Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | Tennessee Passes New Gerrymandered Map Which Will, Hopefully, Eliminate the Last Democrat-Held Congressional SeatAnd that seat is held by hyperpartisan asshole Steve Cohen and oh boy, will I be glad to see the back of him. Below, the map has redrawn the map so that parts of Democrat-stronghold Memphis will be included with big swathes of red country voters, hopefully flipping it to Republicans. It's a dirty gerrymander but Democrats have long been playing this game dirty as hell for decades. As people keep pointing out, New England, as a whole, is 40% Republican -- but Republicans have no seats in any NE state, because they've all been gerrymandered so that Democrats outnumber them in each and every bizarrely-crafted district.![]() Tennessee Republicans have put forward a new congressional map that could secure all nine of the state's congressional districts for the GOP by eliminating a Democrat-represented district that was gerrymandered in order to create a black voting majority. Governor Bill Lee (R) had called the state legislature into a special session on Friday in to consider redistricting following a Supreme Court ruling against racial gerrymandering. DETAIL: The proposed map divides the majority-black district in Shelby County, potentially displacing Representative Steve Cohen, and also alters Maury County to favor Republican incumbent Rep. Andy Ogles.Democrats handled the political setback as they always do, with disorder, intimidation, and threat of violence:
Benny Johnson#Accurate. The only difference is that the cops didn't begin executing "protesters" here. Oh well, maybe next time. We need Republicans to be ruthless.
Democrats have pulled this Gerrymandering crap for 80+ years. It's why they absolutely controlled the congress for the first half of my life. Republicans were always too principled to do it back. Because they were stupid. You don't stop wrongdoers by telling them it's wrong. You stop them by enforcing consequences. But our "elite" are extremely stupid people. They could have large effects. They could have minimal effects. They could have effects in reverse of what we expect. But the biggest thing is that the 2020 census led to an overall draw of maps that made swing districts really rare. This mid-decade will be expanding that group of safe seats, but it's of course just the question of who does the most. On balance...I end up just ceding to conventional wisdom of how midterms work because I really don't know how these extras will affect things. So a couple of thoughts on right leaning gerrymandering...
Ideally we'd stop gerrymandering over all but there is no way to honestly do so. Human beings will decide how to divide up the map and they will do so on the basis of their own observed self interest which here will follow their political orientation. This has become a bigger issue because of just how far the left has gotten we aren't debating slight changes to tax rates any more. And in turn Democrats have gotten extreme because they've become to rely more and more on fake votes - the dead, illegals, and people submitting ballots on behalf of people that aren't going to vote. Now the one caveat in all this is what the Dems do with their urban fraud machines. When they are already +30 in a district they are somewhat limited in what they will do at the House race level because it doesn't matter. But if Memphis produces 4X as many ballots as registered voters to win these new districts are state officials ready to deal with it? Posted by: 18-1 at May 07, 2026 04:48 PM (sKqQm) 95
As of last week, the Appeals Court shot down Memphis' injunction to kick out the NG and return the city to control by its gang-run government. Too bad, so sad, Memphis """Police""" Department! Now this. All that's left now is for the Statehouse to revoke that fucking city's charter, disincorporate and send their thug government packing, to be replaced at a later date, once it's cleaned up. Pull the trigger. That portal to Hell is a national embarrassment. High time the adults stepped in and restored order once and for all. Confound the next libtard you meet by pronouncing it 'gary-mander'. The original pronunciation. Named after Elbridge Gerry, a Founding Father and fifth Vice President of the United States.
Also ask them where the '-mander part comes from. It's from salamander. A political opponent said a Boston-area state senate district drawn by Gerry resembled a mythological salamander. Helping spread and sustain the term, a political cartoon depicted a strange animal with claws, wings, and a dragon-like head that supposedly resembled the oddly shaped district. Of course, these little wins mean nothing if voter turnout remains lethargic in off-year primaries and elections.
What the data shows in the special elections is Rs showing up to vote at normal rates and Ds showing up at off year election rates. The argument the FNM makes is D voters are more animated, which doesn't actually seem right based on my circle, but it could, and likely IS, a reflection that when you have a small number of fixers submitting ballots it is as easy to get them to do so for a special election as any other Posted by: 18-1 at May 07, 2026 04:50 PM (sKqQm) 103

By having extra people on the voter rolls (dead, moved, fake, etc.) they can hide fake ballots being added on Election Day.
If, say, the legitimate number of registered voters is X, but there’s an additional 100k registered ghost voters, then it’s not as obvious when they dump 15k extra ballots into the mix ( or find them the day after election) because the sum total of votes cast won’t come close to exceeding total registered voters. As each type of ghost registrant is removed from the rolls, the harder it is to statistically hide ballot dumps. They must have the most inflated voter rolls possible so that 82 million votes for Biden can be argued legitimate. Posted by: Lizzy at May 07, 2026 05:16 PM (4KUe5) 191
