Politico Cancels "Climate Change" Grift Subscription Service-- A Year After DOGE Turns Off the Government Subsidy

You probably remember (at least if prompted) that during the days of DOGE upsetting all the socialist applecarts, it was revealed that Politico had a grifter newsletter with an exorbitantly high subscription price -- and that the main consumer was the US government, buying pricey subscriptions for leftwing bureaucrats who either wanted to read climate propaganda or just wanted to direct taxpayer money to support climate propaganda.

DOGE cancelled those subscriptions. The media howled, claiming that nearly $500,000 per year of taxpayer money was a very reasonable price to read Al Gore's Daily Diary.

And without that government subsidy, Politico now cancels this terrific value whose pricetag was totally justified by the marketplace.

Politico is discontinuing an energy and environmental news product a little over a year after the government canceled a nearly half a million dollar annual subscription to it.

Politico on Monday announced plans to shutter E&E News and introduce two new energy-focused newsletters in September, Semafor first reported. The move comes after Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Lee Zeldin announced in February 2025 that the agency "will not be renewing our membership with Politico and Politico E&E, saving the American taxpayers $458,919 per year."

"Best $458,919 we ever saved on behalf of taxpayers," a spokesperson for the EPA told the Daily Caller News Foundation. "The government shouldn't subsidize poor journalism, and it's a stinging indictment of the previous administration that they wasted so many hard-earned American tax dollars keeping this outlet afloat."

"Beginning in September, we are modernizing how we deliver our energy and environmental policy journalism and launching a more focused, high-impact portfolio of daily news and intelligence products," Politico CEO Goli Sheikholeslami and Politico Global Editor-in-Chief Jonathan Greenberger said in a joint statement on Monday. "By bringing together our reporting from Washington, U.S. state capitals, Europe, and across industry, these newsletters will help subscribers see how policy decisions, political fights, and market forces intersect to reshape energy and climate."

...
"As part of this shift, E&E News will no longer operate as a separate brand. Its journalism and expertise will be fully integrated into POLITICO's energy and environment portfolio of stories, briefs, analysis and newsletters," according to Politico's statement. "The current E&E News publication structure will evolve into a connected set of energy and environment editorial products that share our deep reporting and strong analysis while showcasing our greater global editorial coordination."

When reached for comment, a Politico spokesperson referred the DCNF to the company's announcement from Monday.

Do it like I do with all of my municipal and state govt agency customers. Of course, I actually work on their equipment and provide an actual service, unlike these shit-heels. Invoices are immediately due, no Net 30 shit, because govt agencies think that Net 30 is actually Net 180. Had enough problems with credit accounts that I killed off most of them, unless we had an actual, formal contract.

Don't pay your bills? I don't ship you your product back. For a couple of customers I'm thinking about sending them their payment reminder emails in a ransom note format, complete with cutout letter font.

Politico has been at the center of a social media misinformation campaign this week, with X users posting screenshots that falsely purported to show millions of dollars funneled from the United States Agency for International Development to the site. Mr. Trump spread a similar message on his Truth Social platform.

In fact, the screenshots described government subscriptions to Politico Pro, which added up to millions of dollars. The service offers policy-related resources and tracks news and legislation, and has more than 30,000 subscribers, according to a Politico overview.

Recent public scrutiny by the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) highlighted an internal database containing 18.9 million active Social Security Numbers (SSNs) belonging to individuals born in 1920 or earlier who lack a registered death date. However, independent investigations and reports from the Social Security Administration (SSA) Office of the Inspector General confirm that 98% of these old records are not being paid any benefits

Which meas 2% of those 19m records ARE getting payouts.

Got that? The Catholic church laid of THOUSANDS when the USAID money stopped flowing. It annoys me that the Catholic Church never acknowledged that US Tax payers were paying for their "good works." It, also, raises questions about separation of Church and State.

Slow, boring, cheaply made, and despite it being a true story is was like an AI version of every other "underdog" sports movie ever made.

Also annoyingly woke. Christy is getting physically abused by her fake husband -- and he ends up stabbing and shooting her -- but the movie wants you to think the real bad guy is her mother for not accepting she's a lesbian.

Mark Halperin once explained what these pricey high-tier publications are. All the news services produce them -- AP, Reuters, UPI, and other publications like Politico. They have the type of microscopic data that other news agencies and government agencies need but can't get unless they have "reporters" themselves absolutely everywhere. Halperin defended the services and the prices, BUT -- normally you can get group subscriptions. Apparently, almost no government agency ever bothered to do this. Every desk had its own insanely expensive subscription because it was too much of a bother to set up the group subscriptions.

So that's where some dumb amount of money went.

In fact, the screenshots described government subscriptions to Politico Pro, which added up to millions of dollars. The service offers policy-related resources and tracks news and legislation, and has more than 30,000 subscribers, according to a Politico overview.

If anyone thinks Trump can meaningfully address the corruption, they're in for a surprise. Nobody can. Nobody can even publicly acknowledge its extent.

If you were to clean up this government, there'd be little of it left, and whatever remained would be swept away in the resulting unrest, as millions see their way of life destroyed.

Nothing but time and economic collapse will reform this. The system became more cancer than healthy tissue long ago.

162 Politico has been at the center of a social media misinformation campaign this week, with X users posting screenshots that falsely purported to show millions of dollars funneled from the United States Agency for International Development to the site. Mr. Trump spread a similar message on his Truth Social platform.

In fact, the screenshots described government subscriptions to Politico Pro, which added up to millions of dollars. The service offers policy-related resources and tracks news and legislation, and has more than 30,000 subscribers, according to a Politico overview.

172 Christians questioning their faith is not something that never happens. On the contrary, only an areligious person would assume this… After her death Mother Theresa’s diaries revealed lots of doubt… but the key thing about faith is it’s an action word not an emotional attachment to a belief…. Emotions come and go and move here and there. Faith is actually putting your trust in that belief. Like the old story at the Grand Canyon a tightrope walker traversed that canyon on a wire for his audience and then did it with a 150 lb weight on his back. Then he asked the audience: How many believe I could carry you across? Everyone raised their hand. Next question: Who’ll volunteer to have me carry them across now? Only one person raised their hand. That was the only person in the audience with faith… they acted on their ( intellectual) belief

What naturalists forget about Ockham's razor is that it's about explanations. ex=out, plain=flat.

To lay out flat, clear, obvious. "The universe (somehow) did it" is not an "easier explanation". Especially as regards the methodology of Science.

We learned more about meat and maggots when we checked the presumption that rotting meat just generated maggots. So we learned not to attribute rotting meat with a power it did not exhibit under scrutiny.

It became a much stronger principle of Science: life has not been exhibited to come from non-life. It's an extraordinary claim that should require extraordinary evidence, were atheists more consistent than Democrats.

Thus "something unliving in the universe sprung to life" is NOT scientific. It's the opposite of scientific. It preserves naturalism at the expense of methodology.

We have to find things with sufficiency to do something.

Which is why "God" may be a simple answer, but it is the recognition that whatever did it had sufficient power to do so.

Posted by: mrp at June 08, 2026 03:18 PM (rj6Yv)

197 Leftists don’t believe in God, because it allows them to think of themselves as a deity. Deities are not constrained by the power of an all powerful God of Abraham who is the Creator and has articulated His laws, which are the laws of nature, the natural world and the basis for living tenets like morals. It allows them to avoid the lessons of time, and factual basis for a great deal of societies morals and the social contract. It’s also why these people don’t believe in liberty or freedom. For them it also puts constraints on what they desire to do, whimsically, to their fellow man. You see this in their subversion of constitution, government, law, our schools, our institutions and the fundamental underpinnings of freedom, like our election. Their philosophy has no basis in facts or demonstrable truths, which is why they spend all their time lying, obscuring and subverting conclusions and systems that are provably good and just. This is the very definition of evil, which, you should remember doesn’t come as some Middle Ages painting of a demon. It wears the cloak of liberalism, progressivism and the Democrat Party.

He didn't come across as too brainy, too isolated, or too nerdy, he came across as an idiot.

His name was Anderson, as alluded in the movie, and of course in the movie there is a character called Cipher. Reports are the story was passed around the set and contained the Matrix network and dream world etc etc.

The head of judiciary, SCOTUS, doesn't even have the power to fire judges. They do have some ability to bar judges from types of cases, but these are rare.

It really is insane how pissed the left is that Trump is ruining their recreation of "decaying Soviet city" that they've worked so hard to build in DC.

Like, they are genuinely angry that he's restoring all these fountains and monuments to their original beauty.

It demonic, their rage.

The last good sci fi book I read was called "Calculating God" in which aliens visit earth and find atheism hilarious and bizarre, since EVERY alien race is theistic and they go through a long, overwhelming series of arguments to utterly prove God to the scientists.

It was written by an atheist but he wanted to explore the idea, "what if God really did exist and aliens knew it?"

The book goes very odd places by the end but its a fresh and interesting concept for the story. He got a lot of flack for publishing it at the time

In order to hire an H1B visa holder, you must pay $100M/year, and pay 4x what you'd pay for an American with similar skills. In addition, you give up the right to bid for any government contract.

If Apple would pay $300k/year for an American with a specific skill set, then they have to pay the H1B $1.2M, after paying $100M for the privilege. Apple could not sell iPhones, iPads, or Macs to the US Government or any state or local government.

I'm not even talking about whether it is entertain the absence of a Creator is reasonable--since even the fine-tuning argument, in my opinion, fails to be conclusive, and "you think it all just got here on accident" is also not a convincing argument to me, as an intellectual agnostic, but practicing doctrinal Christian.

But the reasonableness of the case for that lack doesn't excuse the hash they made of everything else they present.

Including "You're wrong and backwards and bad, and you just need to let us kick the can down the road longer...".

356 Never understood just why any alien life would be a challenge to Almighty God. Must be a case of atheists glitching.

Because it makes it hard for humans to come up with a complete enough explanation for why Jesus died for humans on Earth, or what is the effect on the accepted schema to introduce more species to die or not die for.

And your average atheist is going to put it upon you to make sense of it or it "doesn't make sense".

However, enough of them won't take the challenge on "human equality" and "human rights" if they want to preserve those. And they'll just say you must be a bad person if you don't want people to be considered equal or to have rights.

You should see what happens in Las Cruces when the temperatures fall below 50 degrees or there is a hint a trace of snow might fall.

358 >>I think we'll eventually find the universe is teeming with life.

Doubtful, but we at least can be certain that there is no intelligent space traveling life within 12k light years of us.

So we have that going for us.

Startide Rising and the other books in the Uplift books by Brin solve that by having emerging worlds be in effect nature reserves. New sapient species have to serve a patron race for a period because all of them had to be uplifted by another sapient. Humans are unique in that when we were found, we had uplifted dolphins and chimps and gorillas and thus had to be part of the elite club of races, and aren't they pissed about it.

Of course, the idea that everyone had to be uplifted leads to the question of who uplifted the first race.

This is incredibly good news. Say what you will about fiction writers, but they have gamed this out, and it does not end well for the colonized.

361 "...it's a stinging indictment of the previous administration that they wasted so many hard-earned American tax dollars keeping this outlet afloat."

A stinging indictment?

Sub par, but what else could anyone expect?
I really dislike this government.

362 Teddy Roosevelt used to fight people. As president. He had a boxing ring. He wound up with a detached retina as a result. Switched to judo.

You can't hate the media enough. It is a wine karen activation program. Its function is to tell Karen what Trump action to seethe about next. And yes, all the male progressives are Karen's also. My Gawd, Scott Pelley is the biggest Karen of them all. Pulls a I want to speak to your manager routine, and gets fired. Cries about it. I refuse to believe he is a man. There is too much contrary evidence.

363 Universities also do this with Science Journals. Those are marked up an absolute ton.

There was some talk that the NIH and research funded by US grants would not be allowing the grant money to print in the Springer journals, which charge a metric copulating ton amounts to publish the articles -- which until Trump was considered obligatory.
