Dali designed a pavilion at the 39-40 NY World's Fair that featured topless mermaids swimming about. It was not the only topless attraction there. There was an outdoor exhibit of ladies with no tops doing such things as playing badminton, sunning themselves, etc. Billed as a naturist thing. Most of the girls were from burlesque houses, which were still popular at the time. Admission was extra. Posted by: Free The Nipple! at May 19, 2026 09:39 AM (oftw2) 57

How some stuff makes it into museums and goes into history as "great art" is beyond me. Especially when I've seen things done by some really lousy students in art classes that's far better than what's hanging up in those hallowed halls. Probably because somebody bribed an art critic to tell you how marvelous and avante-garde that piece of crap is, and make you feel like a complete dummy for not "seeing" it. Feh!

43 Oh look, it's the Democrats selecting their candidate for 2028.
Flaming Giraffe 2028! All ART is the essential expression of the way life could and should be of EVERY CULTURE in EVERY ERA. LIB are is the epitome of depravity and disintegration perfectly reflecting the state of their inner being, whose sole purpose is to Reward the Guilty, Punish the Innocent and Champion the mediocre, the Unworthy the DEPRAVED on the basis of their Depravity. They do (believe and ascribe to) this as an act of naked depraved revenge because Life have Purpose and Meaning, they seek and enact Moral Vandalism as proof and erroneous vindication of the Power of Evil over Good. A World Safe for Socialism is a world where the dead, the Dying, the DISSENTING are carted away in boxcars that rumble night and day to smokestacks that billow without end to heat the bathwaters of their elite who pit Man against other men until we exist no more -- not becaues they themselves are evil -- but because they are SUPREMELY BORED -- and this ART PIECE epitomizes that, daring you to call it the absolute crap that it is -- much like the b'wannabe Damien Thorne-like nepo-LIB art of Hunter Biden... no less! Dali's art, including this one, is 'interesting' in the same way something negative and unreal is interesting. The audience wonders how or why he felt the need to make the painting. His technical skill is subsumed by the bizarre, often repulsive, images. CBD's 'so what' attitude is a perfect and justified reaction.
Most of Dali's art, and many other 20th century 'critically acclaimed paintings, are why so much of the art of the period leaves me cold with the ugly and nihilistic content. Think I'll go look at some Andrew Wyeth or his dad's illustrations for enjoyable 20th century art. Posted by: JTB at May 19, 2026 09:56 AM (yTvNw) 128
Yes! There's more! and this is the reason why. This is the call to arms for all Good Men to do more that Absolutely Nothing in the face of a determined evil which has no justification, nor does it seek any.
Indeed, the only, purpose of artisans like this and those that support them is to perpetuate the moral inversion of the worthless being highly value. ask yourself Why? In any collaboration between good and evil it only evil which benefits. In any conflict between good and evil it is the more consistent who will prevail. The basic subtext behind the LIB strategic insanity and their philosophy is STOP ME IF YOU THINK YOU CAN while they arm themselves with every vile principle imaginable. The world is the way it is not because they aren't free to live that way and let nature (and evolution) take its course to eradicate themselves from future history; no, it is this way because at some fundamental level they understand that they are wrong, and experience FEAR for having abandoned their only means of survival, and GUILT because they know that they have done so willingly. and they plan to TAKE YOU WITH THEM! That the only common ground between good and evil is to put you in it. Posted by: MANFRED the Heat Seeking OBOE at May 19, 2026 09:56 AM (SglpJ) 129

YOUR THOUGHTS? EX POLICE OFFICER CHARGED FROM FATAL ON DUTY SHOOTING. A former Hartford Police CT officer is now facing a first-degree manslaughter charge after the 2026 shooting death of a 55-year-old man armed with a large knife. Investigators say officers spent several minutes trying to talk the man down. Police reportedly gave dozens of commands for him to drop the knife and even attempted to use a taser before it failed. The man began walking toward Officer Magnano who then fired. The Connecticut Office of the Inspector General ruled the shooting was NOT justified. The Hartford Police Union strongly disagrees, saying the officer was facing an armed suspect who refused repeated commands. The suspect was told 62 times to drop the knife. This case is sparking heated debate across the country. The former officer turned himself in and was released on a $50,000 bond. He is expected in court on June 5. The "Southern Strategy" lie is so embedded in the leftist mind they actually believe the South has been "ruled by Republicans for generations."
By "generations" they mean ... since the early 2000s or later. Dem Ann Richards was governor of TX until W in 1995. The TX house didn't flip to Dem until 2003--and even since then to now, the R speaker has won, not by solely caucus votes but by buying Dem votes. yes, "generations" of Republican control all across the South. BTW, 2031 redistricting in the South is going to wipe out the last of the state-level Dems--all of those were under unconstitutional rulings. We'll see super-majority R in nearly every Southern state. Posted by: People's Hippo Voice at May 19, 2026 10:04 AM (73/SM) 153

Inventions of the Monsters
Salvador Dalí Well...okay. It's art. But my overriding though is: "So what?" --- Egad! Would not be on the wall with Dr. Syn (1981). Painted by Salvador Dalí in 1937, Inventions of the Monsters is a haunting surrealist masterpiece. Prophetic in tone, Dalí created the canvas in Austria just before the outbreak of World War II. Today, you can view this renowned artwork in person at the Art Institute of Chicago in Illinois. Symbolic Breakdown: In a telegram to the Art Institute of Chicago in 1943, Dalí provided a direct, symbolic breakdown of the strange entities within the dreamscape: The Flaming Giraffe: Represents a masculine apocalyptic monster. Horse-Women: Act as maternal river monsters. The Cat-Angel: Depicts a divine heterosexual monster. The Hourglass: Represents a metaphysical monster. Dalí and Gala: Stand on the right as the "sentimental monster," alongside a nearly invisible, fading little blue dog. --- Salvador Dalí’s knowledge of war was not based on being a soldier, but rather on direct exposure to political violence and a profound psychological obsession with death and suffering. Dali was full of crap & likely a perv, imho. Posted by: L - No nic, another fine day at May 19, 2026 10:10 AM (NFX2v) 169

You can break rules. You can do all sorts of things. You can abuse labor laws. You can pay people less than what they’re worth. But you can’t earn that.”
It's crazy how she says the most simple truths, and everyone excoriates her for being some kind of radical. The party as a whole needs to lean into messaging that billionaires are trying to make you hate your neighbor so they can steal from you. The true "welfare queens" are the billionaires. They benefit from the systems and infrastructure the most while giving back the least or none at all. Taxing them isn't punishing them, it's just demanding they reinvest their stolen assets back into the economy they keep taking from. We the people need to remind them heavy taxation was the compromise. Really hope she runs for president. In fairness to Dali, he was flooded with commissions. Most of his paintings were completed under a fierce deadline. Under those circumstances, he would churn out technically proficient works that lacked any kind of coherent theme or idea, which he would then claim was the whole idea.
I personally like Dali's drawings, which were usually studies for his larger works but sometimes just drawn for their own sake. He was an excellent draughtsman (and an even better salesman). Posted by: troyriser at May 19, 2026 10:35 AM (DPeYO) 244

It has Anne Hathaway and Emily Blunt who are easy to look at and who I like as actresses so it wasn't too painful, but...This is a GIRLY movie with a capital G. One of the reasons to see this movie, is that it's an almost perfect distillation of the world-view of Our Betters. These fabulous people live fabulous lives with fabulous money because they deserve it. You see, they have dedicated their lives to beauty and art, and have made sacrifices!!!!. Or so, we're told in different ways several times. Speaking of peen:
Genghis Khan and his soldiers attacked a tiny village and took all the villagers prisoners, then decided to play a game. He blindfolded all the women and ordered the men to strip and stand in line. Each woman had to go down the line and attempt to identify her husband by his penis. If she got it wrong, both would be executed. The first woman kept touching the penises until she found her husband's and declared it. Genghis was disappointed. Second woman, same thing. She readily identified her husband's penis. Now Genghis got really pissed. He stripped down and got in line himself. The third woman started. "Not him" , "Not him", Not him either"... This continued until she touched Genghis's penis. She stopped for a while and thought really hard "Not from our village" she muttered and moved on... Posted by: Rodrigo Borgia at May 19, 2026 10:48 AM (IG3/x) 275

Posted by: Boss Moss Andrew Branca has discussed the case quite a bit on his YouTube channel. It's not nearly as clean a case a Rittenhouse, for example, and the guy's got significant risk of being convicted was what I took away from it. Posted by: Moron Analyst at May 19, 2026 10:55 AM (NNDYh) 282

Posted by: Boss Moss ========= You won't get much unless they leak the multiple video takes. There will be a formal bond hearing on reduction of bail coming soon and perhaps a pretrial hearing if that state (TN) uses trial by information instead of a grand jury. Too lazy to look it up. So a lot of wild speculation at this point devoid of actual facts. Posted by: whig at May 19, 2026 10:56 AM (E4rtv) 285

Posted by: Moron Analyst ===== He is also doing it on X but his youtube presentations are better. He is responding and sometimes baiting idiots on X which ups his engagement count coincidentally. It boils down to this--self defense is a justification defense which means that the tables are flipped. You have to meet a statutory burden of proof as a defendant to claim it. When you claim self defense, then you no longer can claim the other dude did it or some other dude did it, you have to be a 'true man', admit you shot (assaulted, etc.) someone which is admitting a crime. Next you have to provide under the totality of circumstances, to a judge and jury, that you were justified in your exercise of force (or implied force) to prevent serious injury or death to you from assailant(s). The laws vary somewhat across states but that is the gist of it. Posted by: whig at May 19, 2026 11:04 AM (E4rtv) Processing 0.04, elapsed 0.0537 seconds. |
