Animal rescuers in Quebec are asking the public to keep an eye out for a juvenile kangaroo on the loose along Montreal's South Shore. The Galahad SPCA said the kangaroo was first reported Wednesday being kept improperly in a stable, and officials believe it may have been being kept illegally. The SPCA said no kangaroo permits had been issued in the area.
The Miller Zoo has offered to give the kangaroo a new home, but SPCA officials said Quebec's Ministry of the Environment told them that a permit would be required to capture and transport the kangaroo.Kangaroo permits must be a big deal in Montreal. Glad that officials are on the job to ensure that a helpful zoo knows is currently has no permit to house a kangaroo. Zoos need to get specific permits for each animal? I guess that which is not specifically permitted is prohibited. Glad Canada has solved all of its other problems so that it can focus on kangaroo permits. I can hear the people of Australia laughing...
Defense contractor Leonardo is promoting a new technology called SignalTrace that will package plate cameras with sensors that can scrape unique identifiers tied to your smart devices and make that data available to law enforcement. A recent report by 404 Media dives into the objective of SignalTrace and how it's being marketed to authorities. Police, border security, and other government agencies already comprise Leonardo's customer base, and with this technology, those clients seek to correlate footage from these cameras to phones, tablets, wearables, AirTags, and, naturally, the electronics inside cars themselves. If SignalTrace can pick up your Bluetooth headphones, you can be damn sure it'll also be looking out for your vehicle's 5G hotspot, infotainment system, and even its tire pressure monitoring sensors. Hell, the company includes pet microchips as a potential entry point to tracking.What could possibly go wrong? Faraday bags and paper maps anyone?

Lauren Lavera posted a ton of Happy Birthday wishes. She turned 32!!! So for Terrifier 2, she would have been about 27 and looking amazing playing a high school girl.
I also follow Pale Girl - Amelie. She's about 15 or 16 and does a lot of terror festivals. She always posts pictures people send her of tattoos with her character. That must be crazy.

Stinkray isn't needed. Google knows where your phone is (sometimes even when location is turned off) and can see how fast or slow you're going, so can infer traffic flow.

We have shitty looking Hispanics showing up trying to sell internet service and other things.
Three months ago a Hispanic with a gross scar down his face showed up at the kids house. He was trying to sell some cable service. His buddy was in the unmarked truck in the street.
The daughter-in-law told him they weren't interested. He was being persistent till he heard their big dog barking.
He said "oh you have a dog, I'm, leaving."
The kids front yard is completely fenced in. We have told them no one should have access to your yard. We gave them locks for the gates but it is an issue about the kid's friends coming over.
We told them they have phones and they should call before they come over.
What else can we do?

It just occurred to me that the reason for this was likely that Sherman had a zillion mules that he no longer needed after the war was over.
Lending them to the black farmers meant that someone else would be responsible for feeding them and taking care of them, while ensuring they were still around to requisition back should the need arise. Much smarter than just killing them.
Sherman might've been a cold-blooded motherfucker, but no one ever said he wasn't shrewd.

I have two who served in Wisconsin regiments, who epitomize the extremes of war service. One became a Colonel of 21st Wisconsin, was captured along with his unit at Chickamauga (the 21st held their ground when the units on both sides of them split and ran, so they were completely cutoff). Spent a year in Libby prison in Richmond, escaped, ended up as one of Sherman's staff officers. Quite a career.
The other one, his cousin, signed up as a private, was shipped immediately to Spotsylvania, and was shot through the head the 2nd day he wore the uniform.

First power outage of the season, too. It went out about a half hour into the storm, and returned about 3 hours later a half hour ago. If we follow history, we'll see.4 or 5 more before September, lasting 2 to 6 hours.
I want to get batteries added to my solar, but APS isn't making it easy. They require combo meter- main panels, which makes getting in between the grid and the wiring.to the house to switch off the grid and onto batteries almost impossible. I had one proposal.to move wiring around to allow this which left my 40 year old panel in place with no breakers in it, and reduced my service from 200A to 150A... and it was $$$$. That doesn't even start on the batteries, that's another 30-40k.
I'm getting deep in the weeds with the NEC codes, trying to find a better, and maybe cheaper way

The second problem was a group of camp followers, said to be about 30,000 made up of deserters, runaway slaves, and general ruffians that stayed about 5 miles behind the main army. This was the group that caused most of the trouble looting the civilians. Sherman was sick of them but didn't want to waste time dealing with them either.
The army came to a large river, and had to build a pontoon bridge to get across. (Sherman's army was good at this) He got his army across, iirc about 40,000 men and their equipment, and then he saw the camp followers coming up, and he knew the Confederate pursuers were also coming up fast. So as soon as his army got across, he cut the pontoons loose and destroyed the bridge, so the Confederates and the camp followers could have fun killing each other and he wouldn't have to bother with either of them anymore.

We lived in Florida when husband got a promotion to run the office in Chicago.
We were oddities up there. People would call my husband and they told him they just wanted to hear his Southern accent.

Both my parents were born there, my grandfathers who I never met because they skipped out on their respective families were born there, my uncle who was murdered there, so much family history there, even a US Supreme Court ruling that involves my dad's family. Yet, Chicago is not a place I ever want to visit.

He probably felt also that it was his fault, too. It is one of those things. It may have been his way of apologizing to you for not being able to make it turn out better. My dad had those moments too. you know, when I was at my worst.
Later on, at the end of his life, he was surprised at how close I was to him, and how I tried to help and support him. He told me I had turned out well and was a good son. I told him I blamed it all on him, which tickled his sense of humor.
