10 One of the feral cats at the jobsite was named Crackwhore.

She was never deprived of dry food or wet food, but what she wanted was treats.

And she got them from everybody. But she was smart, and never got chewed up in the machinery like her littermates.

11 When I die, I wanna come back as one of my dogs. Then I can chillax all day, get snacks and people food treats, and get tummy rubs on demand. I just don’t want to have breath like Tha’ lil nuggs.

12 I doubt that I could count the number of goofy nicknames we have for our dog, Luna. Most frequent is Luna Tuna or LTM (for Luna Tuna Moona). We often call her variations on Your _____ness depending on her particular behavior: Your Sniffiness, Your Whinyness, Your Zoomieness.

13 Good afternoon all,

Update on our kitty clan.

https://tinyurl.com/dg65258

There is a beautiful cat at our county shelter that they suspect has broken hind legs. I hoped our local cat rescue could get it out of the shelter, but they are currently full with 71 cats and kittens. I'm so sad for that cat and can only hope someone local will step up and adopt.

15 Afternoon, Pet Folken!

I will say that my nicknames for my cats are -- by human standards -- not that demeaning. Stirling is known as "The Duke of Vicksburg." Dagny, well, okay, she's Stubby Tail, but she's also the Princess. Chekov . . .

Actually, now that I think about it . . . I have been guilty of too-precious nicknames. Pretend I didn't say anything.

17 The Pampered Princess Jasmine is sitting my lap right now.

Rumble-kitty Penny is sitting on top of my computer tower.

Kaylee the Calico Kitty Cat (the cutest little cat of them all), aka "Whisper Kitty" and "Kaylee Monster" is lurking in my sunroom.

Now he only eats if we put the plate right next to a human sitting in the room.

20 Piper, Wasabi Ruckus (and I can just imagine how that name came to be) is very handsome. Age 6 is approximately 30 in human terms. (Yes, I know it's not linear. A cat reaches adolescence, about age 12, in the first year, and then it slows down. But if they live to be about 15, and we live to be about 75, it's a 1-5 ratio overall.)

Theoretically, then, he should be less kittenish and more mature now. Theoretically.

Have not encountered. Could be anxiety, wanting a lookout watching for tigers while his head is down? Not sure what could cause it, I suppose if he experienced a loss...

32 "The world’s first “slotharium”, Sloth World Orlando, was slapped with a stop-work order Thursday after a probe alarmingly found 31 sloths had died in the care of the Florida company prior to its grand opening last month."

This pretty much speaks for itself. I don't think Sloth World is meant to be.

34 Eromeros have two cats which have lives chronicled on this bleg. MadisonTheCat, a black beauty who was rescued with broken back legs from a busy intersection on July 4th of 18 was named after James Madison at the bleg's suggestion. She is wise and in charge despite a grass addiction.
Mineola from Mineola was named Mineola and forced to wear checked overalls, and followed by the bleg from tiny kittenhood. Came to us in summer 0f 23, she currently answers to Minnifer and is one smart kitty who hates closed doors.

37 There is a long history of silly nicknames for people in my family. I had a great uncle Kink, a great uncle Minnie, and nobody ever called my Dad by his given name, unless they were an insurance agent calling to sell us something. My sister was Squeak, I was Lil Bear, and my poor brother was the Coyote Kid.

No idea why, but there it is.

One of our dogs was named Mukluk. Of course, we just called him Muck, which I think disturbed some people.

38 Yay yay pet thread. The furriest thread of the week.

When the kids who found our Malinois loose on the highway first brought her by our place, looking for anyone who might have owned her, they were calling her Little Dog as compared to their own two dogs, also Miz Wiggles, because her tail wags her whole body (and still does). After she adopted us, we started out calling her Honey, for her fur color, but since everydoggie gets called Honey, that got abandoned in favor of Daisy. No idea where the name came from. But she is Daisy.🐕

And sometimes Dipsy Daisy Doodly Doo Dah Doggie Day, if we have time.

Are there other Malinois besides Belgium?

🐧
BluebirdOfBitterness.com has two posts for Caturday. One is a video of trained cats (amazing - can your cats do any of this?), the other is comics for Happy World Penguin Day, which is apparently a thing, as some Cafe commenters would squee about.

40 When Stirling misbehaves, which is often, I don't call his actual name. Usually it's "Dammit" or "StopThatYouOvergrownBeast." "Thug" for short.

With Dagny, it's "Darnit" or "You Damn Kitten."

44 Linda just sent me a pic of some Delectables treats labeled as "For Stirling." I asked whether Dagny likes them too. She used to be a little picky about her food in her first year with me, but has turned into an enthusiastic eater and lover of treats since.

Posted by: Wolfus Aurelius, Dreaming of Elsewhere at April 25, 2026 04:47 PM (+2QQb)

45 Could be on the anxiety. Its like when dogs poop, they usually look at you to make sure you are there, keeping watch while they are vulnerable.

Food anxiety that late is odd. Did something else in the environment change?
