I frickin' watched them run past the base about 1000 yards offshore. Reminded me that no war or military operation is perfect, because the enemy also gets a vote on how the war is conducted.

I am an expert, and he is partially right. Redrill is pretty extreme, but your output might be curtailed for quite a while, maybe forever. Once you are producing you need to keep producing. Stopping and starting means you'll get overall less oil out of the ground.

I think Xi was using the threat of invasion to push demoralization and inside treachery in Taiwan via the Kuomintang Party of One China more than anything. My guess is he thought the barrage of missiles and blockade of Taiwan would suffice rather than a riskier invasion.
Same reason we are rebuilding our Island Chain defenses with rebuilt dispersal airbases on old US WWII era airfields (Tinian for example) and reacquainting ourselves other likeminded governments in the area like Malaysia and Indonesia.

Antebellum, Iran's oil was being sold mostly to China at massively reduced rates because it was all sanctioned. Just ending that without changing anything else, forcing China to pay market rates for Iranian oil, would be a solid blow to the Chinese economy.
But, Trump's goal is obviously to get as much of the world's oil under American control (directly or indirectly) as possible. I think it's like 60% before the Iran conflict.
This makes America the world's daddy and in position to dictate terms to the entire planet. That also weakens China.

What is fascinating is that for the last 40 some-odd years, the USN and Treasury have been enforcing the Iranian embargo, which enforced the situation that China could get the oil from Iran (and later Venezuela) at that discount, which meant the US was not only undercutting our own oil production and that of OPEC, but also subsidizing the Chinese industries through both below market oil prices and by having them buy Treasuries to sop up all the money they get from selling us the very goods we are helping China make with the extra cheap oil.

Frank didn't really do much to support Little Feat once George was out of the Mothers.
When you listen to Little Feat playing Live / In Studio sets as a full band, they were even better than their studio output. There's something lost when you start tracking individual pieces of a song rather than playing them live as an ensemble.

I want to hear the band as a whole. I want them playing to the edge of their talent. Pushing and exploring. Not repeating the same performance over and over.

Saw the box on the porch last night. It had our neighbor's name on it so my dude brought it next door. Neighbor will open the box and will now wonder about what type of weird stuff is going on next door. He'll open when he gets home from work today.
Amazon has messed up. I realize this is a first world problem and should not be on Ace's post with the Iran war. However, in the event of a sudden stabbing I may wear them all of the time (I only got one, so far).
We are having beef/bean enchiladas tonight instead of the fancy potato dish with chicken. My life is made difficult weekly by the stupidity of others.

Steely Dan is one of those acts that people either marvel at the high technical skills of the musicians and the extreme polish of their studio albums, or they hate it as artificial and inorganic. Aja is a sonic marvel as far as production and musicianship but icy hipster bitchiness can leave some people cold.
Then you have other bands that are great live and suck in the studio. And some acts that inexplicably have 'it' whether in the studio or live. Jim Croce for example.

"It was the first time I saw Mike Bloomfield play," Kooper remembers. "Dylan sessions were a little chaotic, and I was 21 and very ambitious. I was listening to 'Like A Rolling Stone' being rehearsed by the band and I suggested me playing an organ part. Tom said 'You're a guitar player, not an organ player.' Then he went to take a phone call and I thought to myself 'Well, he didn't say no.'
So I went out into the studio and sat down at the organ. Then Tom comes back into the room. He says 'What are you doing out there?' I nervously laughed, and Tom let me stay. The next take was the keeper."
Primarily a guitarist, Al Kooper grabbed the opportunity to play Hammond on Bob Dylan's 'Like A Rolling Stone', and thereafter established himself as a session keyboard player.

1) Our patrol ships present a big wide-body target for a lucky hit by Iranians. Trump should be warning America that there are real risks and that it is near impossible for us to be untouched. We should say we expect setbacks but we will keep moving forward.
2) We need to be parachuting in AK47s and grenades by the tens of thousands. Litter Tehran with them like confetti. The IRGC will get some but they are useless for them (they already have small arms) but they cant be everywhere at once. Thus most of these packages will get into the hands of the citizens. Then it's up to them if they really want to revolt.
