not in the run. Trump misfired on that one. Plus Fulton County is crookeder than a dog's hind leg and the state GOP is fearful of going up against them (or at least the Kemp team was).

Ossoff though is a cypher even after six years in office--Warnock is a creep but has a genuine connection to Georgia.

And downstate voters are what put Lance Bottoms on top in the Dem primary, she underperformed in the Atlanta metro because her tenure in Atlanta as mayor was so awful. One term

Correct. It's the MN food because two bars in Minneapolis both claim to have created it. There's an ongoing friendly rivalry.

Eh, for some personally, it was better, but I think it was probably a worse time for the US in general than the 80's. Worker wages stagnated in the 70's where one wage was no longer enough but two wage household accelerated the housing prices. Stagflation, Uniparty in full power in DC, and apart from some musical bright spots, bands that were great at teh first of the decade sorta petered out with disco by the end of the decade. TV was mediocre with minimal choices and murder got really bad by the 1972-73 and continued on and off due to drug trafficking through teh early nineties.

Of course, the DOJ is under new management. I'm hoping for the best.

I DO plan to scan the 175-page indictment. But... life is short, so maybe not. From the news articles, the press conference and the list of offenses charged, seemed like it might be a bit short of VIOLENT overt acts in support of the conspiracy.

That may be what a jury will require to convict.

They began with Russia and ran out the first two years with that (which I explained at the time they were doing - punctuated by the stupid Mueller Hearing where he was just a doddering old man that knew nothing - they had nothing and ran out the clock), then went straight into the impeachments, then finally covid. They hamstrung him from Day 1 and had traitors up and down the admin, under the admin, around the admin. It was pure insanity.

He is only doing president stuff *now* through brute force, the fact that they expected him to be dead, and the foresight he had to kill the phony Epstein Op early in the admin before it really got rolling and wrecked Term 2.

398 Much like the music industry killed music, the car industry killed car culture. Its much easier to get legislation passed to force people to pay more for cars than to design cars cool enough to make people want to pay more. The last 25 years have been a campaign to make younger people view cars like they view refrigerators and make their music no more interesting or meaningful than background music in a movie. Another factor is akin to how Cessna used to build light planes but found it was more profitable to build a much smaller number of private jets. Car makers aren't really interested in building large amounts of affordable cars, more profit in building a much smaller number of expensive vehicles.

We have a great butcher in town and we asked him about getting catfish. He said several people here have asked and he ordered it but it was bad when it was delivered.

We ate a lot of seafood in the South.

417 However, the greatest decade was the 1970's for fun and music.

It was the perfect combination of shitty economy, shitty clothing styles, great music, and groovy drugs to help the music get you past the first two.

Depends on jury selection but a lot of blue voters are not down with the DSA violence crap. Even Democrats voters now have a majority wanting deportation. It is becoming more an 80/20 issue than a 50/50 like abortion.

The problem for Klobachar running for governor is that the legacy of Walz is going to continue to drip out via the fraud trials, the fed gov grants being stopped, the Somali misbehavior, etc. etc.

As senator, she could fly above that mess, as governor, she either has to repudiate Walz and Ellison the AG as increasingly it appears they are in legal jeopardy but certainly the state's fraud industry is, or embrace them.

The old welfare clients see their cheese literally being given to Somalis and that breeds a lot of resentment.

432 As one who grew up in the 1980s, I was spoiled. By the music, by the adventures I was on...

...at the side hustle, a manager of a similar age to me was talking about all the cartoons he saw in the 1980s as MOTU came up somehow. I missed out on much of that being in Germany for a good part of the 1980s and thus at the mercy of whatever AFN would show us...the ONE AFN channel!

Then at the end of the decade, in HS, turning a corner I ran into a hot, dark skinned, preppy Latina girl named Danielle... : )

Overall, the 1980s represented peak optimism, a can do spirit, and at the end of it, almost to prove the point, there went the Berlin Wall.

455 Music in the 70’s - there was a spread from about ‘73 to ‘80 (the numbers are up for debate) where one of the top 200 albums of all time was released, new, about every 2 weeks. Constantly, and even people today still rate them there.

I can’t think of a single new album that I would have bought or listened to in the last 20 years, at least.

Someone has been not only organizing, but funding it... to the tune of serious money.

And as that invariably crosses State lines, and may very well be international... it opens a whole new arsenal of Legal weapons to go after folks.

I find it hard to believe that someone was not investigating this for years... which means there WAS a Fed Gov cover up... and it had to be at pretty high levels.

But like the Act Blue crap, where we had evidence for years of them breaking the law... or the Ukraine Bio Labs which they just acknowledged, but some of us had evidence of years ago... until someone in the Media / Government Psy Op space allows it to be important, it will be a conspiracy theory which is dismissed.

80s and 90s, there were 7 Local Bars that had Live music every weekend... and a couple more venues that had live music periodically.

Now, there is 1, and the Bands that play there are all Rockers in their 60's... no young musicians at all.

Live music ex morte.
