Anthony killed Metcalf during a April 2, 2025, run-in prompted by a dispute over seating at the track and field event in Frisco.
Anthony previously appeared glum, looking down and not immediately speaking with his lawyers, as he entered the courtroom to hear the verdict -- then broke into sobs as it was announced, several outlets in court reported.

Metcalf's twin, Hunter, sat next to his parents in court for the verdict.
Metcalf's stricken mom wept as emotional photos were later shown to jurors deliberating sentencing for her son's killer.
The snapshots captured coaches performing CPR on her mortally wounded son at the track meet after Anthony stabbed him.
Outside the courthouse, about 200 protesters for and against Anthony clashed.
"This whole thing's been racist. We didn't make it racist!" a protester screamed.

I confess to not knowing the legalities. I believe two separate things:

1. The way to cut the Gordian Knot of the current impasse with Iran, and eliminate the nuclear Sword of Damocles they have hung over head, is by removing the nuclear material. Since they will presumably try to stop us if we just send some guys with excavators, that means going in full force. And then, if they try to stop us anyway, at least they won't be in a city full of civilians. One way or another, the problem will be solved.

For reasons unknown went to the opposing team's tent and was kicked out.

Then to Metcalf's tent's team and was asked approx 15 times to leave.

I am unsure why coaches or security did not kick him out of the track meet with his tiny knife in his backpack.

I hurt for his family, especially his twin brother who said (NYT): “You took a son, a brother, a friend, and my best friend, from this world. You took someone from me who was supposed to be an uncle, godfather to my kids. Now I want everything taken from you,” Hunter choked through tears in a Texas courtroom.

They couldn't charge him with capitol murder, since he was a juvenile at the time he committed the murder. SCOTUS has ruled that juvies are exempt. That includes not only the death penalty, but also life without parole.

So he was always going to having a shot at parole within 30 years ,max. Since he only got sentenced to 35, he will be up in 17.5 years.

Growing up in AK, racism was an odd notion. Everybody lives here, and nobody much cares what color you are. I think we are about 2% black, but at least 15% Native, plus Asians of various types, lots of Hispanics, plenty of Samoans, etc. I don't recall there ever being a race issue, except maybe one fight after a football game with West High, where the rich white folk lived. I went to East. It isn't like that anymore, for certain. Sometimes we get a Native race hustler, but not more than that.

I went to college in St. Louis, and that was eye-opening. I had no idea I was suppose to keep separate from the "black tables" in the cafeteria, etc. I guess I offended some black folks the first week or so before someone clued me in. WTF?

The Mountain View neighborhood in Anchorage is the "most diverse" neighborhood in the Nation, according to the Census. It's also full of drugs and Samoan gangs, but I lived there just fine for a couple of years. Nobody cared that I am white.

Our Suburban OH district incorporated a lot of heavy black districts in the late 60 early 70 period for the rumored reason that taxes from the GE plants nearby were good for the revenue stream. So Junior High and High School had a good population of blacks, but there were no serious issues to speak of. I even went on a demo project and taught a dab of Latin and Roman history to 6th graders in the area. They were a lot of fun.

I have no idea what was going on stateside during that time as I spent 16 of my 22 active duty years stationed overseas. All I can speak of is my personal experience in the military. I saw real progress in race relations starting in the late 1970s through my retirement in 1999. I really thought we were over that crap by the time I retired.

I love how Trump keeps stealing the IGRC's lines. He blockades the straits before IGRC can win brownie points by 'closing it'. They then had to demand free passage for all just to be opposed to us!

Now, they may have to deny we are stealing oil just to save face.

Its a pretty simple sport, you kick the ball around and someone fakes injury to score a goal. Rarely.

280 This is true. I was on a jury about 10 years ago for a black defendant in the Boston area. It was an attempted murder trial with a bunch of other charges thrown in. This kid was as guilty as the day is long once all the evidence was presented.

We had one black female juror. She refused REFUSED to find him guilty on the attempted murder charge. We spent 2-3 days trying to convince her. It was black tribal solidarity.

We ended up (after 3 1/2 days of deliberations) finding him not guilty of the attempted murder charge but guilty on all the other charges. The judge spoke to us afterwards telling us he was a frequent flyer in the justice system and since Mass had a 3 strikes law, he was getting extra time. I think he got about 6-7 years but it was far less then he should’ve gotten. It was very frustrating.
