The King would be proud Elvis Presley’s Graceland Unveils Big Plans For ‘All-American’ 4th of July Event Elvis Presley‘s Graceland is getting ready to have a major celebration this 4th of July. In honor of America’s upcoming 250th anniversary, Graceland is hosting an “All-American Weekend” from July 3 to July 5, where fans will be able to see Elvis’ iconic Memphis estate like never before as it getes lit up in red, white and blue. According to the official Graceland website, this year’s fourth of July celebration will include include two “electrifying” concerts, including a performance from The Dreamboats, who are slated to “bring their electrifying, high-energy celebration of 1950s and ’60s rock ‘n’ roll to the Graceland Soundstage for a night that will have you on your feet from the first note.” There will also be a tribute concert from Jimmy Holmes and Patt Dunn, who are expected to “bring Elvis’ greatest hits to life — from rock ‘n’ roll classics to unforgettable ballads and Vegas-era favorites.”-----
The United States flag appeared to be met with loud boos and jeers before the opening game of the World Cup in Mexico City. Ahead of the big kick-off between Mexico and South Africa, the flags of all 48 teams participating in this summer’s tournament were paraded onto the pitch. The final three flags to take to the pitch were those of the three North American co-hosts, the United States, Canada and Mexico. However, there was a marked change in atmosphere when the United States were introduced and their flag was displayed on the stadium’s big screen. From jubilant roars, the noise of the crowd shifted, with loud boos audible as the flag of the United States was brought forward.First of all, it's a field not a pitch. Secondly, go fuck yourselves.

Posted by: Diogenes My folks had one of those, with the guard unlocked. It was in the middle room of the bathhouse by the pool here on the ranch. Kept stocked with all the best; I had a thing for Grape soda. Or Dr Pepper (original formula). From the long-gone local bottling plant. Sometimes had to shuffle bottles around in the slots to get what you want. Since they tore the pool and bathhouse down after Dad died in '68, I think it's been gathering dust out in the metal shed (as opposed to the old cement shed). We'll be hauling it out and dusting it off one of these days, see if it still works. Every summer here in Oklahoma, especially days like today, I miss that great old swimming pool. Thanks, Doof!
My rock and roll band is Thunder Sinners. I love the soccer vs football meme! Lol. I once played with those little plastic Army men with my brother. We dug elaborate caves in one part of the yard for them. The soil has a lot of Yazoo clay running through it, so we'd take some time off to make little bowls and be Indians. No wars between us at the time and unsure who we were fighting. However, when I was six years old on a trip to the NC and Virginia mountains and DC on the backseat window ledge (as who needs seatbelts), I learned tragically that the North won the Civil War. My brother had the blue Yanks and I had Confederate grey men.Because as oldest I won at everything. I said, "Start the war" and after skirmishes I said I won. My father crushed me when he told me otherwise. I am sure I said, "You are kidding me" as this is how most of our conversations went. I have never been the same. I don't drink them anymore but I just called them by their name when I did. I'll have a Coke or a Dr Pepper or a 7up.

I was in a parking lot today turning tricks and saw this:
A mother pulled up, sort of trashy looking woman who takes no pride in herself (but, hey, I can't help it if I do and would not be caught dead without trying or mascara) got out of her car in front of me. Then a daughter got out in red/black flannel pj's and a hoodie. It was 80 degrees. A more normal daughter got out in jeans and a tee shirt. What on earth? It was 3pm and flannel girl looked like she just rolled out of bed. I said to my husband I don't get it. Why don't people care what they look like anymore? Is it because I'm Southern? What on earth? He doesn't know, either. In reality I'd taken my husband to the doctor for an appt and was in the car listening to rock with the AC on to irritate anyone who is liberal and might notice. I also saw my very first gigantic yellow swallotail butterfly today (which I write down in my calendar). Because. Posted by: ChristyBlinkyTheGreat at June 11, 2026 11:42 PM (WONhk) 383

How IPOs work, sometimes:
1) Irresistible story and/or charismatic executive. 2) IPO is set up with several insiders already granted percentage ownership of company shares. 3) IPO opens at retail, immediately chased to the sky by enchantment with the story. 4) At the peak, most or all of the insiders sell. 5) Sad trombone. Sometimes. Posted by: gp at June 11, 2026 11:44 PM (Jr5Lq) Posted by: mnw at June 11, 2026 11:44 PM (RCjYY) 388

Vacuum tube testing machines.
Posted by: JQ at June 11, 2026 10:43 PM (rdVOm) I would love to get my hands on one of those testers. I probably have over 100 vintage preamp tubes in my stash because all of my guitar amps use tubes. I keep my eye out for certain tubes and keep hording them, so it would be nice to weed out the duds. Posted by: Berserker-Dragonheads Division I had to look on the web because they had one in the mom-pop drugstore when I was in school. Big floor display model with the tubes for sale in slots below the "test bed". They got a bunch on eBay. Didn't see the floor display model though. Just me, but i think 'free thought' is bullshit. It is not like we are flipping a coin on issues and who knows where it will land. Our thinking is informed and shaped by what we believe in. What we value. That is not 'free.'
Posted by: Aetius451AD You have a misguided notion of what "free thought" means. The phrase was coined in an age where, in many cases, you were not "free" to think unapproved thoughts, kinda like being a Democrat today. Posted by: Pikov Andropov at June 11, 2026 11:47 PM (y7zkd) 397

Better than Moon Moon, I guess.
Posted by: Captain Obvious, Laird o' the Sea at June 11, 2026 11:25 PM (amcLV) We determined a few years ago that one of our dogs, is, indeed, Moon Moon. She lives up to it daily. Just now she got excited, ran around a corner and smacked her ass into the wall at full speed. Didn't miss a beat. Took her three days to figure out how to use the doggie door, even with her sister showing her how it works. So, we have Moon Moon, the live version (tm). Posted by: JQ at June 11, 2026 11:33 PM (rdVOm) Those were frigging terrible. I remember the girls having those and you could hear them 100 yards away. lol Posted by: Berserker-Dragonheads Division at June 11, 2026 11:37 PM (snZF9) ******** In the early '90's I got roller blades for Christmas for me and my boys. I had a vision of the great legs that summer at the beach for me. I had forgotten how to skate. It was rather pitiful Christmas Day in FL with a movie recording us trying on the sidewalk. I fell once only vs sons. Filmed. You can hear my parents and husband laughing when I fell. I caught myself with my hand and managed to fx a bit of my elbow. It is recorded of me flapping my arm around til I felt a pop and said that feels better...til it got like Popeye's arm overnight. A wee fx and I needed a sling and gave the rollerblades to a friend. My father then decided to teach one son with one skate and holding onto him. Which does not make a bit of sense and the entire video is hilarious. God's Waiting Room I refer to any attempt by the missus to put down a deposit for a place in one of the oldsters' bide-a-wee shelters as "God's waiting rooms". I have not the slightest interest in hanging out in a facility populated almost exclusively with folks of our generation. There's a big reason we welcomed graduating from high school and that reason is we were at last free of the folks who had been the bane of our existence for twelve long years. You know, you should never answer those meme questions honestly. It speaks well of your character that you just see some silly harmless fun, but the criminal mind sees an identity theft tool for eliciting the answers to your security questions, that they can use to reset your password if they can guess your account name and where you have it.
