There's going to be a conjunction of Venus and Jove on Jun 8 - 9. Every evening at sunset, you'll see Venus getting higher and higher, approaching Jupiter.

saw that just the other day, but in a reverse. A randy cottontail was chasing one of the female feral domestic rabbits around my neighborhood. Outside my back window whilst brewing coffee. He was smaller than she. I did not stick around to see if he succeeded, because I am not a perve.

My 'hood is famous for having a huge population of formerly domestic rabbits all over the damn place. What we need is a handful of foxes and coyotes. But then, that creates a new problem...

Ummm...that's how Eratosthenes calculated the Earth's diameter, as far back as 240BC. heheard that there was a well in egypt where the sun hit to bottom (i.e. no shadows) on a certain day if the year. Compared that to a stick stuck in the ground a couple hundred miles away on the same day, and using proto-trigonmetery, very accurately calcualtred the Earth's circumference and diameter.

I ran into a jackrabbit late one afternoon, in Utah. His head was hidden, kinda wrapped around the top of my front bumper, with his body and cute big legs hanging out. Strangely no sign of damage to the visible part. Freeing him was not pleasant though.

C. 1995 some of it was actually quite economical.
Go to local travel agency in person and get books of inter-island airlines ticket vouchers for $15-$20 each way. Book hotel at baggage claim (unused time shares for about $40 a night).

Buying fresh veggies by the pound did shock me, but they have high transport cost. Two Whoppers for $2 still a thing. I used to joke about the Whoper being a salad Burger. In Hawaii you'd get the same bun and patty but just a sorry ass tomato slice that could be from a cherry tomato, a piece of brownish lettuce, and a couple pieces of onion. But the local One Choi / Two Choi plate lunches were a good value. And the really out of the way local plate lunch places had Hawaiian sized servings.

It's been 2 months and nobody is dying right now. Meanwhile Iran is imploding and the entire structure of the Middle East is changing for the better. China is hurting and new alliances are being created.

Remember what happened after the US crushed Iraq in a long weekend? ISIS happened. I thought the beauty was...overblown. There were a couple of spot along the Road to Hana that didn't feel like things I could get in Appalachia (but with palm trees).

I'm open to seeing the Big Island, though that's mostly because I recently learned the my great uncle is listed on a marker there for KIA in WWII bombing raids, and I'd like to see that.

The voting public's vulnerability isn't just the body bags. It's the constant drumbeat of "nothing's happening, but it could easily get worse for us at any moment" the media feeds much of them. Sanctions/blockades take a very long time to have any real effect on a nation's decision makers, so we're not talking about the two months that it has been, but the years down the road this will take.

I'm sure the President appreciates your faith, but the truth of the matter is that he clearly hasn't killed enough of the IRGC to really get their attention yet.

Oregon has a ballot measure this cycle to allow the state to increase the gas tax and registration fees in the state to do even more wonderful things like motor-voter and roundabouts on highways.
Gas is now $5.22 a gallon at the cheapest, so I am not sure there is going to be much enthusiasm, at least among the actual voters.

This blockade won't take years. Iran's economy is based on oil and they are losing billions. Inflation is chasing Zimbabwe levels. I bet they are getting some strongly worded letters from China because China's economy relies on cheap oil from Venezuela, oops, and Iran, oops.

None of us know all the backstage conversations that are happening but this is way bigger than just Venezuela and Iran. Trump is shifting the balance of global power. I doubt everything will go perfect but this is exactly what I voted for. No more can kicking, ass kicking.

It is rerouting oil that used to go through Hormuz straits. By the time things mellow out, Iran will be the only ones trying to ship out that way, everyone else will have pipelines.
