Question, though. Why doesn't it extend to Tamaulipas? Mexico's coast has tons of oil and, I believe, the inland has natural gas. Only reason the MX coast (or MX generally) isn't as wealthy as the American Gulf Coast is due to incompetence and corruption

The vagaries of launch windows gets quite complicated. Something I heard them say during the Artemis II run-up, was the number of "cut outs" in the roughly 2hr launch window they had each day for 5 or 6 days per month.
There were over 100 of these, a few seconds to a minute or two, compared to maybe 80 or so for Artemis I. That's due to the greatly increased number of stuff in orbit and the space junk in general.

You remind me of a little thing that sticks in my mind about how much higher manufacturing quality is now than it was a couple generations back. The first car I remember riding in was my dad’s ‘56 four door Fairlane, blue and white twotone, lovely vehicle. I also remember we always had to leave the windows cracked open a bit, because if the were all rolled up tight and you slammed a front door closed, one of the back doors would pop open.

Those are COLA cut outs, for Collision Avoidance cut outs, specific periods of time from a few seconds to a minute or two when the rocket cannot launch. That all as to be worked into the final countdown very carefully, and once things start to get automated in the final minutes, there's a point of no return.

Saw the Allman brothers early on, but never got to see this great band, to my sorrow. I was either in MS and they were out West where I was in college, or I was out West when they were in MS. I know because I looked at their schedule a year ago to try to figure out why I never saw them. Which was a huge bummer in my life.

And flight termination, aka self-destruct, falls entirely on them. They set that up so they are independent, using their own telemetry and tracking systems, independent of NASA.
Suppose a manned flight went out of control, and they lost all communication and didn't know if the launch escape worked. It would be the Space Force range command officer would make the call to self-destruct.

There was a bridge with a wall like this in Paris they had to take down as the locks weighed so much. Think son and DIL put a lock on it our first trip there.

I'll be interested in how this further constrains things. General Relativity remains the greatest, most successful physical theory yet. And it remains classical, deterministic, and continuous, refusing any attempts at quantization. And yet it is the most accurate theory to date.
They set things up with various parameters that constrain how much the real gravity can deviate from GR predictions, and those constraints get smaller and smaller.
The will tighten it even more.

While it doesn't seem like much, Mr. Newton alone would off by. GR adds periodic terms with amplitudes of 6m to that position vs time. Very tiny amount, but now about 3 orders of magnitude greater than the state of the art precision.

The funny part is the 2 tow guys were standing there, they were looking at some of the other bikes, and were actually curious about the one they towed in. They saw the whole episode with the battery cable, and before I started it I checked the oil and said yeah this no good, no way its full like that if the bike sat that long. I start the bike, the oil starts to come up and I shut it off and said yup, knew it. The dude looks at me and says. I'm sending everybody I know with a harley here, thats some 6th sense shit you got. I said no, we get a line of retards here, its called repetition, lol.

Yep! 47yrs married! Met him 49yrs ago and he's still the one I'd run to.
First year he was a Moron, findest kind of Moron breaking up with me each season for no reason. I was busy and did not have time for this and he got that message by the third time that I was annoyed and not waiting for him.
He got it out of his system, whatever it was. We were 22yrs old and had he bothered to ask I wasn't "ready" to settle down, either. Married 2yrs later as the grass was not greener for him as he found out.
I'd told him that he'd not have a cent left, rarely see our boys and that was after I nearly killed him if he every strayed. No problems once we married, thankfully. He hates it when I bring up his eejit self the first year we dated but I don't care.

That's tidal locking. I could try to ramble on for a few paragraphs trying to condense this down, but the best thing is to look it up and see the diagrams. Any small body orbiting close enough to a larger body will tend to do that and quickly. The tidal gradient (variation in gravity across the extend of the body) produces a torque to slow down.
The mechanism is still going on, slowing down the earth's rotation and throwing the Moon into a higher orbit at about 1.5" per year.

Yes indeed. But with Phobos, there's a twist. Rather than slowing down Mars and spiraling out, Phobos is trying to speed Mars rotation up, and thus spiraling *in*.
The reason is Phobos is so close to Mars, the orbital period is less than the rotation period. Phobos rises in the West and sets in the east.
The tidal interaction there causes an inspiral. Deimos is just outside that, and so it is on the out-spiral side.

Not a wildcat, just a Southern redneck who did not put up with nonsense. I was rather innocent and weird (did not date much in HS or most of college just to be going out).
However, I knew my worth and he nearly drove me insane. By the time he realized I was The One I told him he was crazy, that I had one more semester of nursing school left (the hardest) and he'd need to wait til I graduated. That I did not have time for this.
Same when he proposed months later and we were seeing each other: I laughed and told him he was crazy again, and IF he did not break up with me for a full year to ask again. We got engaged 8mo later.
That stubborn streak and independence got his attention and he suddenly also got his act together. Worth it, altho not normal or traditional.
I should write a book on how to hook 'em, but the women today are too weird to understand.

These tidal interactions and the torques and spin-orbit interaction they cause get quite complex.
Take Mercury. Early on, everyone just assumed it would be tidally locked to the Sun. They couldn't see it well enough to note enough surface features to time the rotation. In 1965, they managed to measure it using Arecibo as a big interplanetary radar. Turned out it was rotating faster.
It's in a 3:2 tidal "lock", but some prefer resonance, reserving "lock" for 1:1. Eccentricity adds a twist. Mercury is eccentric enough that the 3:2 state becomes a local minimum in the total energy, and it fell into that rather than 1:1.
