Evening and morning, Sunday toilers and early risers! It's the first Sunday of May, and we have an unheard-of 60 F. w/ 66% humidity and almost no wind. This is more like February in Da Swamp. Amazin'.
Also, last night I found out what has been fascinating Stirling recently. He's been hanging around my bedroom, near the nightstand, and I figured there's a gecko or a roach or something that's gotten in. Well. I moved the litter box in the process of scooping it out . . . and there was a dark gray mouse! It got past Stirling -- I don't think Dagny has noticed it -- and under my bathroom door. So now it's loose in the apartment (which it probably has been all along). I hope Stirling catches it soon, and does NOT leave the corpse in one of my slippers. https://tinyurl.com/2tfrjsmr Posted by: FenelonSpoke at May 03, 2026 05:23 AM (2sfNr) I remember last summer taking a bus across the tallest bridge in this city (the Aurora Bridge, 167 ft above the water), traffic was slow, and I saw a guy sitting on the fence with some emergency responders talking to him. A while later I was taking the bus home, and was just in time to see him coming down and just sit on the ground with his back to the fence near one of the responders. To this day, I still remember the look on his face as he sat there - this odd combination of utterly deflated yet at peace. (I'm sure most of that was probably the adrenaline wearing off, but still...) I was so glad that I got to see that he'd chosen life. Posted by: Bitblt at May 03, 2026 06:51 AM (11pZm) 46

Morning, 'rons and 'ronettes. 46 cloudy degrees here at Stately Poppins Manor. It's supposed to get near 60 today, but one really never knows.
I mentioned yesterday that I had had a lovely dream, waltzing with two beautiful women during a filming of the Tintin story King Ottakar's Sceptre. Well, I had another fascinating one last night - a Disney / Pixar movie that takes place in an alternate world where everyone is dead, but they know it (and are shades of green in color) and live as if they were still in the world of the living. It turns out that one girl, touched by a man, turns to flesh, meaning she isn't really dead, but ended up in Deadland by mistake. So she, the man who touched her, his sidekick and three gorgeous dead girls go on a journey to return her to the living world. They have many comic and chilling adventures, but eventually the sidekick falls in love with one of the trio of girls. She wants to love him back, but it turns out that she has to stay with the other two girls, because any of the three who leave will instantly age to a thousand years. (cont) Posted by: Mary Poppins' Practically Perfect Piercing (aka Eloquent Depression) at May 03, 2026 07:51 AM (qRla/) 83
So the three go back to Deadland and the other three carry on. At the end of the movie, the first girl has been returned to the land of the living. The sidekick goes searching for the dead girl he loves, only to find out that she, sad because of her lost love, ran away from her two friends and has, as promised, aged to a thousand years.
She's old, wrinkled and about to decay to dust when the sidekick finds her, declares his love and kisses her. But instead of bringing her youth back, he ages a thousand years and they both crumble to dust. Happy ending, though - it turns out that the 'thousand years' aging was the two of them living together as husband and wife and their love for each other was so strong that rules are broken and the two are reborn as young, happy - though dead - true loves. Quite a dream, if I do say so myself. Posted by: Mary Poppins' Practically Perfect Piercing (aka Eloquent Depression) at May 03, 2026 07:55 AM (qRla/) 84
