Mystery click - Happy Birthday to Martin Blunt, bassist of The Charlatans Kyle Busch R.I.P. NASCAR icon Kyle Busch dies at the age of 41 ![]() Image from nascar.com NASCAR icon Kyle Busch, a two-time Cup Series champion who won more races across the sport's three national series than any driver in history, has died at the age of 41, the racing series announced Thursday. The Busch family, Richard Childress Racing and NASCAR issued a joint statement Thursday, saying that Busch died after being hospitalized earlier in the day as the result of a severe illness, three days before he was to compete at the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway. No cause of death was given. "On behalf of the Busch family, everyone at Richard Childress Racing and all of NASCAR, we are devastated to announce the sudden and tragic passing of Kyle Busch," NASCAR said in a statement. "Our entire NASCAR family is heartbroken by the loss of Kyle Busch. A future Hall of Famer, Kyle was a rare talent, one who comes along once in a generation. He was fierce, he was passionate, he was immensely skilled and he cared deeply about the sport and fans."More from ESPN • 2-time NASCAR Cup Series Champion (2015, 2019)Prayers up for his family and loved ones. ----- Does that cake cutting include a happy ending?? Beverly Hills Restaurant Responds After $110 Cake Cutting Fee Goes Viral A rooftop restaurant in Beverly Hills responded after a viral social media post claimed it charged a $110 cake cutting fee during a group dinner. The restaurant, Poza, is located on top of L’Ermitage Beverly Hills and came under criticism after a food influencer shared a photo of the bill on Instagram. The influencer, known as @justinelovesushi, posted that the restaurant added a cake cutting fee of $10 per person for a party of 11 people. The total dinner bill was more than $1,100, but the extra charge quickly became the center of attention online. The video received more than 355,000 views and thousands of comments. Many people debated whether the cake cutting fee was reasonable. Some users said high-end restaurants often charge service fees when customers bring in outside desserts. Others felt the restaurant should have clearly explained the cake cutting fee before serving the cake. *** After the backlash, Poza released a public response on Instagram. The restaurant apologized and admitted the guests should have been informed about the cake cutting fee when they brought the cake into the restaurant.Yet another reason to stay the eff out of California ----- What came first - the bio-engineered chick or the 3D-printed egg? Bio-Engineering Company Hatches Chicks Out of Completely Artificial Eggs A Dallas-based biotech company claims to have developed a “fully artificial egg” that allows it to hatch a variety of avian species, which could, theoretically, allow it to bring back extinct species and help save endangered ones. One of the stated goals of Colossal Biosciences is to bring back the South Island giant moa (Dinornis robustus), a 3-metre-tall New Zealand bird that went extinct in the 14th century. Colossal Biosciences’s artificial egg looks like a simple plastic cup, but it’s a small 3D-printed miracle that allows chicken embryos to develop into living chicks. The true innovation lies in the silicone membrane coating the inside of the lattice structure, which allows sufficient oxygen to pass through, just like that of a natural egg. *** Interestingly, Japanese scientists successfully hatched quail chicks from artificial eggs in 1998, and others have done so with other bird species since, but their system required oxygen supplementation, which caused some chicks to suffer genetic defects or fail to hatch altogether. The membrane created by Colossal Biosciences allows enough oxygen to permeate naturally.Just because we CAN do this, does that mean we SHOULD?? ----- Life hacks!

One of the most interesting things about Bowie's "Let's Dance" album is that it was a deliberate slap at his previous manager. Apparently, after they sued each other, Bowie had to pay a percentage of royalties from his next few albums.
So Bowie did his "Berlin" trilogy, great albums but poor sellers. As soon as the judgement was done, Bowie released "Let's Dance." His commercial powerhouse. Hard to think of a better FU than that. Posted by: BeckoningChasm at May 21, 2026 10:14 PM (CHHv1) 27

Our church kitchen inherited a food warmer, on of the tall cabinet type appliances. We removed the electric portion and cleaned as much grime off it as we could and took it to the self serve car wash. Blasted the balance of the grime off, let it dry for a couple days and reinstalled the electric warming unit.

Well, some of that strange clear liquid is falling from the sky. I vaguely remember that from the Before Time. Seriously, we are getting pretty dry here, and I'm about 7" behind normal for the year. If the forecast holds, this may make a dent in that. And it will spread out for about a week, not too much at one time, to let it soak in. Too bad about Kyle Busch. Too young. Like him or hate him, the guy didn't know how to lose. He lived to race.
Posted by: Rev. Wishbone at May 21, 2026 10:11 PM (D1E+2) Yeah, he was my favorite driver back when I watched it regularly. I'll always remember that season when he broke his leg at Daytona, and because NASCAR admitted they should have had SAFER barrier installed where he hit, they gave him a waiver on the rule that you had to be in each race of the season to be eligible for the championship. He then won the championship. And he was always the guy to watch if he was in third place on a late race restart, because he was always going to 'make something happen' going into turn 1. Traded four joints for a bottle of wine with David Bowie in 1974. My friend and classmate worked evenings as a gas jockey at an Amoco Station right next to the NY Thruway in Rockland County. If I had nothing to do, I'd go see him. The owner let us use the lift.
A white stretch Lincoln pulled in to gas up. The driver asked us if we had any weed. (We looked the part). Said it was for Bowie. Looked into the car and sure enough it was. We quickly went and rolled him a couple joints each and were given a bottle of wine in return. David didn't get out of the car. They were headed to Albany area, IIRC Posted by: Brush With Greatness. at May 21, 2026 10:48 PM (oftw2) 115

David Bowie was a big fan of the Uncle Floyd Show in the 70s and 80s and told John Lennon, David Peel, and David Johansen
about it and they became fans too. In 2002, David wrote a song about watching the Uncle Floyd Show called Slip Away. Floyd was touched by it, but was more touched by the very big check David sent him. Some kind of royalties from the song. Floyd said it was very generous and David didn't have to do that. i think Bowie was a decent sort. It's a peaceful song, It was on Youtube last I checked. Okay the cost to rent a Bissell rug cleaning machine at HEB is $40 . Been a long time since I rented one. ( 30 years)
Posted by: Harry Vandenburg Little kids are messy. So I bought a steam cleaner for doing the carpets. Results were so-so. Wife insisted we use Stanley-Steamer. I kept using the cleaner I bought.. She went ahead and called and paid for Stanley-Steamer. It was $100-$150. Worked great. I should make space and toss the cleaner I bought. I had some rough operational casement and awning aluminum windows. After wiping some dust and crap out of the tracks I sprayed them with wd40 and the difference for over a year now is night and day.

BTW, I Have solved the electrical issues with the convertible. I think the neutral safety switch is not being sufficiently depressed by the shift lever when in Park. I did not want to tear the entire shifter apart to attempt a repair at this time. Cut the wire to the "S" stud on the solenoid; spliced in a wire, fed it through the firewall, and repurposed the aftermarket power antenna switch as a starter switch. Turn key on, flip up the spring-loaded bat handle of the antenna switch, and the car starts. Easy-peasy. And the power top wire, I spliced in a new hunk of wire, so it's now safe from shorting out. Done and done.
