Tuesday Overnight Open Thread - May 12, 2026 [Doof]

From Amazing Nature

Greetings Hordelings! The Tuesday ONT is here, and so are you. Open thread, as always. Come on in!

Tuesday night humor

While golfing, a guy accidentally overturns his golf cart in a tremendous crash.

A very attractive female golfer, who lives in a townhome overlooking the golf course, hears the crash and calls out, "Are you okay?"

"I'm okay, thanks," says the guy, as he pulls himself from the twisted golf cart wreck.

She says, "Come up to my home, you can recover for a bit, and I'll help you with the golf cart up later."

Even being a bit dizzy, the guy couldn’t help but notice that her bathrobe was partially open, revealing what appeared to be an amazing figure.

"That's mighty nice of you," he answers, "but I really don't think my wife would approve"

"Oh, come on now." she insists.

She was so pretty, so very persuasive, and the guy was so relatively dazed!

"Well okay, but I'm quite sure my wife won't be happy with me"

After a couple of gin and tonics, he thanks her and says, "I feel a lot better, and know that my wife is going to be really upset, so I'd best leave now."

"Don't be silly!" she said with a coquettish smile, letting her robe fall even slightly more open. "Stay for a while. She won't know a thing, we can have another drink” then she asks, by the way, “where is she, anyway?"

The guy replies, "Probably still under the cart, if I were to bet"

96 Dishwashers are amazing. You can go from doing dishes, to cleaning gun and car parts, to making boiled dinner in it.

The "energy saver" function most modern dishwashers have makes it difficult to do all three in one day though... really long cycles.

97 JET COVER-UP China KNEW pilot deliberately crashed Boeing 737 into mountain at 350mph killing 132 for four years, US probe reveals
https://t.co/i4M3Fq9VhP
China Eastern Airlines Flight 5735 smashed into a mountain at 350mph in Guangxi after the captain intentionally brought down the aircraft, newly surfaced data reveals.
Chinese authorities have known for four years that a pilot deliberately crashed, US authorities claim...took place after one of the three airmen on board shut down both engines & turned off auto-pilot...
Suppressive Chinese authorities claimed last year that releasing information related to the disaster could “endanger national security & social stability”.
...Intentionally crashing has proved to be one of the leading causes of plane disasters in recent years, reports say. It was the second most common cause of plane deaths from 2011 to 2020, Bloomberg reported.

116 Ring-necked Pheasants are non-native, or invasive, if you will. First brought from Asia around 1880 for hunting. They are very successful and are the State Bird of South Dakota. The place I saw the most pheasants at once was Riverdale in the Bronx in several parks with a lot of underbrush leading down to the Hudson. I'd walk a neighbors dog and she would flush out sometimes 8 or 9 per walk. They would skitter through the brush until the doggie got close.

We released about 20 of them in a couple hundred acre park with a swamp, lake, grasslands. It became a thriving community.
There are many feral tribes of these birds all over the US, most escapes, though many from other nuts like my friend John. They are a striking looking bird.

Lived in a couple places in Florida, one Gulf side one Atlantic. During rainy season pop up thunder storms have about 50% coverage. Raining like hell here. Drive a couple of miles, nothing, so on and so on. Totally random other than it will rain somewhere.
In Hawaii, it will rain the same place same time every day... or seem like it never rains. Except when a weather front comes through.
Posted by: Itinerant Alley Butcher

The MN thing is always an interaction between air cycling up from the Gulf of America (warm, wet) and air blowing down from Canada (cold, dry). If the humidity and temperature difference is enough, the cold air can't hold the water, and whoosh! If not, it's partly cloudy today.

1 - 2 with an RBI triple
3 walks

2 runs scored
2 rbis

Because they believe socialism gives power to intellectuals.

And this is the easiest game. Take leftwing critiques of others and apply it back to them. It will usually explain their own real values and ideas.

They drive on it! Park on it! All the time!

They have 2 dogs and 2 rambunctious boys that play on it daily! Heck, the kids even have little 4-wheelers that they drive around on it!

And they've only had to mow about every other, or every third week.

Other than that the world seems pretty blah. Feels like Trump is waiting to talk to Xi about the oil not getting to China. Damn shame that. If someone wanted to, they could effectively cut off Chinese oil and cripple them.

I don't think there's much middle ground, either Trump got us stuck in the Gulf or he's playing with his food, rag dolling them. I can't be certain, but I'm leaning towards the latter. I think he's trying to throw some doubt into the CCP.

You should ask the Dr. what difference it might make for him. I have a node (non-cancerous) on my thyroid, and the only problems I have with it are:

--The fact that it feels like I have a popcorn husk or something, stuck way down on the back of my tongue and it sometimes triggers gag reflex.

--I can't tolerate temperature extremes, particularly *heat* now.

--Metabolism seems to go up and down dramatically within hours or days.

Will stay with the tour as far as Kingman, AZ, and then head south to Apache Junction, and spend a few days at my place there, and do some repairs to the roof. Need to replace about 2 sheets of plywood roof deck that got waterlogged and delaminated. I have shingles and tar paper on hand there. And tools. It's a low-pitched roof; not too scary. Aim to be on the road home around month end.

438 High temp was 92 today-- way too early for that crap, IMO-- but it got cloudy in late afternoon, so was able to clean up all the mess I made yesterday. Mainly grass clippings, LOL.

I still need to plant a bunch of annuals! Petunias mostly, and a few other goodies for hanging basket and large planters on the deck... just keep running out of daylight, but hope to get to them tomorrow while it's supposed to be cooler and a little rain.

442 Berserker,

Hubby and I are old. He's 80 and I'm not far behind, lol.

We have a lawn service and they keep the yard neat and tidy.

The asshole neighbor has lots of "suggestions " for our yard.

Fuck him and the horse he rode in on, lmao.

Posted by: four seasons at May 13, 2026 12:50 AM (3ek7K)

My neighbors are decently spread out, but we all have the same semi shitty lawns, so nobody complains. The soil is a little sandy. The guy across the street from me did a new septic system. By the time he was done his yard was totally dirt, with all new top soil, new seed, covered in hay. New stuff grew, and a year later it looks like shit, like the rest of us. None of the lawns are actually bad, but they aren't putting green. Most have multiple shades of green.

445 Braenyard, I have "irrigation water" for outside. Untreated, unfiltered (don't drink out of the hose, ewww) and pay fixed rate based on lot size, whether I use it or not. It stinks of algae and dead fish.

Of course, they can restrict it during shortages-- usually by limiting the hours of the day/days of the week for allowed usage. 1st offense is a warning, 2nd offense they shut it off for the remainder of season. (May thru mid-October)

Okay, lol.

We've always had dogs. We had Great Danes, half sisters. They were so wonderful.

We were on a regular pickup for a charity organization.

One morning on the day for the pickup the Danes had huge shit accidents in the house.

Hubby said for me to go to the USO where I volunteered and he would clean up the dog mess.

Well he put the black trash bags with the dog shit outside where the charity always picked the bags with the donations.

He forgot the bags of stuff we were donating. Needless to say the driver for the charity was pissed later when Great Dane shit permeated his truck, lol.

We lived in a suburb of Chicago several years ago. We had a lot of landscaping done around the half circle driveway. Lots of pavers etc.

I hired a guy to do the snow removal. I had no idea he was a drunk.

One early morning hubby woke me up and said all the pavers and landscaping was out in the street. He had to catch the train into Chicago.

Lots of luck finding the drunk guy, lol.

It was freezing but I got enough off the street so the neighbors could get by.

Memories, lol.

In actuality, Jensen is currently on Air Force One and, unless I ask him to leave, which is highly unlikely, CNBC's reporting is incorrect or, as they say in politics, FAKE NEWS! It is an Honor to have Jensen, Elon, Tim Apple, Larry Fink, Stephen Schwarzmann, Kelly Ortberg (Boeing), Brian Sikes (Cargill), Jane Fraser (Citi), Larry Culp (GE Aerospace), David Solomon (Goldman Sachs), Sanjay Mehrotra (Micron), Cristiano Amon (Qualcomm), and many others journeying to the Great Country of China where I will be asking President Xi, a Leader of extraordinary distinction, to "open up" China so that these brilliant people can work their magic, and help bring the People's Republic to an even higher level!

In fact, I promise, that when we are together, which will be in a matter of hours, I will make that my very first request. I have never seen or heard of any idea that would be more beneficial to our incredible Countries! President DONALD J. TRUMP

Not sure how that will work out for her... none of the approved facilities are nearby. And total payout will only last maybe 3 or 4 years at current average rates.

Well, I hope it works out ok for her. She's been paying in for 30 years.

It's too late for me & hubby to buy any kind of policy.

515 Not paying in for 30 years, duh... she got the policy 20 years ago.

Having been run over by a golf cart once, that joke wasn't all that funny.
Well. Okay. It was. But getting run over was no fun. He'll alcohol wasn't even involved...yet.

IIRC, Gavin Newsom's wife Jennifer killed her big sister by running her over with a golf cart. But she was a child (6 years old and her sister was and it was ruled an accident, so now she's sympathetic to all the unlucky killers in prison who didn't get away with it like she did. (I wish I was joking.)

I'd like to ask if you do not mind. I was interested
to know how you center yourself and clear your mind
prior to writing. I have had a difficult time clearing my thoughts in getting
my thoughts out. I truly do enjoy writing but it just seems like the
first 10 to 15 minutes tend to be wasted simply
just trying to figure out how to begin. Any suggestions or hints?
Thank you!
