This style of regional American art from roughly the depression period is right in my wheelhouse. Where that comes from is having spent a bunch of time poking around the rural Western US with a camera and bag of lenses.

These painters aren't Rembrandts from a technical perspective; their talents are elsewhere. As a group they have a singular ability to capture western American culture in transition, half late 19th century with the other half dipping its toes into the technological 20th century.

If they were painting today they would still nail the vastness of the American West and most likely would be capturing F250s with a Starlink antenna on the roof headed towards Amarillo to hear a country band at Starlight Ranch.

Totally would hang.

The left has no real principals or beliefs. You can find the same leftists arguing the stock market growth doesn't matter at all now, arguing that the stock market going down in Apr meant Trump failed, and in the 2020s that a growing stock market means Biden's economy was good.

The stock market is one part of the economy and should be considered but it isn't everything. Of course during the Biden years of 10%+ in real inflation means then you'd need a larger return then that for actual stock market growth.

We would fly out in the a.m., do a morning clinic at one office, break for lunch, do an afternoon clinic at the other office and then fly home. The revenue from the day barely covered the King Air rental and pilot's downtime at a local hotel during the day.

I think there is a museum in Tulsa OK that might have some of his paintings. The lively and exploratory Mrs naturalfake and I have been planning to make a drive along the original Route 66 for a long time after driving along a chunk of Route 66 in New Mexico.

We thought this would be a lot of fun, however-

because of all the "new" interstate highways apparently the original Route 66 has fallen on hard times and disrepair in significant parts of it.

Some places have even become "do not go" areas.

So, that trip has moved down our list of things to do.

Sad.

One can make a closer one between Fed's interest rates and the stock market but not necessarily the US economy.

It may be that the Fed's control of the punchbowl of liquidity (and Congress on spending), control the stock market but the Fed due to Humphrey Hawkins mandate controls the stock market via loose or tight money supply and simultaneously is charged with ensuring employment for Americans.

And that is determined in part by the President, Congress, and the financial community via the Fed board.

Our economic models generally suck because causation gets buried after a couple of layers of murky intervening variables, latency, and the increase in bot trading based on global conditions.

Owing to I-40 being closed for an accident, I took a stretch of Route 66 from Kingman to Seligman a few years ago.

The most charming part was that they still had the old Burma Shave signs ... and yes, those roads are not well-maintained now (I remember we still had and drove on (out to Jean and the State Line) "The Old L.A. Freeway" running south out of Las Vegas paralleling the new I-15 back as a yute in the 60s).

Having just done that trip (Amarillo to Kingman), I say: "Go for it!" I will say that New Mexico has done a pretty good job of promoting the Rte 66 Centennial, and accessible sections of the old routes are well marked. Much of the old 66 has become currently-used frontage roads and secondary highways, and is well-maintained. A few sections are dilapidated, but not much.

It was a very enjoyable tour.

Not in this case. Old trails often took high ridges to avoid being flooded out which is what happened to I-40. Older highways were built often on those pathways at the disadvantage of sight grades, twists and turns, etc. Modern interstates are designed for high speed travel with constant grades, long sight lines, modern interchanges, and lower cost so often and often take river valley routes instead of ridges.

No need to focus on the big areas. I propose Breezewood, PA as the nexus of all evil in the highway system. However, there is hope for the future.

The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission has entered the preliminary engineering and design phase for a new, direct connection between the PA Turnpike (I-76) and I-70 at the Breezewood Interchange.Because the planning, environmental reviews, and geotechnical engineering typically take several years, physical construction of the bypass interchange is still in its early stages and the new route won't be fully operational for a few more years

FWIW, the section of I-40 that washed out was adjacent to a river in the lowlands and the rising water got into the roadbed and washed out the support for the asphalt top layer resulting in the lanes closest to the river disappearing for a stretch and the road bed for the other two lanes also being damaged. Took about a year to fix.

Floods do a lot of damage to the subsurface of roads anyway but add in rushing torrents of water taking out the road subbase, not bueno.

My guess is too much work done on face to deny age. Like Death Becomes Us predicts, plastic surgery of the elites has made their faces repulsive and alien to the regular people and is just one more marker of how this decadent ruling class is not of the people in this Nation.
