So I downloaded Calibre. Took a couple of minutes to figure out how to open the file to read, but it appears to work.

I slept less than I planned last night and woke up early. That's okay in the long run, as I should stop at the Walmart here on my way out of town for a couple of items. It's not raining -- though strong T-storms are expected here by tonight. By tonight, however, I will be a ways south and east of here. My hope is that I'll be traveling in the wake of this particular round of storms, and will get back to Da Swamp without hitting anything heavy.

Anyway: a little coffee and a light breakfast, and then I'll hit the shower and finish packing.

We are inside the ballroom of the Hilton. One Service agent told me the shooter is confirmed dead. Agents swarmed the room within minutes of shots being heard, running down the main aisle. But because Cabinet officials are seated throughout the room, many of them remained on the floor, crouched under tables as the president was evacuated from stage.
