![]() Palm Beach’s legendary Mar-a-Lago estate transformed into a dreamy Enchanted Garden for Bettina Anderson’s bridal shower, celebrating her upcoming wedding to Don Jr. The whole affair was bursting with romantic spring florals and elegant vibes. How Bettina captured Don’s heart might come with a dash of tabloid scandal, but we’re fully embracing the playful spirit of those “Love Trumps All” cookies that were served. We are also ignoring the potential double entendres of this messaging. Anyway, Bettina Anderson looked every inch the radiant bride-to-be in a bespoke Safiyaa Agyness dress. The good news? The ready-to-wear version is still available on the Safiyaa site for $2,460—and it’s just as stunning.
![]() She paired it with a delicate Dior Small Lady Dior bag in Latte Cannage calfskin, plus a touch of sparkle from Manolo Blahnik Hangisli satin jewel-buckle slingback pumps in white. For a more budget-friendly option with the same flattering silhouette, try the blue floral midi dress by Mac Duggal—yours for $498 at Nordstrom. ![]() Ivanka Trump brought sophisticated charm in a Zimmermann Alchemy Paisley structured linen and silk organza midi dress in a soft pale pink. It’s still available in limited sizes at Nordstrom for $1,950. She finished the look with what appeared to be a classic brown Hermès Kelly bag. ![]() Want a similar corset-to-fit-and-flare vibe without the splurge? The Hutch Amara Corset Pleated Tulle Fit & Flare Midi Dress at Anthropologie is a winner at $348. ![]() Tiffany Trump leaned into delicate romance with the Duchess The Label Dahlia Dress in a dreamy Powder shade. It’s still available… but you might need to hop on a flight to the Philippines to snag it. A lovely stateside alternative: the As It May Samara Lace Midi Dress at Nordstrom for $595. ![]() Laura Trump went bold and vibrant in a teal-and-pink floral shirt dress from The Westside. Sourcing this one may require a detour to India or Dubai, so consider the fun Alice + Olivia Lucy Sleeveless Mini Shirtdress as a breezy stand-in for $465 at Saks. ![]() And stealing the “sweetest guest” award: Arabella Kushner (Ivanka’s 14-year-old daughter) looked perfectly age-appropriate and adorable in the Zimmermann The Wylie Picnic Dress in Blue Palm from the Resort 2025 collection, originally $850, now sold out. ![]() For a similar tropical ruffled charm that’s actually in stock, Dillard’s has the Mestiza New York Torero Tropical Palm Toile Print square-neck tiered ruffled maxi dress for $595. ![]() With this dreamy kickoff, anticipation is high for the wedding itself! ----- Thanks, Piper! A few hours ago Trump ordered the USS Spruance to open fire on a Chinese cargo ship headed for Iran which refused to stop for the blockade. The Spruance contacted the Chinese ship and told them to evacuate their engineering section; then sent several 5” shells through their engine compartment. Then they boarded her.

I've seen an interesting transition in leftwing memes/videos/screeds.
Recently they argued that increasing taxes to draconian levels would not have any effect on how much people worked AND that it would be good that people would just stop working. Well, now they've simplified the argument - they'll just kill anyone who makes over $X and that will leave enough for everyone. Amusingly though the Karens I see signing onto this on upperclass leftwing forums are exactly in the target group of the rich to be eaten in the forums for poorer leftwing groups... Playing little league, I was aggressive at the plate. Elbows up, closed stance and striding toward the mound. One game, the first time up, the pitcher nailed me just under my left arm. 37 A few hours ago Trump ordered the USS Spruance to open fire on a Chinese cargo ship headed for Iran which refused to stop for the blockade. The Spruance contacted the Chinese ship and told them to evacuate their engineering section; then sent several 5” shells through their engine compartment. Then they boarded her.
It’ll be damned interesting to see what cargo they were hauling - I’ll bet it wasn’t condensed milk. Goes without saying that both the Iranians and the Chinese are pissed the hell off. Posted by: Tom Servo --- Apr 19, 2026 · 7:25 PM UTC Today, an Iranian-flagged cargo ship named TOUSKA, nearly 900 feet long and weighing almost as much as an aircraft carrier, tried to get past our Naval Blockade, and it did not go well for them. The U.S. Navy Guided Missile Destroyer USS SPRUANCE intercepted the TOUSKA in the Gulf of Oman, and gave them fair warning to stop. The Iranian crew refused to listen, so our Navy ship stopped them right in their tracks by blowing a hole in the engineroom. Right now, U.S. Marines have custody of the vessel. The TOUSKA is under U.S. Treasury Sanctions because of their prior history of illegal activity. Been doing some "engineering" today - since I will be traveling semi-solo a couple of times over the next month, I need to be able to get me, my scooter, and my luggage from Point A to Point B by myself. Mr. TiFW and I have been looking at bungee cords and luggage straps and various and sundry things to make my job easier and keep my luggage attached to the back of my scooter without all of the pieces wildly careening around, striking unsuspecting airport/hotel patrons. This system must also be easy to set up and take down without executing the 5 basic ballet moves, because - again - I will be on my own. I have a bunch of different pieces being delivered to Chez TiFW over the next couple of days - I will figure this out and have fun doing it! I told Mr. TiFW that I can't believe that no one has come up with a solution for this problem by now - my scooter is "freedom" for me, but I always feel so bad for Mr. TiFW when he has to schlep his bags and mine and Rebecca's when we travel. You may think so! But I am down to 2 finalists in the sink for the half bath, I need to decide on laundry room wall paper, and I am still really wanting teak in the master bath. It’s a lot, I am weighing whether I have a temper tantrum over it or not. 😂. If not teak, then it’s tile picking out and that will be like starting over. I promised I would settle on at least the sink today, and this did not happen. But I found wallpaper I would love in my room and that wasn’t even on the list!

We had a massive ant hill built under an inverted, old-timey bathtub, most visibly above ground. Boy, were we wrong about the range of their spread. Still, the gasoline worked but we were chasing wildfires for at least an hour. Too much gas, and I'd bet some of those ants were bailing for an exit when they got covered with the fuel.

And on another note, I just wanted to give another plug to the "Sight and Sound" production of " A Great Awakening movie ." Of course I learned about George Whitfield in church history class, but this movie really made him come alive for me. This is a background video with the actors talking their roles. What I liked about t it is that they both are so refreshing and down to earth and really rather humble. It doesn't sound much like Many Hollywood actors, does it.? I don't know about the actor who plays Benjamin Franklin, but I'm guessing he wouldn't be working with them for years on their stage shows for Sight and Sound if his faith wasn't important to him. Jonathan Blair who plays Whitefield is quite forthright about his faith. Anyway, it's a non woke movie and it's really a guy friend film, since the only woman in it is Whitefield's mother . Eight minute video. Although maybe it's better if you've already seen the movie. https://tinyurl.com/38t72f9b Posted by: FenelonSpoke at April 19, 2026 11:15 PM (jtjbl) 212

So we had to talk to cops for awhile, and then I had to go make a big, ugly scene in the courtyard of the rathole apartments across from her church once they left. But I can say this - no matter how much it might suck, at least I'm not a 53 year old man with undescended testicles, in a Democrat GOTV choir singing a desultory parody of "Golden" by Huntr/x. Posted by: Alberta Oil Peon at April 19, 2026 11:27 PM (utfVc) That's a lovely wagon, but it would just be one more piece of luggage that I would have to check at the airport. Then there is the problem of loading the scooter (which collapses), my luggage, me, and then the collapsed wagon into either an Uber or a shuttle, and then reversing all of that when I get to the hotel and try to get everything into the room! Bungee cords and luggage straps can be taken on and off with relative speed and ease, and packed into a carry-on bag with the scooter batteries at the gate. What I am working out now is how to get everything bundled together (if possible). I may end up with something resembling a spider when all is said and done! 😂 The nice thing is that we found some "flat" bungee cords that look nice, and the hooks fit perfectly onto the frame of the scooter. Like I said, it's currently a work in progress; I hope to have all of the kinks worked out before we hit NYC next month. Ukraine began attacking Russia’s two oil export terminals on the Baltic Sea to deny Russian efforts to benefit from increasing oil income. Oil companies warned buyers they could declare force majeure on supply contracts from major Baltic Sea ports. Oil export facilities at the Baltic’s Ust-Luga and Primorsk account for about 60 percent of Russia’s oil export capacity. The closure of one will significantly restrict Russia’s ability to generate income for its war in Ukraine. So far Russia lost 40 to 43 percent of its oil export capacity and oil exports had fallen from four million to 2.32 million barrels per day. These operations have also reduced the domestic oil supply. And they have been attacking munitions factories to the point that Russian missile production is down 45 percent. One of the innovations that is raising casualties for the Russians for any gains is using drones deeper into Russian territory and targeting artillery crews and logistics. The early war artillery barrages are now a thing of the past and the war is focused on drones for Ukraine causing 90 percent or so of Russian casualties versus drones and missiles for Ukrainian casualties but not artillery anymore.
From Al Jazeera, "He (Ukrainian colonel) said an increase in mid-range strikes against logistics, warehouses, command posts and oil depots 30-120 km into the Russian rear had been particularly effective in hamstringing Russian assaults" There will be additional turns but essentially the front is stagnant with continued bloodletting mainly for whoever is on the offensive. Beginning to remind me of the Iran-Iraq war in the 80's. The last couple of years were Iranian human wave attacks against dug in Iraqis. Posted by: whig at April 20, 2026 12:03 AM (E4rtv) 293

241 Teresa have you looked at a giant carabiner? I've seen people pulling wagons behind golf carts with them. Might work with luggage and a scooter as long as there is an attachment point for the scooter. The luggage has a handle.
Posted by: lin-duh is offended at April 19, 2026 11:34 PM (VCgbV) The fun part is trying to turn corners - imagine a big piece of luggage strapped to a much smaller carry-on piece of of luggage, being hauled behind a motorized scooter. The scooter goes one way, the luggage goes the other way, and people are running for their lives trying to dodge the little old lady from Pasadena (Texas). It's a Benny Hill finale on steroids 😂 I think we have that part figured out, but it's going to take at least 2-3 long bungees wrapped around the larger piece of luggage and a secure way to strap the smaller suitcase to the larger one such that it doesn't go flying when turning a corner. The good thing is that once the larger piece of luggage is checked, it shouldn't be too hard to maneuver with the smaller piece in tow. I will definitely be putting something up on Facebook once we get the final design worked out 😊 Posted by: Teresa in Fort Worth, AoSHQ's Plucky Wee One - Eat the Cheesecake, Buy the Yarn. at April 20, 2026 12:06 AM (SRRAx) Posted by: Don Black at April 20, 2026 12:06 AM (ZxPkt) 299

No major movements in Ukraine, where apparently some of the rasputitsa (mud season) has already passed, as there are Russian mechanized operations resuming. Small "gainzz" here and there for either side, but more Russian than Ukrainian ones. Russia seems unable to defend industrial targets from drones, which is odd and sort of pathetic at this point. Ukraine has trouble defending almost anything from drones and missiles, and Russia continues to hit industrial, transportation, and power targets.
This gleaned from a very quick survey of generally reliable sites I've ignored since before Iran festivities, as it (Ukraine war) just doesn't matter that much and little is happening. Posted by: rhomboid at April 20, 2026 12:13 AM (U/Byj) 303

Current setup of the EU required unanimity for the loan package. Originally the EU just wanted to steal the frozen Russian funds but Trump talked them out of it at the time during the peace negotiations. Speaking of this season having odd patterns in the plant world, there have been very few impressive jacaranda blooms. Typically they put on an incredible display (in June), with bright lavender blooms. BTW these blooms are nasty buggers when they fall, they stain anything they touch.
This year, a few purple sections here and there on a few trees, and most are already fully leafed out, having skipped (somehow) the purple phase. More importantly, my meyer lemon tree doesn't yet have a single ripe lemon. Normally the big crop is in the winter and they're all ripe by January. Odd. They've done testing of ship-based lasers. Power requirements are huge. 100kW to 1MW required and the range is maybe 10 miles give or take. They did test such a thing on an aircraft, but scrapped the program because it just wasn't viable. Range, power, and weight problems to be a viable weapon. Discharge could be in the MW range for a few seconds. Laser just needs to send an intense burst for some fraction of a second, and not be on steady like a searchlight. The test airborne laser was the Boeing YAL-1, if interested. It was a heavily modified 747-400F. There have been further ideas about such airborne lasers since then, using unmanned drones. I don't know if any of them are still being pursued. Posted by: publius, Rascally Mr. Miley (w6EFb) at April 20, 2026 01:54 AM (w6EFb) 401

Omg lol. I was looking at homemade pasta recipes on youtube, because a few months back a distant cousin who I only met a few times made some for a christmas gathering and I hadn't had that in decades since my grandmother died. It was sooo good, light and airy, not like the box stuff. Mrs B bought a few attachments for her kitchenaid to make it since it really don't take that long. Anyway I found this vid. This guy reminds me soooo much of a distant relative I met when I was a kid. The way he talks, and how he mentions spinach and popeye. Its the same shit I heard as a kid. When he says "and we got a egg, I gotta du egg" I laughed my ass off. Dude brought back memories.

Hubby has been particularly agitated, the last couple of days. It blows my attitude for the remainder of the day...
I feel helpless. Hell, I *am* helpless, to change it. Sucks. So, when I get home I get busy with whatever I can to distract my mind. There's plenty to do after those years of caring for him at home (and neglecting things, because I couldn't turn my back on him for very long at a stretch) Posted by: JQ at April 20, 2026 02:30 AM (rdVOm) 418

Bezos booster was successful, but the second stage fucked up the payload orbit. The satellite, some communication thing, will be unusable and will have to be deorbited. Just to be clear, stuff like this happens all the time with new rockets. It just takes them a few flights to get all the bugs worked out. I'm pulling for Bezos. The more, the merrier. Blue Origin is competing or trying to with SpaceX with lunar landers, and is aiming for an unmanned test landing in a year or so. More power to 'em. Posted by: JQ at April 20, 2026 02:34 AM (rdVOm) Right? It looks so easy. The last time I saw that was when I was really young. Both grandmothers made it that way. I remember sheets of cardboard with white sheets laying on the beds with drying pasta on it. My immediate family, mom, aunts, etc, never did that. They were all born here, total American. Cranking out pasta on a machine was for the primitives. lol Posted by: Berserker-Dragonheads Division at April 20, 2026 02:45 AM (snZF9) 422
Bezos Moon lander is dubbed Blue Moon. The first version of that, dubbed Mark 1, is going to attempt to land at the lunar south pole near Shackleton Crater. They've named this lander Endurance, after Shackleton's ship.
They may try it before the end of this year. The human rated version will be the Mark 2. Posted by: publius, Rascally Mr. Miley (w6EFb) at April 20, 2026 02:49 AM (w6EFb) 423
Yes Edwin, that is a lot of it.
Braenyard, I am not actively seeking anyone, as far as I have witnessed women greatly outnumber men in memory care facilities. I was viewed as an interloper when I visited hubs in the "home", seriously, one woman was convinced that my husband was her man and she rammed me with her wheelchair a few times. My odds of finding a kindred spirit who isn't married in this liberal state are down to zero. Posted by: Debby Doberman Schultz at April 20, 2026 02:52 AM (0nHVk) 424
Grandma (dad's Irish mom!) made "noodles" that way-- flour on the counter, add eggs, pinch of salt, splash of oil, mix by hand... maybe some water, maybe not... and then rolled out thin, by hand. Cut with a special cutter (which I now have) into thin strips, probably "fettucini" width.
Then she'd dry them overnight on the kitchen counter, over a little rack she'd made. Delicious! Posted by: JQ at April 20, 2026 02:52 AM (rdVOm) 425
Debby, that must have been *trying* for you!
Hub's only "girlfriend" so far, has been a cute young cna who treated him so nicely. I wonder if she quit already, or went to night shift-- haven't seen her for a couple of weeks now. In that age group women greatly outnumber men.
Men are designed to die. They perpetuate the species their job is done. Women nurture the rest of their lives. For a while I delivered furniture. Every rest home we would be met in the halls by women asking, 'is it a man, is it a man?'. The younger set is more discriminating.
