Appeals Court Rules That Trump Doesn't Have to Pay Lunatic Fantasist E. Jean Carroll for the "Defamation" of Continuing to Deny This Vicious Fruitloop's Sex Fantasy About Him
Not only was the original allegation of "rape" insane and ripped off straight from an episode of Law & Order: SVU -- with this lunatic attention-whore unable to even say when the "rape" occurred more specifically than "in the nineties" -- but a subsequent New York jury also decided it was "defamation" when Trump later insisted upon his innocence.
Note that this rule has never been applied to anyone except Donald Trump. Any time a man proclaims his innocence following an adverse court ruling, someone can sue that man for "defamation" for denying his or her story. And note that every instance of a false claim is a fresh defamation case -- so you can just keep suing an innocent man forever, for saying he's innocent. This is government-compelled speech of the worst kind: When a partisan jury wrongly finds you culpable, not only do you have to pay the exorbitant penalty they impose on you for partisan bullshit reasons, but you are then compelled by government action to admit the lie of your guilt, forever, anytime someone asks you about it.An Appeals Court has agreed with Trump that he should not have to pay the insane jackpot $83 million judgment until the Supreme Court rules on this preposterous new Trump-Only Law.

The Second Circuit Court of Appeals this week temporarily blocked an $83 million dollar payment that President Donald Trump owed to E. Jean Carroll in her defamation case while the Supreme Court mulls intervening. The court order granted Trump's request for a stay, provided he increase his bond by nearly $7.5 million. Carroll, in 2019, accused Trump of raping her in a Bergdorf Goodman's dressing room some time in the 1990s. She brought separate legal claims for defamation over his denials while in office and after leaving.
I just want to remind everyone that in addition to once saying on CNN that "rape is sexy," E. Jean Carroll's accusation against Trump is an exact plot line from a 2012 Law & Order SVU episode.

Even in a civil trial, the standard of conviction is still a "preponderance of the evidence". If the only evidence is he said/she said, then the "evidence" is still 50/50, and an honest jury would not return a conviction/finding of guilt.
Of course, the "vicitim" can spin a lurid tale for the jurors, while the accused can only say he wasn't there and it didn't happen.
The only possible way the accused can raise an evidentiary defense is to prove they were somewhere else when the rape occurred.

Throw out the jury verdict as Ace notes, the alleged predicate offense (rape) was NOT proven to be true by the jury, so a he said, she said, would risk any person claiming to be innocent (and thus the other person is lying) to be targeted for a slander and/or a libel suit.

I literally just use AI to do simple things now bc it's easier to use Chat for image composition than Photoshop with the changes. THAT IS CRAZY
AND then Adobe completely fubared the interface for their very nice drawing program I use, Fresco. it's so so bad. Don't do the update!!!

Growing up we had several crows as pets. Our first two, Heckle and Jeckle, lasted a couple of years, but neighbors complained about the constant noise so we freed them. They continued to hang around for about a year as we continued to put out food for them. Eventually, we would only see once or twice a month and then no more.
The last pet we had was with us for 10 years. We had him in a large cage outside (big enough to stand up in) and in the winter, a huge cage in our basement. Super smart and very devious pet. He loved to terrorize our dog. He had a large vocabulary and had full sentences in his repertoire.
He ate our dinner leftovers and loved hard boiled eggs. He would eat the shells to help with digestion.
He would also call in wild crows to the point where they'd hang out on top of his cage during dinner time, hoping for handouts.
He ended up getting killed by a mink in early spring after moving from the basement to outside.
His name was Clarence and a special childhood memory

Adobe suite has very recently made TERRIBLE changes
I literally just use AI to do simple things now bc it's easier to use Chat for image composition than Photoshop with the changes. THAT IS CRAZY
AND then Adobe completely fubared the interface for their very nice drawing program I use, Fresco. it's so so bad. Don't do the update!!!

Possibly willowed and not critical, but the "50th mission" part (apart from what you've found as his "first mission") I don't think applies to B-29 crews. I should know but don't remember. Think it was fewer than 50.
I know my sister's late FIL did 50 B-26 missions in the ETO. I have his flight logbook in which he kept diary notes and details on each mission. Fifty total. Pretty sure he kept the book in his personal stuff in his quarters, though I think it was still against the rules to keep even summary records like that.

You are correct. I just scanned it. It appears that his petition rests heavily on presidential immunity possibly from the fear that a broader based challenge would be treated as standard claims already rejected by lower federal courts.
The limits of presidential immunity, however, have not been considered much by lower federal courts nor state court systems. They simply rejected them.

Execution by the Japanese was actually not the worst fate for downed pilots. Don't even want to type what some were subjected to (before death). Forget the survival rate of Allied POWs in Japanese captivity, but it was the worst in WWII, pretty much matching that of Soviet POWs in German hands.

Governor McMaster is calling a special session to redistrict in South Carolina.
I think the legislation to redistrict in a special session called by the governor would only need bare majorities to pass (the thing voted on yesterday was about adding it to the existing session which required super majorities).

Found that out yesterday from reading the laws of SC. So the stupid senators outed themselves as anti trump for nothing. The vote was 29-17 in favor of redistricting in the Senate but required the full supermajority to do it.
McMasters decided to make lemonade out of lemons where he had no real choice anyway. Probably to get a chit on future POTUS actions.

Am hoping to do a little multimedia thing about my sister's late FIL's missions in Europe. I've actually found a few of his specific targets (mostly bridges that are still there).
Washington Nearsider is a great resource for WWII records etc. I haven't yet done much on my project, but imagine I'll be consulting him again when I do.
BTW, for those who visted the Smithsonian Air & Space museum (original one, on the Mall) over the last 30+ years, the forward B-26 fuselage section displayed in the WWII room, from "Flak Bait", was his plane. Three pilots flew her, as I recall. He was the first and did all 50 missions in that plane. Kind of interesting.
Not sure if it's still on display, haven't been to that museum in decades.

Army records had a disastrous fire in St. Louis in the late 60's that destroyed the bulk of older service records. No such problem with Navy/Marines but Army and Air Force were affected severely on records.
Folks that relied on those records for retirement, especially reservists on points, had to recreate their service records by using microfiche etc. I helped one vet do that as I was familiar with microfiche from grad research at the time plus military orders.

I was going to build a container system rather than dual booting which I currently do. But that plan went under with the current elevated costs for building a specced out computer. Been building them since the 90's about every 3-5 years or so.
I rarely use the Windows partition but keep it for my wife who uses Windows and Microsoft Office at work. I use it for taxes only.
But using a linux docker (or other) container system would allow me to decommission some really old computers that I keep simply for Stata, SPSS, some qualititative stat software, graphing software, and Mathcad for projects.
Current expenses for them are way too high as I no longer qualify for faculty/student discounts. Was learning R for projects but as I retired, no real reason to relearn the wheel if I want to do a quick and dirty stat analysis of some data.

My guess is legally they have to let you delete your account but like Fakebook, they simply put it in deep storage to be reactivated if you stumble or run across their tracking icons buried on websites. Stinked In along with other social media is all about tracking you so data can be sold about you to everyone.
I have a paid service that does nothing other than kill data on me via databroker acquisitions. And the number of databrokers is proliferating so much that every couple of days, there are new whack a mole databrokers that need to be thwacked with removal requests.
Upside, I rarely get any spam calls nowadays. Getting ready to go medieval on spam email by moving mission critical emails to another service and nuking the one I have used for decades now.

My guess is legally they have to let you delete your account but like Fakebook, they simply put it in deep storage to be reactivated if you stumble or run across their tracking icons buried on websites. Stinked In along with other social media is all about tracking you so data can be sold about you to everyone.
I have a paid service that does nothing other than kill data on me via databroker acquisitions. And the number of databrokers is proliferating so much that every couple of days, there are new whack a mole databrokers that need to be thwacked with removal requests.
Upside, I rarely get any spam calls nowadays. Getting ready to go medieval on spam email by moving mission critical emails to another service and nuking the one I have used for decades now.
