Midweek Burn-Out Cafe

mongolianinnerchild.jpg
Inner Mongolian Child
by Han Chengli

A duck stretches his legs.

Stealthy predator.

Panda enjoying his toys.

Dog gets a diploma.

Don't mess with a cat. They play for blood.

Boys and girls are completely 100% the exact same. Their gender is just assigned by tightass parents.

Little turtle backs away from a big ol' river monster.

Bee break.

Sleepy time.

Good night!

Wait, you say, wouldn't that be fraud? Maybe not because she has weasel words in the fundraiser about 'personal expenses.'

49 I don't always leap out of bed like a ninja, but when I do it's because of a leg cramp.

The one I suffered Monday morning was scary. I actually felt a crunching sensation. I almost went to the ER, but did not, because I am an old coot who chooses to walk it off. What are they gonna do, tell me to rest it, alternate hot and cold, take ranger candy. Hell, I can do that myself, without adding to the medical insurance burden.

And now, I am doing well. Still a little tender, but nothing horrific. I was able to take a short walk around the block at work. Almost normal speed.

For any fellow skywatchers, the waxing crescent Moon will be close to Jupiter in the west after sunset this evening. It won't be as close to Jupiter as it was to Venus the other night, but you'll still get a show, with bright Venus below.

Also, per the calendar month definition, the lunation will be a dreaded Blue Moon (2nd of two full Moons in a calendar month) May 31st. So, if there's anything you only do once in a Blue Moon, heads up to get in gear for that.

The obsessive yawping about the smell of a bird one is unlikely ever to encounter, except through one's own free choice, strikes me as an exercise in the most tedious puerility. I finally came to the conclusion that affording Spheniscidaphobes the dignity of a response is similarly pointless, and equally silly. I am confident in the permanence of the penguin race, and, although these noble birds face very real perils in life, they have nothing to fear from the sniffish disdain shown by a handful of monomaniacs who suffer from acute phantosmia (incidentally, I respectfully refer these unfortunates to the peer-reviewed scientific study, Psychosomatic Attributes of Corrupted Olfaction).

After all, it's not as if we were debating something of real importance – for example, the sublimity of yaks, or the gaping inadequacy of evolutionary theory to explain the continued existence of pandas.

174 Speaking of Old Crimes

I read that an FBI informant claimed that Teddy Kennedy had another one of the Boiler Room gals with him at Chappaquidick. Her purse was found in the car.

The claim is they crashed, got out, had a big laugh about it (witnesses who lived in the area claimed they heard laughing) and walked back to the party. It was only then that someone noticed Mary Jo was missing. Someone at the party mentioned she was tired and went to sleep in the back seat of Kennedy’s car.

I don’t know how true it is, but it makes more sense than anything Kennedy said about it.

Good joke over at Insty

A JFK conspiracy theorist dies and goes to heaven. At the Pearly Gates, God greets him. “Welcome. You are permitted to ask me one question, which I will answer truthfully.”

The man asks, “Who really shot Kennedy?”

God replies, “Lee Harvey Oswald shot him from the sixth floor of the Texas School Book Depository. There were no accomplices. He acted alone.”

The man pauses. “Shit. This goes higher up than I thought.”

I don't know if you are on X or if you follow Data Republican but she just put out a report detailing as only she can the amount of money sloshing around in the NGO system and the links between various organizations. Current data.

I haven't had time to read it yet but she tweeted out links to it and the top line number these groups have to spend and the number of people employed, at least formally, by these organizations.

The dollar amount is 32 billion, with a b, and the number of employees is over 200,000. The government faucet might be shut down or at least slowed a lot but they still have plenty of money and staff.

These groups are supposedly funding other leftwing efforts like election cheating, my term, and other political actions. But I think it would be foolish to assume some of that $32 billion isn't going to street action. It's page 1 in the left's playbook.

I was in an open 12 ft craft and got caught in a thunderstorm. Took shelter under a cantilevered dock. Of course, the wind was blowing the rain in my direction. Thought about running to the other side of the lagoon, when a sheet of lightening came down about fifty feet to my left. I heard a hum, and then an ungodly crack of thunder. A few minutes later, the rain stopped and the skies cleared. Got home and mom got on the phone to the Coast Guard to call off the search. They appreciated that...

While avoiding impugning the dead, no one had anything good to say? 217 A lot of what Congress does in those areas is codify the existing arrangements. Banks were already too big to fail. Might as well cement that in, make it look legal.

Repealing Glass-Steagall just recognized what was already de facto law? Banks couldn’t sell Insurance, and Insurance co. were supposed to stay out of banking. Fuck it, YOLO, right?
