Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | Wednesday Night ONT - May 20, 2026 [TRex]![]() Good evening Horde. The time has come for mid-week shenanigans. This will be a colorful ONT. The bar is open. Welcome to the Wednesday night ONT which means another edition of random overnight fun and games. Pull up a chair and sit a spell. Good will offerings of amusing puns are happily accepted and are eligible for comment of the week consideration. Pants are optional (but pants or the lack of pants has no role in comment of the week consideration). Be nice to your fellow commenters and AoS contributors (being nice has an impact on comment of the week consideration). This is a Tucker, Candace, Megyn and Bill Kristol free zone. Please (violations definitely impact comment of the week consideration). Will you be smarter after reading this ONT? Will you be better looking? Will you be more fun at parties? Will you lose weight? Will you be wealthier? Will you be more fashionable? If you skip the content, you'll never know![Top photo: Guess how many jelly beans are in the jar.] ![]() ![]() Introducing Pantone Color of the Year 2026, PANTONE 11-4201 Cloud Dancer, a lofty white that serves as a symbol of calming influence in a society rediscovering the value of quiet reflection. A billowy white imbued with serenity, PANTONE 11-4201 Cloud Dancer encourages true relaxation and focus, allowing the mind to wander and creativity to breathe, making room for innovation. No offense to "Cloud Dancer," but with all the possibilities and candidates, the color of the YEAR perhaps could involve something with...more color? This must be a troll or a practical joke, right? Maybe Leatrice Eiseman, the Executive Director, Pantone Color Institute explains: At this time of transformation, when we are reimagining our future and our place in the world, PANTONE 11-4201 Cloud Dancer is a discrete white hue offering a promise of clarity. The cacophony that surrounds us has become overwhelming, making it harder to hear the voices of our inner selves. A conscious statement of simplification, Cloud Dancer enhances our focus, providing release from the distraction of external influences.Nope. Playdough is going to make a special edition to showcase the "color." I think. I'm not sure whether they're kidding or not. Does it matter? ![]() ![]() ![]()

________________________________ There are, absolutely, no jelly beans in that jar. That is a traditional Irish Trophy jar found in Nephin Beg mountain range in County Mayo. You'll find it in Wild Nephin Ballycroy National Park. Under sworn oath of the family crest, generational residents in this area of Ireland hunt Leprechauns. The honor of the family is based on successful hunts, so a trophy jar became the common display of prowess. In that jar are Leprechaun testicles. Posted by: Orson at May 20, 2026 10:30 PM (dIske) 117

But we kids didn't mind, as long as we had a tree. And the tree was bright and full of colors. On Christmas eve Dad would drive us around the rich part of town to see the fancy decorations and also to get us sleepy so when we got home we were ready to go to bed. Wild thing, you make my heart sing, TRex.
Thanks for the colorful ONT. The Jellybean song was even before my time. I'd been hatched but had better things to do than rock out, age 3yrs. I had a record player, however, and my brother and I played Davy Crockett, King of the Wild Frontier often. And others that my mother probably let someone rip us off from the attic a few years ago. Worth a billion or so. I "won" a little record at the school Halloween bazarre/bizarre. It was called "From a Jack to a Queen" and I used to dance to it sometimes. My childhood was often dangerous as I once singed my starched petticoat backing up to the gas heater to warm up my behind. I told my Daddy that I was "hotting up." It was winter in an old house with 14' ceilings. I think it was worth it. If you didn't wear starched petticoats you missed out. Yes, I realize this dates me to the Civil War Era. That Cloud Dancer color is lame except for trim or maybe the exterior of a house. Jim Morrison's songs are growing on me as some favorites on my playlist. He was crazy as he could be and messed up from his pedo father.
I read a story last year about him now being dead but not dying and buried in Paris. He was old and living in NH and a photo of him being old with a scar where his facial mole was looked real. And if anyone knows facial moles and remembers it is me, the resident dermatologist of AOS. My favorite song of his is Wild Night. LOVE IT! Man, dance to the downbeat and saxophone, y'all! Morrison was a strange cat.
His dad was an Admiral in the US Navy, and highly doubtful he was untoward in any way to son. Robby Krieger has a pretty good autobiography about the Doors years. Posted by: Common Tater at May 20, 2026 11:44 PM (+0VYM) 297

> Couldn't get metallic green in California. Some chemical compound in it was oooh scary.
Posted by: Joe Kidd at May 20, 2026 11:41 PM (nbLIj) Undoubtedly too late to have been arsenic compounds, which make for some spectacular colors, particularly green ("Paris green"). There are 19th Century books where librarians and museum folks have to wear hazmat gear to handle them... I guess it's not just toxic when it's new, but becomes more so over time as it breaks down and releases the arsenic. Posted by: Rodrigo Borgia at May 20, 2026 11:45 PM (IG3/x) 301
Boring inoffensive car colors are most common now because so many cars are leased, and the dealers and auto manufacturers want cars they can resell easily when the lease is up.
Twenty (gulp) years ago, we bought a Saab wagon. We wanted a stickshift, and to find one that wasn't silver or black or white (we got a nice dark red called merlot), we had to look three states away. When the lock down eased up we went to our favorite restaurant. We asked for a menu and were told, no menus anymore. You have to use your phone to scan the thing on the placard. We left. Our phones then weren't smart phones. Went home and ate a sandwich, lol. Posted by: four seasons at May 20, 2026 11:47 PM (3ek7K) 304

She kept growing a gigantic garden (like half an acre... cultivated by hand) and canning hundreds of pounds of stuff every year.... possibly just in case the newfangled stuff stopped working. They were both born before the first flight of the Wright brothers, and lived to see space travel.
