Today, an Iranian-flagged cargo ship named TOUSKA, nearly 900 feet long and weighing almost as much as an aircraft carrier, tried to get past our Naval Blockade, and it did not go well for them.
The U.S. Navy Guided Missile Destroyer USS SPRUANCE intercepted the TOUSKA in the Gulf of Oman, and gave them fair warning to stop. The Iranian crew refused to listen, so our Navy ship stopped them right in their tracks by blowing a hole in the engineroom.
Right now, U.S. Marines have custody of the vessel. The TOUSKA is under U.S. Treasury Sanctions because of their prior history of illegal activity. We have full custody

That appears to be a 275 gallon tote (I'm familiar with them from work). At 6 pounds per gallon for gasoline, that would be about 1650 pounds.

That's definitely a thousand-liter tote. It's a very standard size. A thousand liters is one cubic meter - a cube one meter on each side. Compared to the size of the car, that fits. A thousand liters is about 265 gallons.

Been doing some "engineering" today - since I will be traveling semi-solo a couple of times over the next month, I need to be able to get me, my scooter, and my luggage from Point A to Point B by myself.
Mr. TiFW and I have been looking at bungee cords and luggage straps and various and sundry things to make my job easier and keep my luggage attached to the back of my scooter without all of the pieces wildly careening around, striking unsuspecting airport/hotel patrons.
This system must also be easy to set up and take down without executing the 5 basic ballet moves, because - again - I will be on my own. I have a bunch of different pieces being delivered to Chez TiFW over the next couple of days - I will figure this out and have fun doing it!
I told Mr. TiFW that I can't believe that no one has come up with a solution for this problem by now - my scooter is "freedom" for me, but I always feel so bad for Mr. TiFW when he has to schlep his bags and mine and Rebecca's when we travel.
Hopefully this will help in some small way -

Don't know if that would work, but it would be fun. You have one single goal when removing an ant hill. KILL THE QUEEN. That a "game over".
Best way is to use an insecticide (but leave the ant hill alone for a full day or they will split the colony). Then, once the insecticide is down the hatch...wait a little while and then pour a couple gallons of boiling water down the main shoot. It will go right to a lethargic queen...and you're good.

Rationale for using liquid nitrogen is it's fairly cheap, non-toxic to humans and pets, and non-persistent. And on another note, I just wanted to give another plug to the "Sight and Sound" production of " A Great Awakening movie ." Of course I learned about George Whitfield in church history class, but this movie really made him come alive for me. This is a background video with the actors talking their roles. What I liked about t it is that they both are so refreshing and down to earth and really rather humble. It doesn't sound much like Many Hollywood actors, does it.? I don't know about the actor who plays Benjamin Franklin, but I'm guessing he wouldn't be working with them for years on their stage shows for Sight and Sound if his faith wasn't important to him. Jonathan Blair who plays Whitefield is quite forthright about his faith.
Anyway, it's a non woke movie and it's really a guy friend film, since the only woman in it is Whitefield's mother . Eight minute video. Although maybe it's better if you've already seen the movie.

I probably should have specified that I am doing this project to get all of my stuff through airports and hotels by myself without taking out any passengers or patrons who may be unlucky enough to be in my blind spots. Part of the problem is that any "system" has to be flexible, but semi-"rigid" in order to keep everything attached and in a straight line behind the scooter.
I am sure that I must have looked quite the sight this afternoon riding my scooter down the street, trailing luggage behind me 😂😂😂 It is the only way to figure out what works and what doesn't, though! Theory is all well and good, but everyone knows that a good idea can fall apart when testing starts...

Well I had a real sonofabitchin' cocksucker of a week.
A whole lot of crap at work. My daughter was sick, my stepson was a pain in the ass, and my wife was overworked too, so it all sucked. But I was feeling better after a day and a half of gardening, and as I was putting down my pepper patch, she calls me in tears.
Someone broke into her car while she was in church, of all places. So we had to talk to cops for awhile, and then I had to go make a big, ugly scene in the courtyard of the rathole apartments across from her church once they left.
But I can say this - no matter how much it might suck, at least I'm not a 53 year old man with undescended testicles, in a Democrat GOTV choir singing a desultory parody of "Golden" by Huntr/x.
I guess some guys are just like "well I'm going to Hell no matter what, so I might as well start getting acclimated. "

That's a lovely wagon, but it would just be one more piece of luggage that I would have to check at the airport. Then there is the problem of loading the scooter (which collapses), my luggage, me, and then the collapsed wagon into either an Uber or a shuttle, and then reversing all of that when I get to the hotel and try to get everything into the room!
Bungee cords and luggage straps can be taken on and off with relative speed and ease, and packed into a carry-on bag with the scooter batteries at the gate. What I am working out now is how to get everything bundled together (if possible). I may end up with something resembling a spider when all is said and done! 😂
The nice thing is that we found some "flat" bungee cords that look nice, and the hooks fit perfectly onto the frame of the scooter. Like I said, it's currently a work in progress; I hope to have all of the kinks worked out before we hit NYC next month.

Oil export facilities at the Baltic’s Ust-Luga and Primorsk account for about 60 percent of Russia’s oil export capacity. The closure of one will significantly restrict Russia’s ability to generate income for its war in Ukraine.
So far Russia lost 40 to 43 percent of its oil export capacity and oil exports had fallen from four million to 2.32 million barrels per day. These operations have also reduced the domestic oil supply. And they have been attacking munitions factories to the point that Russian missile production is down 45 percent.

A friend once complained that his cat would "make biscuits" on his side at night until he rolled over, and then would occupy the warm spot, until it cooled off, and then repeated the trick until he fell off the bed.

The fun part is trying to turn corners - imagine a big piece of luggage strapped to a much smaller carry-on piece of of luggage, being hauled behind a motorized scooter. The scooter goes one way, the luggage goes the other way, and people are running for their lives trying to dodge the little old lady from Pasadena (Texas). It's a Benny Hill finale on steroids 😂
I think we have that part figured out, but it's going to take at least 2-3 long bungees wrapped around the larger piece of luggage and a secure way to strap the smaller suitcase to the larger one such that it doesn't go flying when turning a corner.
The good thing is that once the larger piece of luggage is checked, it shouldn't be too hard to maneuver with the smaller piece in tow.
I will definitely be putting something up on Facebook once we get the final design worked out 😊

They've done testing of ship-based lasers. Power requirements are huge. 100kW to 1MW required and the range is maybe 10 miles give or take.
They did test such a thing on an aircraft, but scrapped the program because it just wasn't viable. Range, power, and weight problems to be a viable weapon.

The test airborne laser was the Boeing YAL-1, if interested. It was a heavily modified 747-400F.
There have been further ideas about such airborne lasers since then, using unmanned drones. I don't know if any of them are still being pursued.

So, when I get home I get busy with whatever I can to distract my mind. There's plenty to do after those years of caring for him at home (and neglecting things, because I couldn't turn my back on him for very long at a stretch)

Bezos booster was successful, but the second stage fucked up the payload orbit. The satellite, some communication thing, will be unusable and will have to be deorbited. Blue Origin said no worries, the spacecraft was fully insured.
I wonder how much payload insurance costs?

Just to be clear, stuff like this happens all the time with new rockets. It just takes them a few flights to get all the bugs worked out.
I'm pulling for Bezos. The more, the merrier. Blue Origin is competing or trying to with SpaceX with lunar landers, and is aiming for an unmanned test landing in a year or so. More power to 'em.

Right? It looks so easy. The last time I saw that was when I was really young. Both grandmothers made it that way. I remember sheets of cardboard with white sheets laying on the beds with drying pasta on it. My immediate family, mom, aunts, etc, never did that. They were all born here, total American. Cranking out pasta on a machine was for the primitives. lol

Braenyard, I am not actively seeking anyone, as far as I have witnessed women greatly outnumber men in memory care facilities. I was viewed as an interloper when I visited hubs in the "home", seriously, one woman was convinced that my husband was her man and she rammed me with her wheelchair a few times. My odds of finding a kindred spirit who isn't married in this liberal state are down to zero.

Hub's only "girlfriend" so far, has been a cute young cna who treated him so nicely. I wonder if she quit already, or went to night shift-- haven't seen her for a couple of weeks now. Too bad, she was patient and thoughtful and hubby cooperated with her!

Sorry your weather has been chilly! It's just now starting to get comfy here again. Last week was cold, so I'd re-lit the heater after the previous week of nice days. This week is promising to be more warm & dry, so I shut off the heater again today.
Shoulders are fairly stiff, from using string trimmer LOL
Need to get the walk-behind unit out of storage & use that one for a while.

There's a lot of truth to that. When I was doing kitchens and baths we worked in a different house almost every week or 2. You saw the dudes that were just waiting to die. My brother would see them and say " yeah he can't wait to go into the ground". You could tell, they were used up, they were done, and all married to seahags. Unlike Harry Mudd they couldn't just go farther out on space.

There's one in an outbuilding here. Hubs has a 2000 Sportster 1200. And it's been in some state of disassembly for a few years! I had no idea there was any problem with it, he just stopped riding (while we were both still working) but I figured it was simply a matter of convenience, since our hours were early, long and he would tire so easily...
Anyway, it's there and I have *no idea* why he tore into it. Asked him a couple of years ago "Why? You never mentioned it, so what's wrong with it?" and he said he couldn't remember.
Sad!
