It’s over for digital animation. This is too good. Guilds and unions will try to void it in Hollywood but it’s over, amazing full length films will be made by amateurs in weeks.

They’ll need a distribution platform. Can anybody set a video to be a rental on YouTube?

The quality of animation you can create on your own is truly amazing. We really are just limited by our imaginations at this point. Go tell your story!

11 >>>If AI writes your code, why use Python? (Medium)

This just seems ... scary?

The future of programming won’t be languages easiest for humans. It’ll be languages easiest for agents. We just shipped a Mac app where our engineers didn’t know a single line of Rust (or Tauri) beforehand. Result: ~1/10th the size… highly performant. Agents are the new programmers.

A shipped app, in a language nobody on the team knew, one-tenth the size of the Electron version, faster at runtime. The humans never had to learn Rust to get there.

The next project you start doesn’t have to default to Python.

14 Thanks very much, Pixy, for the musical selection. I had never heard of that group, Sabaton, because I'm an old person. 😉Perhaps some other old people have heard of them , but I have never been a heavy metal person.

I knew something was going to be different when it started out with church bells. I had to look up the lyrics because I couldn't understand them. Very powerful , inspirational message.

15 And I just learned of this story behind, "I have decided to follow Jesus", an old time hymn we sing in church. I found it very powerful:

16 Your posts about programming remind me about why I did not start programming way back when. And it looks as if not much has improved. I will use what suits my needs and disregard the rest.

18 And I wanted to tell the story of a very nice encounter at the local CVS which opens at 7:00 a.m. I had to get a pill spliter and some other things. Nobody seemed to be around but some folks who were waiting to work at the pharmacy, I think. Then a lady emerged from the back and helped me find a pill splitter When tried to get Advil PM and the other items at the self checkout it said said "age restricted" I told the woman , "I put in my birthdate, but I did something wrong. I can assure you that I am over 18 by quite a bit." She said " Me too" and then helped me at a real register. She was very kind and I appreciated that.

People talk, listen, watch, think, and collaborate at the same time, in real time. We've designed an AI that works with people the same way.

We share our approach, early results, and a quick look at our model in action.

24 Morning, one and all. It's a nice morning so far here in California East.

Yesterday, I had a chat with my mom. She's been getting frustrated as hell at dealing with the VA, USAA and several financial companies in getting the POA acknowledged. USAA wants a selfie for their records, the VA keeps asking for more documentation and the site ID Me is not working for her and she can't stay on the phone long enough to deal with this because she still has to keep an eye on dad.

I finally asked if she could get a helper from their community to watch dad so she could handle all of this without distraction. "Yes, but it costs money."

"Isn't this covered under your contract?"

There was an annoyed pause and she said it was so she has to get a lawyer friend to have a chat with the people running the place.

TL/DR; Getting old sucks.

26 Please pray for JTB's wife . There was a note on an earlier thread that she had to go to the emergency room. She was having tingling and high blood pressure. I don't think they figured out what was going on but she was released, I believe. Thanks.

27 Evening and morning, folken,

The week has begun with a disturbance in the Farce. My Braun coffeemaker has failed. It gets power, but simply does not brew. I think it failed yesterday morning; I'd brewed my usual five cups, drunk two, and went to work out. When I poured a new cup about an hour later, the machine was off and the coffee was cold. I thought I'd forgotten to hit the "Auto Off" button, which keeps the stuff warm for up to four hours. Guess not.

Nobody repairs these small appliances any more, and the machine is well out of warranty. So I guess I'm going shopping this morning. I've had a few swallows of coffee to keep me going, though.

So howz yer day so far?

28 Nobody repairs these small appliances any more, and the machine is well out of warranty.

That's more than a little annoying to me. There is a market for this but most small appliances are built with a short lifespan in mind.

I certainly can't find anybody near me with a 'Net search. My first Braun machine, a fairly simple one, I bought in late 1986; it performed without issue until '99. There was a tech shop in Denver which repaired its leak, and it went back into service until about '02 or '03. No shops here in Da Swamp, so I've had a succession of machines, each lasting about four years, since.

I want one with the brew pause, so you can pour a cup during the brewing, and with a keep-warm feature. Target has one for about $80. (Grrrr.)

I'm sure there are, but I don't want to wait for delivery. Maybe I'll have a look at Walmart's offerings and see if they have a Mr. Coffee that will do the things I want.

I've got a Keuring K-Cup maker here that isn't being used.
Dad drank coffee, but I don't.
So I got him the maker after Mom died because he said he didn't need a full pot without her drinking out of it and he just wanted to use K-Cups.

The thing was only used a few months before he quit drinking coffee totally and now it's just sitting there (along with almost an entire case of McDonald's brand Decaf K-Cups) and hasn't been turned on in a year or more.

I've tried giving it away to people who drink coffee but nobody can be bothered to take a free, barely-used, coffee maker with extra water filters and a cleaning kit.
