Evening and morning to all the far-flung AoSHQ satellites!
I slept less than I planned last night and woke up early. That's okay in the long run, as I should stop at the Walmart here on my way out of town for a couple of items. It's not raining -- though strong T-storms are expected here by tonight. By tonight, however, I will be a ways south and east of here. My hope is that I'll be traveling in the wake of this particular round of storms, and will get back to Da Swamp without hitting anything heavy. Anyway: a little coffee and a light breakfast, and then I'll hit the shower and finish packing. Posted by: Wolfus Aurelius, Dreaming of Elsewhere at April 26, 2026 06:22 AM (+2QQb) 48

Because with the left and the internet, it’s never about the age, it’s about the ID.
These socialist governments from around the world want to be able to identify everybody who turns on a computer, where you go online, and, most importantly, what you say online. There could be great reasons for this; going after criminals, terrorists, and child pornographers, for instance. It never stops there and will be abused immediately to go after haters, racists, and anybody who makes a politician/government look bad. The tell is that they have all started out by age-restricting social media, moved on to porn, and now they want you to be identified as soon as you buy an internet capable device via the OS. This is nothing but another control scheme masquerading as ‘It’s for the children”. Posted by: SpeakingOf at April 26, 2026 07:20 AM (6ydKt) 92

Well, that's the whole video. Trump seems very composed, joking and complimenting the woman who organized the dinner (she was sitting in the front row of the press room) and he says his speech was going to be a real humdinger and maybe he will save it and give it at the to-be-rescheduled dinner, or maybe not (he then said) because now he has to "be nicer".

Now that I read through the thread I see a lot of complaints about security. I have no opinion, but the people in charge, Trump especially, seem to think security did its job well. I can understand people like Greta complaining the shooter should have not had access to the building at all, but (to me) that seems impractical. It's a huge hotel; are law enforcement supposed to close down access to it to all its guests? Where should the outer ring of security be, a block away?.
Trump said the shooter never got anywhere near the room, and he said security stopped him very quickly. He has already watched a lot of video, he says, and he himself thought Secret Service did a "great job". Very complimentary. The war up thru 1942 was not going well, the US government was taking no chances. Rationing of every consumer product, no civilian manufacturing whatsoever to any degree. You had to turn in your empty toothpaste tube to purchase a new tube.
There’s no way the government would have expended the considerable effort and expense and scarce materials to make the relocation of 100,000 Japanese if they weren’t legitimately concerned of at least a potential security threat. They didn’t allow the borders wide open and millions of unknowns to invade and draw “assistance” or whatever either. The government took security seriously and politically would have lost their jobs if anything had occurred. > That is his one political donation - Act Blue 2024 $25 to Kamala's campaign.
--------- The thing about ActBlue? That's not one, singular $25 donation. No, ActBlue charges your credit card $25 dollars every week until you plead with them to stop. I read about a couple of people who could never figure out why their unused cards were racking up these small charges every week when they weren't using them. It was ActBlue's automated "donation" system at work. Posted by: Martini Farmer at April 26, 2026 08:58 AM (jehhT) 218

Trump wants us to know that there was a tremendous amount of love in that room in the aftermath of the assassination attempt.
From what people were saying on X, many of the reporters in the actual room had a come-to-Jesus moment about left-wing violence once it was their ass on the line. We'll see how much effect that actually has though. Posted by: Ian S. at April 26, 2026 08:20 AM (Q5A79) Vile worms, the lot. Don't trust them. On a similar note, a NW journalist, Brandi Kruse, had a similar moment when, upon antifa smashing a police car and grabbing a patrol rifle, one of her veteran security guys went up to the dweeb, commie, revolutionary larper and snatched the rifle right out of his limp-wristed hands, whereupon her womb dropped. But she is completely red-pilled now and the psychological conversion from TDS seems genuine. It will be interesting to watch this lot. Posted by: Ordinary American at April 26, 2026 09:10 AM (fZiTB) ================ I asked Grok, who responded: --------- The White House Correspondents' Association (WHCA) hired Oz Pearlman, known as "Oz the Mentalist," as the headline entertainer for their 2026 annual dinner (held on April 25, 2026). This was a deliberate break from the long tradition of featuring a stand-up comedian as host. Pearlman is an Emmy-winning mentalist famous for mind-reading tricks (like guessing PIN codes on TV/podcasts) and appearances on America's Got Talent. The WHCA chose him to keep the focus on "wonder and amazement" rather than political roasts, especially amid tensions and with President Trump attending (his first time as president).
