Maine Democratic Senate candidate Graham Platner appeared to cruelly mock a teen's suicide attempt in a newly resurfaced Reddit post. The May 2012 Reddit thread begins with a photo of a teenage girl hanging out of an upper-story window, with a young man gripping her arms in an apparent attempt to save her, screenshots of the post showed. "A girl at my old highschool [sic] tried jumping from a window because her cousin died the day before," the post's caption read. These students saved her. I have hope." An account belonging to the Nazi-tattoo sporting Maine Senate candidate wasn't sympathetic. "Someone clearly isn't trying hard enough," a commenter using the name P-Hustle -- Platner's screen name on the platform -- wrote in response.Some might say that this is just "edgy" Reddit "humor." I'd respond that many of us have been harassed, censored, debanked, or even fired for similar edgy humor, so why does the National Socialist Shrimpdick get a pass?
In another newly-unearthed Reddit post, Platner -- who had an account on the messaging app Kik which featured a half-naked photo of himself -- joked about expressing his gratitude for porn stars in military fashion. "Thank you for your cervix," he posted in 2021 in response to a user who said that adult entertainers should be thanked for their service like veterans.Good Heavens, he really is made of Reddit "jokes" and sexual battery, isn't he? Yeah I know the allegations so far are about non-sexual battery committed against women, but I imagine the sexual assault allegations are being held until (I think) July 13th, when it will no longer be legal to replace him in the race. Relatedly: The Democrats' electoral lead looks like it's experiencing shrinkage.

A couple of the toss up races listed are Trump+8. Those won't flip.

GOP won 2 senate seats in 2018 with a D+9 national environment.
Senate races are weird. Turnout tends to reflect partisan makeup of the state overall because the senate races drive up turnout overall, eliminating turnout differential advantages (midterms just seen out of power parties do better, not even Obama's people could reverse it). There are also candidate quality issues that play harder here.
Where are the Senate races of note?
OH? Deep red state. AK? Deep red state. TX? Deep red state. FL? Deep red state.
ME? Long term incumbent who is actually pretty popular. Bet on Collins.
GA? Went to Trump in 2024, plus DOJ focus on Fulton County.
MI? If El-Sayed wins the primary...expect fun.
NC? Last time Cooper won statewide, there were 400,000 more registered Dems than GOP. Now? 10,000 more GOP than Dems. He only won by 250,000 last time. And senate races tend to be more purely partisan without incumbents (think MD and Larry Hogan in 24).

The time bomb is how much Democrat voter fraud might be revealed and stopped in November. Just Scotus, which is likely to do os, forbidding counting votes past election day is likely to kill a couple of Dem House and perhaps even Senate victories. We also do not know what the effect of eliminating illegals/dead voters or discouraging them that are still on the rolls from voting will do.
And events including the economy are more likely to be positive for Trump and the GOP than negative going forward for the next five months or so.
Frankly I see more downsides for the Dems than upsides in the next few months, worse if the teen takeover chimpouts keep occurring and some Dems are frogmarched into criminal courts for voter fraud or Russia Russia. It also appears that the obverse of 2010 is in action--the Dems are picking the oddball DSA types while teh GOP candidates are by and large normal pols.

It's a known phenomenon called response bias.
Progressives just tend to stay on the phone will pollsters more outside of election season.
It's why the races always "tighten" or "shift right" the closer we get to the election. It's not that the electorate suddenly moves 5-10 points to the right. It's that the response bias issue gets sorted out by conservatives just talking to pollsters more.

Perhaps, Platner is unlikely to have an upside surprise but highly likely to have a downside.
But, if you want to play the game on House seats, look at the normal vote, funds raised, candidate experience, whether they represented part of the district as a state rep or senator, and whether the seat is open or not.
It is hard to get reliable media polls on house districts due to difficulty in actually getting a representative sampling of the district (see the Massie race as an example). The good private surveys are really expensive and usually treated as proprietary by the campaign consultants and only trotted out at times to get donor interest if flagging.
And most media polls other than Presidential races suck badly with random error accounting for actually getting numbers right and Kalshi, etc. are downstream of those polls so take any prediction market bullshit on individual races with a grain of salt until the last week or so.

Inflation comes when the dollar loses value like when Biden printed money like a drunken sailor. What we have now is a commodity (Oil) that has risen which affects the price of fuel. When oil drops to $45/Barrel then there will be no more price increases. Inflation will drop to 2%.
It will take about 60 days, but it will drop from the Oil Glut on the market. Trump has thought this out to time with the Midterms.

This further killed any endorsement or campaigning by Trump.
- 50+ House incumbents declined to seek reelection.
Many of them were not just incumbents but senior members. The type that almost never lose, even in a wave election.
Several of those made their announcement late in the cycle, purposefully timed to prevent any meaningful R to build a campaign.
