Surely, when you misrepresent your business, collect federal and state money not associated with the declared services, and in many case transport that "cash/revenue" outside the borders of the US as the Somalis were doing to the tune of about $18 Million each week, the IRS should be involved to some extent. Yet, whenever charges are levied, there are never any tax evasion or misrepresentation charges included. You're not far off here. There was news the other day that Newsom was spending $20 million to a consultant to study benefits fraud and how to combat it. 1. Bonta will indict them and they'll be convicted. The local State DA running the cases will recommend probation. The judge will give them probation. Along with an apology for something. 2. Absolute horseshit. There is no need to spend $20 million on a consultant for this, other than just plain graft. This is well-trod territory with a deep bench in current and former DOJ, OIG, and AUSA professionals. Skilling case involved Jeffrey Skilling of Enron and Weissman pursued him on the basis of 'honest work' misreading of the statute. Later as head of the Criminal Fraud division, he was involved in supervising the McDonnell case and once again his case theory expanded the criminal statute far beyond what it was intended to do. Both Scotus cases were unanimous in rejecting Andrew's fever dream distortions of federal criminal statutes. Ginsberg wrote Skilling and Roberts wrote the next one. Weissman again tried to claim ordinary political actions like hosting a meeting or introducing people was akin to Hobbs Act and Honest Work violations of federal criminal statutes.

Because Ellison also bought -- unwisely, I think -- Warner Bros., that means CNN will also be under his command when the purchase is approved by the FCC later this year.
Posted by: Disinformation Expert Ace at 05:30 PM I believe that David is making a Competence Arbitrage play, betting that the previous owners of Warner Bros. were making such poor use of its assets that any valuation based on its income under them, even inflated, would grossly undervalue its profit-making potential under his own leadership. Only time will tell if he judged correctly, but I think he was right about their disuse and misuse of its assets. 83 whig, I truly believe if Sessions had been head of DHS he would have been very effective. I read all his work on illegal immigration and it really was his niche. Making him AG was a disaster.
Posted by: Ben Had ====== To some degree, it was Rudy's fault. AG was Rudy's to have but Rudy wanted Sec of State or nothing. Thus, Sleepy Jeff became AG to disastrous consequences. Rod the Rat ran the DoJ essentially from the get go. And Rod was dirty from his actions as ED of MD prosecutor involving both spying on a journalist and covering for Killary in her Uranium 1 for cash dealings. Whether Sessions was genuine, I dunno. McConnell's wrangling of anti trump GOP Senators, some of which like McCain were involved in the PeePee dossier, made it worse. Trump couldn't fire Sessions without possibly getting an obstruction charge and yet could not shut down the draining Mueller fake investigation. By impeaching him twice, the idiotic Democrats and the cowardly GOP have essentially swiped off the safety on Golden Scalp Weasel this term. I only hope his legacy continues to reshape the hostile takeover of the GOP or we are all screwed. Posted by: whig at April 09, 2026 06:13 PM (E4rtv) 107
