My once great home state can't get the smaller, single span Key Bridge rebuilt - but sure, let's go ahead and plan for a new Chesapeake Bay Bridge. Much longer and two spans. Great idea!

When will a new Chesapeake Bay Bridge arrive?

Despite the dreary weather this Memorial Day weekend, the Chesapeake Bay Bridge has been very congested with holiday traffic at times – especially after a crash at the start of the eastbound span Friday morning – leaving some drivers wondering when relief will finally come for the aging bridge.


State officials are planning to replace the current bridge with two wider, safer spans, but it’s going to take a while and depend on funding.

After studying alternatives such as building new bridges elsewhere, in December 2025, the Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA) board voted unanimously on a plan that would lead to two new four-lane bridge spans (both with shoulders this time!) that would be built next to the current two spans. The old spans would be torn down.

I'm going to start some kind of non-profit which specializes in some obscure thing that has to be done whenever there is a bridge design / build. Need to get me a piece of that sweet state government largess!

On to a construction project that is actually making progress

Stadium construction begins at White House for UFC Freedom 250

Construction is underway at the White House to build a temporary structure for next month's Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) fight.

President Donald Trump is hosting the UFC Freedom 250 event on the South Lawn on Sunday, June 14, which will mark Flag Day, the day Congress approved the design of a national flag, and the president's 80th birthday.

Tickets are not listed for the 8 p.m. event, which will be available to watch on Paramount+, according to the UFC Freedom 250 website.

Crews have already started assembling the semi-circular structure on the lawn just behind the octagon and stands for people to watch. The structure was made in Pennsylvania and shipped to D.C.

Dana White, the CEO of the UFC, said he plans to keep the White House the backdrop for every fight.

This should be a really kewl event!

8 I saw Gary Wright and Peter Frampton open for The Beach Boys in '76 at Three Rivers Stadium. Wright gave a great opening act but Frampton brought the house down. After his set was finish, most of the concert goers left before the Beach Boys even got started.

66 The quality of the UFC has really diminished over the years. Most of these matchups turn into sparing sessions and go to the judges.

These bouts should never go to the judges. The fighters should decide who wins or it would be acceptable if the ref or the doctor make a ruling. Offer incentives for KO or TKO. I don't want to see sparing on PPV.

There is no liver boudin, it’s pork, rice, trinity, cayenne and other spices. If you had someone put liver in it, yuckaroo. The real stuff is very good. Not smooshy. It’s back swamp, bayou food.

The one I planted last year (pot, but gets near all day direct sun) is STILL alive. Considering the winter we had: multiple single digit temps, a couple ice storms, snow- i did not expect it to survive. I have never had one survive through the winter before. Maybe it was the direct sun.

Its supposed to be a Coral Knockout. Had red and yellow blossoms when it first put them out but has settled into a pink similar to the one you linked. Nastiest thorns on any rose bush I have ever grown too. Thinnest, sharpest little bastards.

My roses have struggled bigly due to drought. Many have died. I still have a nice heirloom rose. Spice Rose. Another called Martha Gonzalez. And Peggy Martin, the rose that survived Hurricane Katrina.
