Oh of course -- Newsom talked about housing. Democrats, infamously, consider it to be real progress if you talk endlessly about a claimed problem and never make a single step towards improving the situation.

A B. Homelessness has not only exploded under Newsom, but the homeless are dying by the dozens because Newsom allows them to openly shoot up heroin and fentanyl on the streets and carve out Homeless Drug-Addict Enclaves in formerly-thriving neighborhoods.

But a "B." She's a tough grader, you know. If she catches you passing notes in class, she'll dump a boiling pot of mashed potatoes on your head.

And Katie Porter was in fact a "tough grader" compared to the other Democrats, who all gave him B's -- or A's.

I saw this first hand. You can bring these guys to shelters or even paid hotel rooms. They will leave within 12 hours and not come back. A significant portion of people in "homeless shelters" aren't truly "homeless" -- they are freeloaders who could be in their own housing, but they don't want to pay for it. They would rather stay in a shelter for free.

Things only work when everyone has skin in the game. People who don't have anything, or much of anything, to lose don't act like the rest of us.

You see this all the time with petty crime, the kind that disrupts one's life with court dates and jail-time, but not enough to keep them out of circulation for any real length of time. We don't behave that way because we have a lot to lose. Losers don't.

Even if an illegal can read English, plenty will still be careless, negligent, reckless. Because they're not playing the same game as us. Giving them CDLs is no different than giving our own urban youth or poor white trash CDLs.

The GOP RNC head and most of the RNC committee members are stiffs that view the RNC as 'their club' along with their allied political consultants and contractors for services. That is the true problem in GOP campaigning, the whole party is set up for donor servicing but not particularly representing their voters.

I've seen it at the ground level, at the state level, and briefly at the federal level for Congress. And I know the people they hire as some were former students. The true believers burn out pretty quickly in such an environment while the grifters stay on as a job and career.

That is the problem of the Republican party structures and like most semi monopolies, they suck at service to their voters but excel at whale donor sucking up. That is their true constituency.

I think the problem goes beyond literacy and laws. Many of these drivers are used to non-enforcement, and have no ability to fit into a rule based structure. India is a good example. There is no such thing as lane discipline in India. Trucks in India have been known to drive up over sidewalks and follow footpaths to avoid traffic. It's a regular occurrence which I witnessed personally.

Fines in India went up a bit in 2019 for traffic violations. But, they are still ridiculous. No license ($53) Driving drunk ($50) etc. (Rupee coversion to dollars).

I can tell you one thing they are doing in PA that surprised me. At regular truck stops you might see a couple small drones stationary in the air over the truck parking area. They're reading and matching unit numbers to license numbers, as well as DOT #'s.

266 Fed DOT is in fact moving on the truck driver/CDL issue. Current main target seems to be New York. Think thousands of CDLs were revoked, and threat made to end NY State's ability to issue CDLs. I am confident CA is also in the crosshairs. But really it's all 50 states (well, maybe not HI) that should be gone over with a fine-toothed comb.

"Red" states have many of the same raging pathologies as "blue" states, or at least some have some of them.

DOT should review every state's practices and make it a goal to clean it all up by 2028.

Well, its a little DEI ish but not really for that reason per se. They have to test in and retrain if they don't test in. They do have good medical schools in other countries too. The residency match is process isn't blind, but some places are trying to blind it. Its actually domestic medical schools that are DEI the standards for domestic minorities. The foreign schools are still taking the best kids in their country and turn out pretty good graduates. So I'd take a foreign medical school grad then over a domestic UCLA grad that was a minority. Sad but true. The fellowships are where FMGrad are probably getting preferences because they are cheaper . . .
