Having paid 9.5% interest for 10 years on a rather large amount that was not even deductible, I have ZERO sympathy for student loan debtors. My graduate degree was on scholarship.

Yes, Brave works fine everywhere else. But there is actually no Brave on iOS either, or any browser but Safari, webkit. Apple does not allow any browser backend to be installed on their phone hardware. Brave on iOS is just a skin of Safari webkit and it is not as functional as it is elsewhere. Much more limited, and who knows what apple is doing in the background.

46 I strongly recommend the Autarky app for iOS users, or the equivalent outside of iOS. It allows you to block requests external to the site you’re on. Some of the files being served by the ad server on the AOSHQ look a lot like malicious files.

It's tedious, but there's a way to interrupt the infinite reloads on iOS (any browser, since they're all safari.)

You have to let the "loading" bar get to 50-90%, then hit the "x" on the address bar to stop loading. That stops the reloading. Hit the "comments" link and then its okay.

It's funny that the auto-reload works even with javascript disabled.

It's also funny that an ad would want to do that, since it will only stop reloading when the ad server sends up some other ad that doesn't do it. So you wrote an ad with special code to..... make sure nobody ever sees your ad? Bangalore's D- team, at your service!

Mine was recently encapsulated (and dehumidifier and sump pump installed) and sealed up for rodent exclusion so I have been brave enough to get in there a couple times. There is still water getting in, which has got to get resolved. I can't be going down there with a 3 gallon shop vac after every rain.

The few times I've been down there I immediately get in the shower afterwards. I don't know how guys work in those space for a living, but I appreciate them very much.

Right when my daughter started talking and reasoning well enough and being able to get around for a long duration I took her to the mall to pick out a gift for her mom. Her first Mother's day gift. I think it was around 3yo. We get there and nothing interests her until, she starts bolting for this one store. No idea what it was. Coach. She wouldn't leave, had to get something there. Purses. I got one with ladybugs she loved. Wife still carries it everywhere. $$$$

Chicks man.

A funny story... My last house had a crawl space that was inhabited by cats. You could hear them at night fighting/screwing? And then they had a fight and all moved out. Within a few months we had rodent issues.

I found this out when one night I was alone in the house and heard movement, clanging around in the attic. I set trail cams up there and saw the rats. We had the crawlspace rodent proofed like you.

But the smart things would be for some kind of rent a cat service and get the cats back under the house.

I heard activity in my attic and a wall last week. It freaked me out. Have had 2 guys out to check, no entry points found, but it's still a bit of a mystery. To be honest I'm waiting for something to start smelling as they indicate there is no way in or out.

I have sort of overcome my fear of the crawl space, but I will never go in the attic. The access point is a tiny rectangle in the top of the hall closet. I am not sure how my pest control tech got up there the other day, but it was a bit of a production.

I have never claimed nor wanted to be a Stronk Independent Womyn. I want brave men to do these things for me and will pay for these Skills.

94 We have a home that also has a crawlspace underneath. Once the neighbors started having horses and goats and chickens, after maybe 15 years of no issues we started having rodent issues. Nothing would eliminate them, apparently because the greenies made it so nothing truly lethal could be used. A feral cat or two that we see once in a while apparently moved in. It's a good place for them as we have natural coyotes and hawks so most of the outside is dangerous. Haven't heard a rodent since so hope they stick around for a long while

Yeah they are apparently evolutionary wonders at being able to crawl up the side of a house, generally through interior openings. They have to generally hunt and get food & water outside. So they go in and out daily. Hunt at night I think, sleep in your house in the day. They are also perfectly happy pooping in your house, just not exactly where they sleep. The exterminators need to identify a path to set traps and that can be hard.

For Rush fans, Rick Beato uploaded his interview of Alex Lifeson.

He had previously released his video with Geddy.

I have a sneaking suspicion he's going to interview Anika as well.

I watched some of it. Very interesting. Beato is a good interviewer. I'll be interested in how Rush sounds with the new drummer. We'll see how she does on Tom Sawyer and some of the more complicated songs. She was a drummer for Jeff Beck so complicated song structures shouldn't be an issue.

125 If you are worried about Lyme and other tick-borne diseases, which you should be, the X account "Give A Shit About Nature" (@giveashitnature) recommends putting up an "owl box". Which I guess means a shelter for owls.
Owls apart from looking cute hunt mice. Mice host the bad kind of tick, not that there are may good kinds.
The only problem I have with owls is their "hoo hoo hoo" nonsense in the middle of the night. Shaddup and catch mice.

127 Nick Freitas told an interesting story. He said he was sitting next to a leftist on a plane and they got to talking about politics. He boiled the conversation down as: we mostly see the same problems, and we both want to solve them. But my take is let's you and I volunteer our time and resources to solve them. You on the other hand want to force people to "help" in the way you think appropriate and you are willing to harm people that dissent from your solution.

Its a fair argument.

I then looked at the comments and of course, of course, the first leftist comment is, "That's just because YOU people don't actually want to help the poor".

And honestly, I don't know whether to argue back, "Yeah because as you can see in inner city Detroit your solution has worked so well" or "You are making his point - the only way people are allowed to solve a problem is your way, and if you aren't forcing them it doesn't count"

For a couple of weeks I found every movie I watched had Sydney Sweeney in them. I wasn't choosing them that way, it just ended up that I or my GF would pick a movie and she was in it. Sweeney's not a bad actress and obviously she's easy on the eyes.

Pascal is all over the place in a similar manner. But...he's not as good of an actor as she is (not that he's the worst either). And its not like he's bringing looks or a big fan base either. I won't turn off a movie if he's in it but...it better be interesting before he shows up (like that movie he is in with Nick Cage).

137 I had a part in today's local Memorial Day ceremony.

I was given a carnation, and during Roll Call of the veterans buried in the cemetery since last Memorial Day, I walked from the shelter to the American flag pole, and placed my flower with the others circling the flag pole with the other flowers.

Democrat Governor Laura Kelly was a no show today. She was listed in advertising the event, but the program did not have her listed.

I was with one of the widows I walk with. We met two recent widows there, and I did my best to comfort them.

Overall, a respectful time, with lots of reflection on fate to go with the ceremonies.

I did note that three participants in US Army uniforms (From 1st Armored Combat Brigade Team of the 1st Infantry Division) did not look as stylish as the US Navy ones. But the soldiers sure looked the part of lean, mean, warriors.

The houses I'm seeing in Terre Haute appeal to me as much as the Kansas ones did, but have lower taxes and home insurance rates. And I like the TH houses more than the ones I see in Owensboro, KY.

A bungalow this is, 3 BR - 1 bath, with a porch, partial basement, and two-car garage. And it *looks* like all I'd have to arrange is the repainting of two walls (maybe I could do that myself) and replacement of carpet in three rooms. The carpet is *over* hardwood, so maybe the floors would just need to be peeled and refinished.
