First World Problems...

This is the most ridiculous packaging I have encountered in a very long time. These batteries are encased in plastic that has no seam to make it easy to peel apart. Then they are wrapped in another layer of plastic before they are wrapped in thin but stupidly tough cardboard.

Oh...they are also flavored. I shit you not! They have a "non-toxic bitter coating" so that you don't accidentally confuse them for mints and pop one into your mouth, and then chew them up. I guess.

I get that the company is trying keep kids from eating batteries, or maybe keep adults from eating batteries! But how about a little bit of personal responsibility? Like putting them on a high shelf. Yeah...that's a complex operation, but I managed to do it!

9 I think it’s also for stealing - thieves take the batteries out of the packaging so sensors don’t go off if you walk out the door. I have colored LED lights in my studio that you control with a remote that uses those batteries. I do through a lot of them. I know to use scissors but it’s still a pain in the tail.

This is, I think, a relatively recent thing. There are devices that uses these sort of flat batteries where coated batteries don’t work. I have a whole pack of coated CR-2034s, I think, that I can only use in a few of the devices I have that need them. The coating blocks a connection in the others.

I've been thinking about proposing an adjacent topic, Petty Complaints and Irritations. One of my current ones is during my morning business show, on the commercial break, they insert one or two Spanish-language commercials. I don't object to the commercials themselves, nor do I blame the sponsors for trying to reach a bilingual audience, but the change in language (cadence) is jarring to say the least.

Just a petty irritation. I have others, but can't think of them now.....

mini-Dozier, it's so thin and light I forget about it, lose it then find it in the bottom of the wash tub.
Had a Kershaw 3" very light that they don't make anymore that was perfect.

They do not make decent looking everyday carry with a thumb assist and lock blade that doesn't look like it was designed for a Rambo movie. sigh

Well, my omelet is eaten. I put 4 eggs, some diced ham, and some shredded cheese into the blender, and whirled it up, with a touch of baking powder. It rose up real nice in the pan, but was still a little gooey in the middle when I folded it over. Half a minute in the microwave fixed that. Texture was like a cheesy pancake. Tasted OK, though. Next time? Sprinkle additives on top of half-cooked omelet before folding over.

I read that Apple AirTags fit into this category. When I bought the batteries Amazon recommended for AirTags ( uncoated, but still requiring Herculean strength and a sharp object to liberate from packaging ) , they seemed to work OK in AirTags.

Cheap pliers (channelocks or 4" vice grips if you please) and box knives. The pliers keeps your hand out of the way and holds the object steady.
Apply box knife.

Pliers, box knife and scissors can be purchased from Harbor Freight for less than $2 each.

54 FWP: Oldest was at her job and kid came in "with allergies." Just like 95% of the time, it was NOT allergies, but the spring cold and she brought it home. Feeling like I'm catching the edge of it today so I have little energy to cook (I did the youth group stuff, and now, well, it's a good thing there's some prepped stuff in my freezer). Here's hoping it stays on the edge and I fight it off.

Funny enough, kid stayed home the rest of the week after getting my oldest sick, so I guess his mom put two and two together...just 24 hours too late...

B.C., being more or less mountainous throughout, has many tiny towns or settlements in out of the way valleys that would be good hideouts during the Burning Times, though. One way in/one way out; defensible.

My EDC knife is a Benchmade Bugout. Understated, and in multiple colors, good steel, 3 1/4" blade, one-hand opening, and extremely light. They make a mini version at just under 3".

Not a dressy knife though, I'm kind of in the market for a dressy, wood handled, one-hand open folder of good quality that doesn't require applying for a mortgage.

Will cut plastic, metal, acrylic tile, etc. I have one somewhere, too. Basically a shear with two fixed blades, and a moving center blade, sharpened on both sides. So it cuts a clean kerf.

That plastic used on so many carded products is damned tough, though, meaning you have to use a lot of force to cut it. That's when accidents happen. @130 Waiting for WD-40 to work depends on a lot of factors. I recently sprayed bolts twice over about 45 minutes before removing them with a hex nut driver. I have had to spray lug nuts on a wheel multiple times and wait overnight to loosen the nuts. I don't know of a hard and fast rule. Spray, test and spray again until it loosens.

Remember when we had beater cars (or trucks) in our youth to make it to our first summer job, or mow lawns, etc.

The young people in my city do not appear to be able to afford cars on those types of jobs now. I see a lot of them in work clothes using electric bikes/scooters/etc.

Low up-front cost, no insurance, and great "MPG" certainly help out on their tight transportation budgets.

Before i sold my '54 3100 pickup, i'd spray a bolt and let it sit overnight, then spray it again before i tried to break it loose. If that didn't work, torch for a few minutes, spray it again while hot, let it sit for an hoir or so, the try again. No joy? It cannot stay siezed if it's melted.

Depends upon how tightly the part is seized. If you heat to it, and burn the penetrating oil off, you need to reapply. Hopefully, that heat has opened up some porosity in the rust bond, and allowed the oil to penetrate. Repeated heat/cool cycles, with or without added penetrant, work wonders.

I bought a Kabar rigging knife at the PX when I was in CG Basic training. Never really used it as I was in engineering and not a deck ape. Still have it.

150 I find it interesting that fuel prices vary so much around the country. Tax differences account for much of that, transportation costs, of course. But I suspect that the sellers increase things to what the local market can bear. Prices at resort communities always seem higher.

I think Healey is in one of the Peoples' Republics of the Pacific Coast, where idiot Dem state governments have vastly increased the gas taxes. He is blaming on Trump what is mostly caused by his governor and legislature. Based on my recent trip up through that area, gas is a buck a gallon or more higher than in sane States.
