Iran: Blockade Successful; Trump Says War "Very Close" to Ending; Iranian Patriots Assassinate a Basij Commander in Tehran

All sorts of news:

blockadechina.jpg

He says the war is "very close" to ending.

Trump said that if China sends weapons to Iran, he'll hit them with a 50% tariff. I think that would hold up because we're engaged in active hostilities with Iran. Not sure though. The courts are captured by the enemy.

The blockade has succeeded in blocking all ships coming to and leaving from Iranian ports while allowing non-Iranian shipping:

Mario Nawfal
@MarioNawfal

18h

First full day of the U.S. naval blockade on Iran:
- Zero vessels left Iranian ports
- Six merchant ships turned back after American warnings
- No shots fired, no enforcement needed

Meanwhile, traffic through the Strait of Hormuz continued normally with over 20 vessels passing through.

The blockade is off to a quiet but effective start.

Iran blinked first, ships are turning around without a fight.

The real test will come in the next few days when Tehran decides whether to push back or keep playing it safe.

🚨 TRUMP'S BLOCKADE IS WORKING

More than 20 COMMERCIAL SHIPS have sailed through the Strait of Hormuz, UNSCATHED, in just the last 24 hours with total safety of movement, per WSJ

Just as 47 promised, Iran is still choked off!

Terrorist News Service Reuters claimed that a tanker had gotten through the blockade but Reuters, get this, lied. I'm sorry to be so blunt but I don't have time to soften the blow -- Reuters lied. We're all saddened and chagrined, but that's the truth of it.

That ship was coming from a UAE port, and obviously we're not blocking the oil shipments of our ally UAE. To do so would be to enforce Iran's blockade against our own allies and our own interests.

U.S. Central Command
@CENTCOM

15h

U.S. Navy guided-missile destroyers are among the assets executing a blockade mission impacting Iranian ports. The blockade is being enforced impartially against vessels of all nations entering or leaving coastal areas or ports in Iran. A typical destroyer has a crew of more than 300 Sailors that are highly trained in conducting offensive and defensive maritime operations.

The Navy is releasing underwater drones to find and destroy the mines Iran has seeded the Strait of America with. Iran claims they "forgot" where they put these mines so they cannot tell us where they are.

They will create a "safe passage" through the Strait of America where they can direct tankers to travel through.

Trump says he seeks a "quick and brutal" end to the war. He claims that Iran is lighting up his phone looking for a deal. But then, this is the Muslim way of fighting a terrorist war. They attack, then they lie to get a ceasefire so that you can't attack them back.

Iran threatens to destroy all non-Iranian ports in the Strait of America, but I don't think they have the firepower remaining for that.

Finally, Tousi has been reporting Iranian patriots fighting IRGC thugs of the Islamic Occupation Forces. One Basij commander was stabbed to death in Tehran district 18, and three bombs were detonated in Tehran district 10.

War reporting is 90% propaganda, including from groups we favor, so I can't say how serious or widespread this resistance is. But it does seem to be confirmed by the IRGC, who are downplaying it, while conceding that it's happening.

Frankly, I expect that one or two Iranian ships will likely succeed in evading the blockade, particularly in the early stages. No matter how competent our own Navy is, a sufficiently savvy captain might get lucky. And we can expect the MFM to caterwaul about how a escape of single ship totally invalidates the Orange Man's strategy.

During Desert Shield, my unit in the Sinai watched the USS Thomas S Gates sit about 10-20 miles offshore, enforcing the blockade of Aqaba. The first N Korean ship to try getting through was reported widely on CNN, right up until they pulled in to the coast and ran past us just after dawn, dangerously close to the reefs. I frickin' watched them run past the base about 1000 yards offshore. Reminded me that no war or military operation is perfect, because the enemy also gets a vote on how the war is conducted.

The USS Gates began moving closer to the coast at various times just to keep any blockade runners guessing.

They didn't have any mine layers left when they put out the threat.

What were they going to do? Push them off dinghies?

Hell, Lloyd's of London said they'd cover the wartime risk for sailing through the strait weeks back, helped by the fact that the US Treasury said they'd function as reinsurer to Lloyd's.

94 My comment from two weeks ago --

Trump planned a commercial corridor in the Strait, and the war, and shutdown, is ground prep for that.

He planned the crisis to show the world that we can not live with the threat of Iran (or China) closing it as they please. In spite of the net zero insanity.

So now they know -- they need the Strait.
Now Trump will offer a solution. A solution he has been planning for years.

50% seems like a good starting point. Maybe higher if those who finally end up running are assholes and need to have their minds adjusted until they fully understand they are a USA colony.

There probably were no mines, and drones probably confirmed that before the two destroyers did their freedom of navigation round trip through the Strait.

Forcing a convoy through the Strait might break the ice a bit on fear among shipowners/insurance clubs, but just as important will put Iran on the spot. They attack any such convoy or its escorts, it's game back on, and I think we can crush their anti-shipping operations, which remains their only important one (ballistic missiles also important, but can't get them out of their current situation).

End to the war lacking the key ingredients that were absent from JCPOA, that Trump correctly junked in Term 1, seems very unlikely and would be a huge mistake. It's not just nukes.

163 Conspiracy theorists can only "explain" the present and past, usually with shifting narratives.

What they cannot do well is predict the future. And somewhere in our annals you would find more than one comment of mine relaying Brit Lass's theory that at least "one" but definitely "one" of the main networks is gonna have to make a turn toward conservative. Which at least at the time did not seem plausible.

And nearly on cue here comes CBS - although it didn't happen as soon as she thought it would but they did do covid and removed Trump, so maybe they honestly thought they could just get away with business as usual.

Until Trump got elected again.

Antebellum, Iran's oil was being sold mostly to China at massively reduced rates because it was all sanctioned. Just ending that without changing anything else, forcing China to pay market rates for Iranian oil, would be a solid blow to the Chinese economy.

But, Trump's goal is obviously to get as much of the world's oil under American control (directly or indirectly) as possible. I think it's like 60% before the Iran conflict.

This makes America the world's daddy and in position to dictate terms to the entire planet. That also weakens China.

This is correct, but there is another angle -- when your birthrate is .9, that means each kid has 2 parents and 4 grandparents where that kid is their only legacy. If a few hundred thousand get killed in a war, a LOT of people will be very very upset and it would end the regime.

China's wartime strategy has always been to pile up dead bodies so high that the enemy can no longer shoot over them. They laughed at US backing off on VN because of 50k dead. They lose that in a bad flu season. Tables have turned.

I saw yesterday and today that the NY Post, apparently falling in line with propaganda, reported an Iranian ship got through! Almost cheering. I sneered and did not read.

All Iran has left, so I read, are those little boats that our AF could zap as they did the Venezuelan drug boats. No worries!

Prayers for our Navy, AF, Seals, Special Ops and all US military and Mossad to END THIS.

Loved the "big Xi hug" from chy na, President Trump!

When there is peace, what will Leo protest then, eh? You'd THINK he'd sort of care about Christian souls living in fear and secrecy in Iran. Apparently his TDS blinds him to all but his precious migrants immigrating here to kill us. They are not the immigrant families of old, Leo.

What will the Dims whine about when Iran is defeated? Will they want to import illegal IRGC migrants (those who survive) into MN to help the fraud?

I send foul smells and plague fleas to their nethers, including the NY Post. Who may or may not be forgiven, depending on if I have wine soon.

This makes America the world's daddy and in position to dictate terms to the entire planet. That also weakens China.

264 Antebellum, Iran's oil was being sold mostly to China at massively reduced rates because it was all sanctioned. Just ending that without changing anything else, forcing China to pay market rates for Iranian oil, would be a solid blow to the Chinese economy.

What is fascinating is that for the last 40 some-odd years, the USN and Treasury have been enforcing the Iranian embargo, which enforced the situation that China could get the oil from Iran (and later Venezuela) at that discount, which meant the US was not only undercutting our own oil production and that of OPEC, but also subsidizing the Chinese industries through both below market oil prices and by having them buy Treasuries to sop up all the money they get from selling us the very goods we are helping China make with the extra cheap oil.

Rather like that CIA former spook John Kiriakou who did time for running his mouth in public about CIA torture. Knowledgeable, but has a chip on his shoulder about the CIA the size of a Kia Sorrento. Also, stupidly naive about his signature issue. Every time he spouts off on the media, it's always "torture and enhanced interrogation never works", even though EVERY NATION ON EARTH uses it. He never considers the possibility that it doesn't work for the US because of the support the terrorists get from American commie cocksuckers who love turning traitor.

It's been illegal until recently to have a replacement birthrate over 1. 2-3 generations of Chinese forced into a culture where 1 kid is max.

China's population is probably no more than 800,000,000, and it's crashing hard. It should have a smaller population than the US in 50 years.

Well, Zappa booted Lowell when Lowell played him Willin' in its earliest form.

Frank didn't really do much to support Little Feat once George was out of the Mothers.

When you listen to Little Feat playing Live / In Studio sets as a full band, they were even better than their studio output. There's something lost when you start tracking individual pieces of a song rather than playing them live as an ensemble.

Steely Dan never capitalized on that. They, much like the Eagles, played to their Studio output.

I want to hear the band as a whole. I want them playing to the edge of their talent. Pushing and exploring. Not repeating the same performance over and over.

Saw the box on the porch last night. It had our neighbor's name on it so my dude brought it next door. Neighbor will open the box and will now wonder about what type of weird stuff is going on next door. He'll open when he gets home from work today.

Amazon has messed up. I realize this is a first world problem and should not be on Ace's post with the Iran war. However, in the event of a sudden stabbing I may wear them all of the time (I only got one, so far).

Steely Dan is one of those acts that people either marvel at the high technical skills of the musicians and the extreme polish of their studio albums, or they hate it as artificial and inorganic. Aja is a sonic marvel as far as production and musicianship but icy hipster bitchiness can leave some people cold.

Then you have other bands that are great live and suck in the studio. And some acts that inexplicably have 'it' whether in the studio or live. Jim Croce for example.

375 328 Al Kooper story on soundonsound dot com

"In 1965, Wilson invited Kooper to watch one of the producer's sessions for Bob Dylan's Highway 61 Revisited, at the Columbia Studios on West 53rd Street in Manhattan. "It was the first time I saw Mike Bloomfield play," Kooper remembers. "Dylan sessions were a little chaotic, and I was 21 and very ambitious. I was listening to 'Like A Rolling Stone' being rehearsed by the band and I suggested me playing an organ part. Tom said 'You're a guitar player, not an organ player.' Then he went to take a phone call and I thought to myself 'Well, he didn't say no.'

So I went out into the studio and sat down at the organ. Then Tom comes back into the room. He says 'What are you doing out there?' I nervously laughed, and Tom let me stay. The next take was the keeper."
Primarily a guitarist, Al Kooper grabbed the opportunity to play Hammond on Bob Dylan's 'Like A Rolling Stone', and thereafter established himself as a session keyboard player.

382 I'm continually annoyed by all the happy talk from Trump.
He's setting himself up to be jumped on by Dems and MoFoMedia when there are the likely inevitable losses.

1) Our patrol ships present a big wide-body target for a lucky hit by Iranians. Trump should be warning America that there are real risks and that it is near impossible for us to be untouched. We should say we expect setbacks but we will keep moving forward.

2) We need to be parachuting in AK47s and grenades by the tens of thousands. Litter Tehran with them like confetti. The IRGC will get some but they are useless for them (they already have small arms) but they cant be everywhere at once. Thus most of these packages will get into the hands of the citizens. Then it's up to them if they really want to revolt.
