Trump Signs Bill to Fund DHS and ICE Throughout the Rest of His Term
The 80-day long (IIRC) Democrat shutdown resulted in chaos and disruption but ultimately failed.

President Donald Trump on Wednesday signed legislation to fund key immigration enforcement agencies through the end of his term after Congress approved the package via the reconciliation process. "This morning, I'm thrilled to sign the Secure America Act to immediately and fully fund the Department of Homeland Security through the end of my term," he said at the signing ceremony in the Oval Office. The legislation followed a record-breaking shutdown of the Department of Homeland Security, which Democrats orchestrated in a bid to secure immigration enforcement policy concessions. Ultimately, the shutdown ended with Congress passing a bill to fund DHS that excluded funds for Border Patrol and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

My guess is both Iraq and Iran have figured out how to slant drill to access Iranian oil, the borders between those two states and Iran is a matter of a few miles. That, in part, is what started the trouble between Iraq and Kuwait. Saddam got pissed that the Kuwaitis were taking his oil but couldn't do anything about it until his war with Iran was finished.

She has been voting pretty consistently with the Dems since Trump reentered the White House. I think her leverage is getting less and less by the day and a new Senate that is roughly the same size majority is likely to trim her even more. You're right. There was never any impediment to ICE arresting illegal aliens whenever they're released from state or local custody.
Sometimes, in sanctuary cities, they refuse to tell ICE when a prisoner is due for release, I've read. So the problem for ICE is finding them after they're released.
I can't see how Sen. Schmitt's provision changes that at all.
If I'm wrong, I'm sure someone here will call it to my attention... as always.

It makes clear that the state and locality of sanctuary laws does not apply in anyway to federal law enforcement actions. That is not necessarily true. PRC may have (likely did) use the migration chaos to mask their own effort to get past the Panama barrier. My understanding is that very few animals had north -- if they do it is by ship and not much of a market, also highly controlled as countries north of the line are well aware of the risk.

A judge is facing sentencing in Wisconsin for just that. And yes, jailers, police, etc. have been ordered to release prisoners even with ICE detainers. Some have been fired for cooperating with ICE on removals.
You won't find these reports in national media including fox. You have to dig through X and political blogs where they post local stories that the national press chooses on purpose to suppress.

He pointed out that the problem came about because all UK subjects were equal under the law, and that no longer worked after the war with air transport. It took until 1962 to create new laws that stopped treating them all as having equal rights to fly to England and take root. He was not addressing race, but who belonged to what land. Englishmen had no exclusive right, while all other commonwealth countries did.

The judge's action in hiding an illegal alien were especially egregious, & I believe would constitute obstruction even before the Schmitt provision.
Most of the complaints I heard from my ICE acquaintances, before I retired, involved surreptitious release. Not actual interference with an arrest.
In any event, I will cheerfully applaud anything that even MIGHT help ICE do its job.
