Ideological political stance is more important that some 7 year old getting shot while buying an ice cream. Great! Drown in that. Enjoy.

Sec. Sean Duffy died today during a Congressional hearing. In a heated argument between Duffy and Senator Gillibrand, Duffy claimed the senator was a hypocrite regarding private flights. Gillibrand shouted back "I've never been on a private jet!". Almost instantaneously, her nose explosively grew forward in length, impaling and killing Sean Duffy in less than a second.

95 LOL

House Democrats plan to oppose a bill to establish terms for building a Smithsonian women’s history museum on the National Mall because Republicans added language to limit its subjects to biological females.

The House is set to vote on the bill Thursday. It’s expected to pass with some bipartisan support but far fewer Democratic votes than a previous bipartisan version of the bill would have earned.

The drop in Democratic support could jeopardize the measure’s chances of passing the Senate, where it would need support from at least seven Democrats to clear a filibuster.

131 Frank employed a male prostitute as a personal aide, then fired him when he learned in 1989 that the man was operating an escort service out of the congressman’s apartment. The two originally met when Frank answered an ad in the Washington Blade that read, “Hot bottom plus large endowment equals a good time.”

Frank sought to portray himself as a dutiful liberal trying to help a poor lost soul. The Ethics Committee, after a lengthy investigation, found him guilty of fixing the man’s parking tickets but not having sex in the House gym; he was reprimanded by his colleagues and still serves in Congress.

189 The National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) just posted its best year-to-date fundraising numbers in Committee history, hauling in a total of $57.6 million, capped by a strong $10.4 million in April alone.

The historic haul is the latest proof of a cycle-long trend: House Republicans continue dominating Democrats in the money race. From the NRCC continuing to outraise the DCCC, to the NRCC raking in its strongest Q1 in history, and swing-district Republicans continuing to outraise vulnerable House Democrats.

You need the better quality ones that automatically adjust cooking time based on the moisture level of the cooking rice.

YumAsia makes a Panda version that is excellent (does other things too like steam veggies, porridge, etc.). Use their cup for measuring rice, add water to the line. and Voila. The Panda is fine for two people to four, they make a larger one for bigger families.

Another reminder is to rinse the rice before cooking as it softens the rice prior to being put in.

--------

Measure both ingredients by weight and rinse your rice under coldish waterz preferably in a sieve. Jasmine rice ratio is 1.25 water for every 1 of rice (all by weight, so 12 oz rice to 15 oz water). Basmati is 1.5.

If you rinse your rice though you need to account for the water you already added to it which will be a couple oz taken off your water measurement.

Safari and apple suck on their browser. Reason why I don't use apple products as safari is subpar crapware and they won't allow others to create anything other than a shell over the Safari code.

Brave is just a shell over Safari on Apple as are other skins but the underlying browser code is Safari. I am not sure that another native browser can work without circumventing Apple's cage around apps.

Brave is a shell over Chrome as is Vivaldi, Edge, (Opera is now I think) and the other major browser that still uses its own code is Firefox. There are some oddballs out there mainly for niche users like Supermium, etc.

Apple makes damn good hardware but it is intentionally a gated garden which makes interconnectivity outside that garden far harder than it needs to be and much more expensive.

Yep. YumAsia's is a superhard ceramic non stick cooking bowl which makes it extremely easy to clean, just wipe out the dried starch. Has a short grain/long grain button and brown rice along with porridge and other settings.

And at least the version I have, also makes lower carb rice by cooking off some of the starches. Beeps when it approaches 10 minutes left and then counts down until done.

Japanese Toshiba, Panasonic, and some others make top notch rice cookers with all the bells and whistles but I find the YumAsia cooker easier to use.

Being governor is generally a more difficult but more rewarding job. We can do a quick and dirty job comparison and say that since there’s 435 Congressmen but only 100 Senators, each Senator is worth 4.35 Congressmen. But there’s only 50 Governors, so each one of them is worth 2 Senators.

Of course some are more equal than others.

Huh?

I just use the pre-measured cup that comes with the cooker (Zojirushi) and raise water level after rinsing to the pre-marked cooking vessel and depress the cook button. Basmati, Jasmine, Long Grain, Calrose, it don't matter. I even make Spanish Rice in it, using the specified ingredients and raising the liquid amount to the mark with water.

The overflow collector and design of the machine to account for minute differences in amounts of water. If I was having that much trouble, I would consider a different machine.

Buy one at an Asian food store, or a Zojirushi at Amazon.

One reason is to reduce the arsenic levels as rice does pick up that from soils and pollutants. The second is that it does soften the rice a bit for cooking, washes away some of the starchy bits and husk bits, and other less desirable detritus.

If you get into a conversation with Asians, they will split into rinse and no rinse and start arguing about it. I do it, it works for me, and will continue to do it. You do whatever you want to do.

Instant rice, however, you will see no benefit other than removing detritus as it is parboiled so it cooks a lot faster. In essence, somewhat prewashed already.

Good to know.
