I'm normally pretty "meh" when it comes to seascapes. However, this one has a natural photorealism that I really appreciate.
The rocks and their shadows on the right side of the painting serve to break up the monotony of the scene while still maintaining a nice balance to the painting. Looks nice! Posted by: "Perfessor" Squirrel at May 27, 2026 09:33 AM (gnNyN) 15

Okay, I have to learn more about this artist and his works. This is damn near photorealistic. The way he shows the shallow water lapping at the shore, the way the light is hitting the stone, the colors for all of it, the clouds over the ocean, it felt like being on my hometown beach again. It's easy to imagine the soft sounds of the waves as they fade onshore. I would hang this as a reminder of the peace that comes from gentle seas.
I saw a few of his other seascapes on his Wiki page. They are equally as good and effective. CBD, thanks for using this today. It was a joy to look at. Posted by: JTB at May 27, 2026 09:46 AM (yTvNw) 61

Time and Tide, 1873
Alfred Thompson Briche Would hang this lovely painting, so like a photograph. Dallas Museum of Art Alfred Thompson Bricher’s choice of subject deviated slightly from the Hudson River School’s early mission of capturing the grandeur of untouched American wilderness. Rather, Bricher’s work is characterized by exaggerated coastal seascapes and nautical scenes. He spent the majority of his fifty-year career as a landscape painter in Newburyport, Massachusetts--the source of many of his dramatic water scenes. In this painting, Bricher paints the waves as sleek shelves. In the distance, the peaks of sailboats dot the horizon, indicating human presence amidst the ocean waves. Favoring a horizontal composition, Bricher uses the monumentality of his landscapes to achieve an unrivaled luminosity, here seen in the clouds, whose reflection is mirrored on the seashore’s glossy sand surface. Drawing literary allusions in painting titles was quite common during this time. For his title, Bricher draws on a line from Sir Walter Scott’s The Antiquary of 1816: “Time and tide tarry for no man,” recast in 1843 by Charles Dickens in Martin Chuzzlewit to read, “Time and tide." The resurgence of the 80's style Pizza Hut Sit Down Restaurants? As Paul Harvey was famous for saying, "and now, the rest of the story".
Tim Sparks Bought 80+ Pizza Hut Franchises The person who bought 80 Pizza Hut franchises is Tim Sparks, president of Daland Corporation, a Kansas-based company that now operates nearly 100 Pizza Hut locations across the U.S. Sparks, who grew up loving Pizza Hut and worked in the chain as a dishwasher and manager in the 1980s, has been leading a major transformation of his portfolio. He’s converting many of the over 80 franchises into “Pizza Hut Classic” retro-style restaurants that recreate the 1980s and 1990s dining experience. Time and Tide wait for no man.
No man is an island. No trees. No dog. Tiny distant sailboats. Y'call this art?😜 Clouds and waves are nicely done. The sunlit peak gives the scene nice balance. Looks like distant rain on the left. Don't often see that in paintings, but see it often out here in prairieland. And it's not muddy and dark. Yesterday's work was especially muddy on my laptop. I copied it to my paint program and greatly increased the lightness and contrast and it was much better. On the cell, for some reason, it was more clear and crisp without adjustment. Leaves me wondering what it would look like in real life. In person. Whatever. Good morning. Me Texting: Hey, where is X? Her: X is over on A. I know X isn't on A, but there is a whole process you have to follow so I first look at A and find no X. Me: It's not there. Her: No, I know it is at A or B. See that? I'll have you know, A and B are nowhere related. Not, like the same cabinet just upper or lower shelf. No, completely different locations. So I go look at B. Still no X. Me: It's not at B either. Her: No, I saw it there just the other day it has to be there. At this point the only thing I can do is use my phone and take pictures of A & B with their entire contents arrayed out in front. Me: See... it's not there Her: You are just not looking hard enough. Ilhan Omar's (D., Minn.) endorsement, was a 26-year-old medical student when Abdel-Rahman's lawyers put him on the stand to deny charges that the Blind Sheikh—whose followers carried out the 1993 World Trade Center bombing—had called for the murder of then-Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak. LOL, cry more, Chuck! These people who went overboard with their praise of the "very active" but never seen RBG and the near-vegetable Biden think they can now tell us how active or not Trump is. Posted by: Lizzy at May 27, 2026 10:53 AM (X8xt3) 229

C!
So A, B, and C are about as far apart as could be in the same house. A is 17 feet under the house's corner foundation, requires a backhoe, maybe some explosives and requires disturbing at least 3 ancient indian burial grounds. B is on top the roof's highest ridge and is guarded by pterodactyls. There's no use just fighting them you have to distract them with berries. It's no easy task finding the right berries that pterodactyls like because their diet mostly consists of questing husbands. So this takes a long time. C,... C is in the deepest bowels of the house, down a twisty labyrinth of tunnels that all look alike and finally a hellmouth. The hellmouth is guarded by an ancient Oni in the form of a monstrously large red beetle. In exchange for allowing you to pass into the hellmouth you have to pledge your immortal soul to the beetle, which, I mean, the beetle is ok really, and you get 4 weeks of vacation, so I say yes, and go in, and of course the hellmouth is thick with balrogs, I have an exterminator come out every 3 months but they can only do so much. And I find X. Me: It was at C. Her: I told you. Posted by: banana Dream at May 27, 2026 10:53 AM (3uBP9) Posted by: Way, Way Downriver at May 27, 2026 10:54 AM (zdLoL) 232

Posted by: ballistic at May 27, 2026 10:56 AM (oqH4h) ======= The problem is the practicalities. How, when, who. The system was gobbled up by centralizing money in the hands of the establishment. They held tight to control. Also, primary challengers rarely have decent name recognition which means they just get drowned out. Paxton was a perfect storm, hard to replicate. To replicate, that will take time, focus, and planning. Posted by: TheJamesMadison, discovering British horror with Hammer Films at May 27, 2026 10:58 AM (pT0dx) 240

There's more!
The New York Times reported on Hamawy's participation in the trial at the time, but dozens of pages of testimony reviewed by the Washington Free Beacon reveal a yearslong relationship between the congressional candidate and the jihadist leader. Front Page Magazine first reported on their connection. Hamawy and Abdel-Rahman met in 1991 when the Islamist firebrand delivered a lecture at Matawan-Aberdeen Middle School in Cliffwood, N.J. From there, the Egyptian-born Hamawy said, he followed the Blind Sheikh to speaking events at mosques, visited the cleric in his home, and provided him with translation help. During his testimony, which Hamawy began with a traditional "salam alaykum" greeting to the Blind Sheikh, he described taking a 13-hour car journey with Abdel-Rahman and some of his associates to a conference in Detroit called "Towards a Global Islamic Economy." . . . .Several other speakers at the conference were well-known figures in the world of Islamist terrorism. After Abdel-Rahman spoke, attendees heard from Dr. Ahmad Nofal, a Holocaust denier who has falsely accused Israelis of harvesting the organs of Palestinians.
