The Classical Saturday Morning Coffee Break & Prayer Revival-Happy Easter Edition

4426coffee.jpg

[You mean it's not an all day beverage?]

*****

Good morning boys and girls and everything in between. Before we enter the Prayer Revival just a few house keeping matters to go over. (Rulz for those of you in De Pere.)

1) This is an open thread. Feel free to lurk, opine and/or bloviate.
2) Be kind. Be nice. And for heaven's sake no egg fights later today.
3) Running with sharp objects and juggling with filet knives is really, really frowned upon.
4) Have a great weekend. He is Risen!

AoSHQ Weekly Prayer List

Please submit any prayer requests to me, “Annie’s Stew” at apaslo at-sign hotmail dot com. Prayer requests are generally removed after four weeks unless we receive an update.

Prayer Requests:

2/14 – L gave an update on her brother Ron. He has been in declining health for the last 6+ months, and has been transferred to a nice facility for hospice. They had been discussing this possibility for months. He would make improvements, then relapse, each time ending up more disabled. The best part is that he is at peace with the decision. He is aware enough to assist with the final plans and is enjoying parceling out his remaining possessions to family and friends. L’s daughter’s cardiac recovery continues. L says she cannot thank all sufficiently for the many prayers.
3/21 Update – Ron’s struggle is over. He died on 3/9. His 65th birthday would have been 3/22. His funeral was well attended and many people described him as their “best friend”. Despite never being married of having children, he leaves a legacy to be proud of. L’s daughter has finally recovered enough to start cardiac rehab. They expect great progress. L and her husband are rebuilding their relationship after putting it on the back burner for far too long, and working to get healthier. Thanks to everyone who prayed. It has meant a lot.

3/5 – IrishEi has learned that she needs major surgery on 3/16, and she would really appreciate prayers.
3/22 Update – JackStraw asked for prayers for IrishEi. She has been in the hospital for nearly a week. It sounds like she is on the mend, hopefully.
3/28 Update - Bluebell was happy to report that IrishEi is home from the hospital and is doing well. She’s very grateful for all the prayers as she knows they helped.

3/7 – Uncle Slayton posted the good news that his son-in-law, Kenny, is almost 3 years cancer-free. He beat lymphoma and leukemia, and Uncle Slayton wanted to thank everyone who prayed for him.

3/7 – Joe Kidd sent an update on a previous prayer, for a young girl named Jasmine. She is the adopted daughter of a friend of a friend. She had been rescued from abuse, but was withdrawn, etc. The friend took the family on an RV trip, and with lots of TLC for Jasmine, things have improved. It appears that God has surrounded this young girl with an army of angels, and your prayers for her are being heard. May those listed here and whispered elsewhere receive similar affirmation.

3/7 – vmom deport deport deport requested prayers for GB, the husband of her friend; he just had a quadruple bypass a couple of days ago, following a heart attack.

3/10 – Warai-otoko asked for prayers for a sister-in-law with some respiratory issues, who just took a hard turn for the worse. Thanks to everyone, even if you just take a fraction of a second for it.

3/10 – Update on Susan, who we have been praying for as she battles cancer. She is hospitalized again with an infection in her colon that quickly turned bad. The doctor says the signs are sepsis but they are running tests to make sure. The good news is that the pancreatic cancer was and is responding to the chemo and her cancer numbers are going down. God bless and thank you!
3/23 Update – Susan finally was able to come home. She is doing better than expected. Thanks to everyone for your prayers.

3/11 – Bulg sends a prayer of thanks. He called his formerly estranged sister on her birthday, and they had a wonderful conversation. It was their second conversation since February, and there was no animosity at all.

3/11 – Doof sent his appreciation for the Horde’s prayers for his mom, who has been in post-hospitalization rehab since mid-January. She has recovered from her illnesses, but her body seems to be increasingly giving up on her. PT has become too painful and exhausting for her. She is also having increased brain fog and is rapidly losing the ability to do things like answer her phone or send texts. Continued prayers requested for her, as she is very sad, and also for Doof and his sister as they figure out what’s next.
3/16 Update – Doof’s mother is not doing very well. Her 100 days of post-hospital rehab will be ending soon, and she is not nearly recovered enough to live alone. She’s almost completely confined to bed. She will be moved to long-term care soon, and will likely be there for the rest of her life. They appreciate the prayers.

3/14 – Retired Buckeye Cop asks for prayers for Mrs. Cop’s cousin, “A.B”. He has been diagnosed with cirrhosis of the liver. He is a retired police officer who was hit by a car years ago. He attempted to deal with the pain by self-medicating with too much Tylenol, which ended up poisoning his liver. His only alternative is a liver transplant, but he is uncertain if he wants to have surgery.
3/21 Update – A.B.’s situation isn’t quite as dire as originally thought. It’s still bad, but his readings are better than originally thought.

3/18 – TecumsehTea requests prayers, as her husband was fired from a job he enjoyed very much on 3/17. Prayers are needed for peace, direction, and clarity. They trust God will provide the right job at the right time, and that He would give them peace in the waiting. TecumsehTea is still dealing with the effects of her heart attack last July. Prayers for healing, as her BP continues to be unstable. Chronic Lyme disease and autoimmune disease complicates everything. She trusts that God is faithful and good and He will take care of their needs.

3/21 – FenelonSpoke asked for prayers for her son, who is still looking for work. He has a horticulture major, and would ideally like something related to research, but he is certainly willing to labor outdoors.

3/21 – Count de Monet gave prayers of thanks for a son who has been accepted into the IBEW Apprenticeship program. He will earn while he learns for 4 years on his way to becoming a Journeyman Electrician.

3/21 – pookysgirl asked for prayers as they start IVF again.

3/22 – Retired Buckeye Cop has a happy prayer request. His 16 year old grandson said he is feeling a call to the priesthood within the Catholic Church. He is a devout young man who has particular compassion for the poor. (He thinks he might want to be a Franciscan friar.) Please pray for L. H. as he pursues the vocation of religious life.

3/24 – GMAC posted that he has received his death sentence. His prostate cancer has metastasized into his bones. Medication will slow it down, but there is no stopping it. He doesn’t know how much time he has, but plans to do some travelling while he can. He sends his compliments to “the wittiest group of morons” he has ever had the pleasure of reading. He will still be lurking.

3/28 – Cosda posted the happy news that a new grandson should be arriving on 3/28.

3/28 – Defenestratus asked for prayers for grief at the loss of a dear friend and boss of 20 years, who passed away unexpectedly on St. Patrick’s Day.

3/28 – San Franpsycho posted that Pnina bat Surel is not improving, sadly. She has had a third hospitalization, and this has taken a toll on her. She is not bouncing back like she has before.

3/28 – From about The Time posted that prayers would be appreciated after the last chemo treatment for Lymphoma. It went reasonably well - thanks for the prayers.

3/28 – Hrothgar asked for prayers for a dear and long time close friend and former neighbor, Daniel, who is scheduled for open heart surgery in mid-April. Prayers for his wife would be appreciated as well, as she will be carrying a heavy load for the next few months.

3/28 – NR Pax posted an update on his father, who we had prayed for in January after his stroke. Dad is going through PT and OT every day at home. Mom got some cooperative people at the VA and a note was put in his record that he was not to have any appointments more than fifteen miles from his house. Things are still rough as Mom is handling things like taxes, investment accounts, and the banking. And Dad’s condition is stable, but it will change sooner or later. But they are living in a great retirement community and he’ll be taken care of.

3/28 – Jordan61 posted that Mr. Jordan61 is back in the hospital. His sepsis has returned and gotten into where his compression fracture is, and he has vertebral osteomyelitis. The doctor is supposed to come in today and let them know the plan.

For submission guidelines and other relevant info, please contact Annie's Stew, who is managing the prayer list. You can contact her at apaslo at-sign hotmail dot com. If you see a prayer request posted in a thread comment, feel free to copy and paste it and e-mail it to Annie's Stew. She tries to keep up with the requests in the threads, but she's not here all of the time, so she may not see it unless you e-mail it to her. Please note: Prayer requests are generally removed after four weeks or so unless we receive an update.

All conditions will be challenged. The enemy gets a vote. The notion that we would lose no aircraft to enemy action is absurd. Iran had decades to prepare with the best systems Russia and China could provide, with on-site training and we still rule the skies.

33 Our family will be going to Mass tomorrow morning, but I'm sure the Vigil Mass tonight will be something else. More than 50 men, women and children will enter the church. At the Good Friday service yesterday, I saw that they had already prepared the baptismal fount, which has three gates but normally only one is used, but now all three will have to be employed. Absolutely wonderful.

And we're not done! The January intake for OCIA is already pretty big, and in September I intend to become a sponsor. I did it in 2016 and really enjoyed it, but I had to promise not to do it until the kids were grown and I was out of the Guard. The grandkids forced a delay, but now I think I shall do it again.

I haven't been paying attention, but I did see that when the operation started the Iranians blocked *their own* runways to forestall commando raids and prevent their leaders from "getting Maduro'd." They've disabled their own air bases. Sure, they're totally winning.

Posted by: Ace-Endorsed Author A.H. Lloyd at April 04, 2026 08:24 AM (ZOv7s)

39 For perspective, the United States military lost in Vietnam almost 10,000 aircraft (3,744 planes, 5,607 helicopters and about 1,000 UAVs). Out of 5.25 million sorties in the war.

Our very low loss rate in Iran is a testament to our prowess in the air, and well-maintained aircraft.

We've lost 16 UAVs, 5 fighters, one KC-135. 22 total.
Well, and some ground losses. The E-3 Sentry was the one that hurt. Don't have a lot of them.

I did SERE in Warner Springs, CA in February, 1985. The desert mountain terrain where we did the evasion portion of the training offered select places to conceal oneself to avoid being "captured" by the pretend bad guys. In Iran, I'm guessing that isn't the case. Hopefully, he was taken in by friendly locals and is being hidden. That might be a pipe dream, though.

43 Something that has bothered me is that false belief that "Just War" cannot include offensive action or taking the initiative. It leads to the lie that giving the enemy a free strike is somehow morally desirable and virtuous. This is a lie.

Statemen are required to use foresight and reason to guide their decisions and so all that they can to protect their people and their national interests. Allowing a first strike is an absolute betrayal of the trust and power given to them.

44 William Jacobson on Justice Action Jackson:

And this is what we are seeing in multiple cases, not in all cases. I’d say in most cases they probably vote the same way. But there have been several cases where Ketanji Brown Jackson is just way out on a limb and actually very derisive of her colleagues. She called the majority in her dissent, in this case, she called the majority decision unprincipled.

She’s very vicious in the way she attacks her colleagues on the court, which is not the way it normally goes. Normally there’s a sense of collegiality, but she goes right after them. And we’ve seen that time and again in very demeaning terms, calling the majority unprincipled, and essentially saying, because you don’t agree with my viewpoint on conversion or on gender identity, you are unprincipled.

And it’s really terrible what she’s doing. She’s, I saw somebody refer to it on Twitter, so it’s not my original idea. But basically what she’s done is she has turned her dissenting opinions into the equivalent of blog posts, it’s that opinionated and attacking people. And in you would expect a lot of what she says to appear on TikTok or X or Instagram. It’s really embarrassing.

46 Morning.
Prayers up for all asking and those needing but not asking.
My wifes dad passed away yesterday. After a 50 years battle with Hep C he fell and broke his neck. Lasted about a month after that in and out of induced comas and now the pain is over.
Quite the character he was. Deeply flawed individual but my wife loved him and that's enough for me. We had our issues over the years but he will be missed.
So I lost my dad on Holy Saturday (years ago) and my wife lost her dad on Good Friday.

53 The Munich Crisis gets brought up a bunch, both because it involves Bad Mustache Man and because every analogy is Just Like World War Two. What frustrates me is that 99% of the time they get it wrong. They have no idea what happened or why, and this provides a perfect example of when conflict was avoided and a worse one resulted.

For those that don't know, the strategic reality was that Germany was rearming, but years away from being able to prosecute a war. France had a commanding superiority in ground forces, and Britain ruled the seas. Their air power was inadequate, but Germany's was far from mature.

Had war resulted, the Wehrmacht would have had its hands full fighting the Czechs, who were dug in, well armed and ready for them in tough terrain, leaving France free to roll in on them.

The problem was that Neville Chamberlain abhorred war, and desperately wanted to avoid it, and so he was willing to do anything to avoid it, and completely misjudged Hitler's intention. France was reluctant, but willing to fight, and needed Britain to back her up, but that didn't happen. (cont)

55 The five checkboxes for a Just War. The first 3 are from St. Augustine. Two were added by St. Thomas Aquinas

1. Right/Proper intent
2. Right Authority (The mayor of El Paso cannot declare war on Juarez)
3. Just cause
4. Last resort after diplomacy fails
5. Probability of success.

By my reckoning, all five boxes are checked.

63 (cont) Now much of that is known, and how Chamberlain had "peace in our time" and then six months later Hitler just rolled in, and now made new demands. Stalin saw which was the wind was blowing and switched sides, sucking up to Hitler.

But what is rarely, if ever, brought up is how Germany's military situation was radically transformed. One of the arguments against conflict was that the RAF and the British Army were in terrible shape, and needed time to rearm. The longer the delay, it was argued, the more Spitfires and Hurricanes would be available. All well and good.

BUT! When Germany got Czechoslovakia, it also got its peerless arms industry and a rich haul of weapons, including advanced T-35 and especially T-38 tanks, without which, the Blitzkriegs of 1939 and 1940 would have been impossible. Millions of rifles, artillery, ammunition - all of that was rocket fuel to rearmament. Germany was critically short and would take years to build up wartime levels of those, but now they were there.

That was the opportunity lost that everyone misses, and that's what so many religious leaders do not realize. (cont)

65 (cont) Marco Rubio did a great job laying it all out. The missiles were there to shield the nukes, and once the nukes were finished, the world would be held hostage. And because the Iranian leadership is a bunch of millenarian nutjobs, they probably would have launched on us. At that point, we would have retaliated. We would have had to. The escalation ladder applies to both sides. Right now, maybe 5,000 people have died, but a nuclear exchange - and the resulting damage - could kill hundreds of millions.

67 I think there's a consensus building that in Iran the only remaining fighting force is the IRGC. The "regular" Iranian army, navy and air force are gone. But the IRGC remains. In pockets.

Personally I think we're at the "whack-a-mole" phase with them. And they're still in control of a dwindling stockpile of drones, rockets and ballistic missiles. The UAE issues daily "counts" of intercepted drones and missiles. Just yesterday the counts were still double digits.

68 Morning again, caffeinators,

I've done up my coffee for the morning -- Cafe El Morro from Aldi, if it matters -- had breakfast, shaved, and am about to run out to get all my hairs cut.

Speaking of the shave: I discovered that the Japanese Feather blade, considered one of the sharpest in the double-edge world, is a bit too aggressive to use in my Italian Fatip slant razor. At least with a one-day beard. A couple of tiny nicks resulted on my lower lip. So I moved the fresh blade to a much less aggressive razor, and changed the slant's blade to a sharp but not Feather-sharp Rapira.

The furry thugs are doing well. Stirling woke me, but only about ten minutes ahead of my alarm. They are taking to the new Fresh Pine litter material, too.

It’s a daily occurrence for critics to say this war was “unnecessary” and that Iran would have stayed quiet. But the vast number of missiles they had stockpiled - which I suspect exceeded even our best military assessments, not just the publicly available estimates - is evidence that Iran had been planning a massive regional war for decades.

They truly were planning to dominate the entire region, and by control of a vital resource, force the entire world to bow to them and acknowledge their dominance. Either that or blow up that part of the world trying.

Excellent summation of the run up to WWII. Thank you.

We can disagree a tad. I still think the key to winning was the delay needed for Dowding to get the radar stations and ground control links operational.

Could the Germans have taken France without the T-38s? Maybe, as France had incredible command and morale problems. The Czechoslovakian defenses were quite robust, but leaving that nation neutral would work, IMHO.
This would have been a brake on German intentions to attack Russia, which is what, with the DOW on the US, doomed the Germans.

92 To add another topic to the discussion, there's new avenue to discredit the Shroud of Turin: the Indians (dot, not feather) somehow duped the stupid Christians. Just another tired attack right before Easter.

Apparently the old "ohmahgerd, it's a Medieval forgery" has gone by the wayside. I guess it's become too hard to wave-away the pollen of plants common to ancient Judea impregnated upon the fabric. (The carbon dating has been completely discredited).

The details that you can see of the photographic negative would not have been obvious to viewers in earlier times: distinct scourge marks showing the impact of the weights on the ends of the lashes, different directionality of the marks, swollen right cheek, broken nose, nail marks in the wrists (not palms), blood deposited on the fabric before the image. PLUS, 3-D data that can be reconstructed via computer.

The skeptics have never been able to duplicate it. The image is oxidation a few fibers deep -- not paint, dye, stain, etc. If the image is not Jesus, it sure matches the abuses He suffered during His sorrowful Passion.

In his speech the other night he pretty much literally said it’ll be over in “two weeks”… not good. Now an airman is missing…. We were never gonna put “boots on the ground” (at least I hope not) so do all you can with air power then declare victory. At some point this becomes a loser politically and like it or not the American voter is fickle and Trump has to make progress in his domestic agenda because the Dems are lunatics. All to say: He needs to wrap it up… delaying their weapons programs by at least 10 years is good; not as good as total destruction but sometimes reality intrudes and you take what you can get.

The Germans had several "Light" divisions (a hybrid mech/motorized organization -- neither fish nor fowl) because they didn't have enough tanks and trucks, when they invaded France.

Even during the Blitz, the Germans had to do an operational pause -- which allowed the Brits to disengage and retreat to Dunkirk (the Germans were astounded at the level of motorization available to the Brits).

There’s a fascinating speculation as to the provenance of the shroud over the centuries; how did it turn up in rural France suddenly? The timeline starts with Helen, the mother of Constantine the Great, who financed a great expedition to the Holy Land in the 300’s in order to collect every Holy artifact that could be found.

Now many of these were placed in cathedrals for the adoring public to view, but it’s long been thought that the most Holy artifacts were kept private, reserved only for the eyes of the Imperial Familly and the highest levels of the Church hierarchy. There are consistent rumors of some strange cloth with an image of it that was rarely shown on High Holy festivals. (Cont’d)

One of the subtleties of a founding document that old, is it was based on two erroneous (but quite reasonable for the time) concepts:

When the Constitution was written, people didn't live as long, and so wouldn't be on SCOTUS as long as the current barnacles. They'd either die, or become too feeble to carry out the duties, and so retire.

141 There are consistent rumors of some strange cloth with an image of it that was rarely shown on High Holy festivals. (Cont’d)
Posted by: Tom Servo at April 04, 2026 09:17 AM (pFJNq)

Yes, I can't recall the name of the cloth, but the Eastern Orthodox had some sort of image of Jesus Christ's face on a cloth. They had it for centuries.

There's been conjecture that the Crusaders pilfered that image from the Byzantine Empire when they sacked Constantinople.

There is a very curious fold mark, or crease, across the neck of the Man in the Shroud. The Catholic Church regards the Shroud of Turin as a private revelation, not a matter of dogma.

The Man in the Shroud just happens to display all of the injuries (in a very realistic way) consistent with the Biblical descriptions of Jesus Christ's Passion. I choose to believe that the Shroud of Turin is His burial shroud.

149 Possible provenance of the shroud continued: so the shroud may have been safely stored and guarded in Constantinople until 1204, when the wickedly perverse 4th Crusade ended up sacking and burning Constantinople, and not attacking any Muslims at all. The great city was looted of all of its treasures, with much going back to Venice. Everyone who was present got something though, including the Knights Templar, the most secretive of orders.

For the next century, they grew more and more powerful, while critics of theirs claimed that they privately worshipped some strange image on a cloth that they jealously guarded from the eyes of any outsiders. Using this and other claims of heresy, in 1312 Philip of France attacked the order, brutally killing their top leadership and attempting to seize all of their wealth. However, except for the very top levels, most of the Templars and most of their wealth simply disappeared. No one can say where they went to, they were very good - perhaps equivalent to the KGB of their day. (End part two)

The swelling numbers of converts to the Catholic Church just demonstrates how much people are tired of the empty promises of an Earthly "utopia" (which just happens to be Hell-on-Earth, instead).

King Charles III intentional ignoring Easter, but praising Ramadan, isn't going to have the effect he thinks: as the Head of the Church of England, he just gave the green-light for devout CofE Christians to abandon ship and swim the Tiber.

Paris (France) (AFP) – Iranian authorities Thursday executed a teenager convicted over January protests after a fast-track trial rights groups labelled as "grossly unfair", as the Islamic republic ramps up executions during the war with the US and Israel.

Al Jazerra, April 4th, 'Iran has executed two men convicted of being members of the banned People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) opposition group, in the latest action targeting dissidents, even as the United States-Israeli war on Iran drags on.'

The two were executed on Saturday morning after the country’s Supreme Court upheld earlier sentences that convicted them of PMOI/MEK membership, and “armed rebellion through involvement in multiple terrorist acts”.

But what of the shroud? It suddenly appears, apparently out of nowhere in the small town of Lirey, France, part of the inheritance of the local Lord Geoffrey de Charney, who had said nothing of it during his life. Its public history pops into existence at that moment.

Did he have a connection to the Templars? An earlier relative of his with the same name was the Head of the Templars in Normandy, and one of the top leaders burned at the stake by Philip of France.

DOJ needs a non-lawyer head. Because all lawyers, no matter their politics, are way too enamored with the rules and the majesty of the "system."

Prayers up for those who pray alone, asking for help in silence, and whose prayers are known but to God!

Prayers up even for all "our" politicians who have decided that their 10% graft and power are still far more desirable than their honor or integrity, may they see the error of their ways, repent, and become true representatives of we the people!

And lastly, prayers up for President Trump, keep him and our beloved country safe from harm and may the many forces of corruption and evil arrayed against both him and our country be rendered ineffective and their plans come to naught!

Childish bowdlerization by our beneficent Tech Lords. These platforms all nuke anything containing words like "suicide, kill, rape," and so on.

So people have to come up with these puerile euphemism to get past the robo-censors.

"Unalive" has been in use for years now - so the censors could definitely ban that, too, but choose not to - because the exercise is purely about training people to comply with approved speech codes.

What the leaders fail to understand is that there was no actual peace. Iran remained in a state of war with the United States for 47. The war went through long dormant phases, but never ceased.

There are Catholics who understand this distinction, and also that being an unlawful regime, Iran's theocracy did not obtain the same benefits as a lawful government.

More disturbing is the tolerance - which is new - for evil governments. The Vatican's deal with the PRC is one of the most shameful acts in Church history. That they are now saying Americans should "negotiate" with dishonest people whose hands are still wet with human blood is a scandal.

It is my fervent hope that God will see the right through, and that these same people be confronted with the reality of a liberated Iran, and be forced to apologize to the people whose freedom they so stridently opposed.

Moses appointed Joshua to lead the Israelites into the Promised Land, as Moses himself was forbidden from entering.
Originally named Hoshea, he was renamed Joshua (Yehoshua) by Moses.

He commanded the army to conquer Canaan and split the Jordan River through divine power, and recognized as a prophet in both biblical and Jewish traditions.

238 No, Anti-Aircraft Artillery (AAA or Triple-A) is generally not considered small arms fire.

While they are both types of ground-based fire, they are distinguished by their purpose, caliber, and intended targets.

Small Arms Fire: Refers to weapons designed for personal use, such as rifles, pistols, carbines, and machine guns, typically with a caliber of 15mm (.60 caliber) or less.

AAA (Anti-Aircraft Artillery): Refers to dedicated, often crew-served, guns designed to destroy aircraft. These typically use autocannons (like 20mm, 23mm, 30mm, 35mm, or 40mm) or larger-caliber artillery pieces (like 88mm or 100mm).

Recent comment on some Twitter was that Iran was seeking the "North Korean Path to Nukes" by developing its missile and drone force to the point that they could hold the Middle East and Europe hostage while they finished their nukes, the way that North Korea had Seoul within artillery range so they couldn't be pushed at all while they developed their nukes, way up in the North.
That with the revelation that the Iranians walked into a negotiating session and said they had 60% refined Uranium ready to go, and were ready to go with it was enough for Trump to give up negotiating and start waling on them instead.
The Iranians could have cobbled together a dirty nuke on that intermediate missile they lobbed at Diego Garcia, and they could have hit Tel Aviv or Paris.

246 This talk of just war reminded me of the remarkable Takashi Nagai, and Japanese convert to Catholicism who survived the bombing of Nagasaki. In 2021 he and his wife were declared Servants of God. Here was his take on the A-bomb:

“It was not the American crew, I believe, who chose our suburb. God’s providence chose Urakami and carried the bomb right above our homes. Is there not a profound relationship between the annihilation of Nagasaki and the end of the war? Was not Nagasaki the chosen victim, the lamb without blemish, slain as a whole-burnt offering on an altar of sacrifice, atoning for the sins of all the nations during World War II?

"Only this holocaust in Nagasaki sufficed and at that moment God inspired the Emperor to issue the sacred proclamation that ended the war. The Christian flock of Nagasaki was true to the faith through three centuries of persecution. During the recent war it prayed ceaselessly for a lasting peace. Here was the one pure lamb that had to be sacrificed as a holocaust on His altar ...so that many millions of lives might be saved."

Those of the physical line of Abraham, Iaasac and Jacob, before our Lord's sacrifice, obtained salvation in the same way as we do today.
Through faith. See Hebrews chapter 11.
Before Christ it was true faith in God and the sacrificial system He provided.
That system went away when the Only Begotten Son of the Father became the once and for all sacrifice for our sins and it is now through faith in that sacrifice, faith that is a gift from God, not something we earned, that is the only way to eternal life with God, our Lord a n Saviour.

Right, which I why your comment about our aircraft being downed by ground fire had me scratching my head.

Latest DoD definition I could find:

ground fire — Small arms ground-to-air fire directed against aircraft.

Again, small arms.

I'm quite certain neither the F-15 nor the A-10 was brought down by small arms.

Mechanical? AAA? SAM? Possibly. Not small arms, though.

I assume all of our aircraft that can accomplish mission without gong below ground-fire altitude, are ordered to stay above that altitude until near the landing field. However at this point USAF may be sending fast-movers low-low to accomplish mission. My guess is the Iranians saw a pattern in USAF aircraft going from-to bases in Kuwait. Then set an ambush. Many shoulder-fired heat seeking missiles launched simultaneously, or placed AA radars and missiles in a location that is somewhat shielded from airborne jamming. Perhaps a narrow canyon along a too-often used USAF aircraft flight corridor. Or ???

I'm probably wrong. Armchair generalship is too easy to do.

“In their shoes” - reminds me of the phrase, it’s much easier for a civilized man to act like a barbarian, than for a barbarian to act like a civilized man.

The Iraqi militias are being offered the chance to shoot unarmed men and rape women and children with the government’s blessing. That’s like catnip to a cat, a case full of MD 20/20 to a wino. There’s no way they won’t jump on that, no matter the long term consequences. Doing this type of thing is the one true goal of their lives.

(I hope, when this is over, that the Persian people brutally execute every Arabic speaker they can catch inside their country)

One of my grandfathers left behind a pretty young wife and nice business in Pittsburgh to go get burned badly fighting the Germans in North Africa. The other's last tour was also against the Germans in North Africa, though he was older - the US Army was his last of three armies he'd served in since the age of *12* (Imperial Russia, Britain, then us).

Those were real tough guys playing their roles with no script, and I can't blame the veterans in H'wood back then for giving him a hard time for his draft deferment.

EMPLOYEE NOTICE

Due to the current financial situation caused by the fuel crisis and the slowdown in the economy, the Government has decided to implement a scheme to put workers of 50 years of age and above on early, mandatory retirement, thus creating jobs and reducing unemployment.

This scheme will be known as RAPE (Retire Aged People Early).

Persons selected to be RAPED can apply to the Government to be considered for the SHAFT program (Special Help After Forced Termination).

Persons who have been RAPED and SHAFTED will be reviewed under the SCREW program (System Covering Retired-Early Workers).

A person may be RAPED once, SHAFTED twice and SCREWED as many times as the Government deems appropriate.

Persons who have been RAPED could get AIDS (Additional Income for Dependents & Spouse) or HERPES (Half Earnings for Retired Personnel Early Severance).

Persons who are not RAPED and are staying on will receive as much SHIT (Special High Intensity Training) as possible. The Government has always prided themselves on the amount of SHIT they giv

🚨 HOLY CRAP! Sec. Marco Rubio just CANCELED the legal status of slain Iranian Major General Qasem Soleimani's family members living in the US

They're now in ICE custody, pending DEPORTATION. 🔥

Long overdue, thank you Marco! 🇺🇸

RUBIO: "Until recently, Hamideh Soleimani Afshar and her daughter were green card holders living in lavishly in the United States.

Afshar is the niece of deceased Iranian Major General Qasem Soleimani. She is also an outspoken supporter of the Iranian regime who celebrated attacks on Americans and referred to our country as the "Great Satan."

This week, I terminated both Afshar and her daughter's legal status and they are now in ICE custody, pending removal from the United States.

The Trump Administration will not allow our country to become a home for foreign nationals who support anti-American terrorist regimes." 🔥

BM Threat - Policy & Procedure

When receiving a phoned BM threat, ask the caller:

-where is the BM located?
-when will the BM go off?
-is there more than one BM?
-how explosive is the BM?
-are you part of a political movement?

While keeping the caller on the line, have a co-worker evacuate the NBN and call for the BM Sniffing K9 team and a BM Disposal Unit.

365 343 Whatever brought down the F-15E over NW Iran just means there's still a ground threat that needs to be eliminated. The IRGC is, and will continue to be a thorn in our side unless they're eliminated too.

Most, if not all, of the rockets, drones and ballistic missiles still being fired by Iran are likely under IRGC control. No idea how deep their stockpiles are, but the UAE recorded double digit numbers lobbed their direction yesterday.

Posted by: Martini Farmer at April 04, 2026 11:00 AM (AkEZC)

I bet the IRGC Navy also has a shit-ton of ground-launched anti-ship missiles still ready to go. Some have been destroyed but I expect a lot have survived the air attacks. This is the major threat to warships and commercial shipping near the Iranian coast and in the Strait. This is why I'm not betting on a Marine amphibious assault on an IRGC- defended location. Unless nothing else will send the IRGC into collapse. The Marines and paratroops staged-in so far and still coming may be planned for use as stiffeners for anti-IRGC forces that are making headway or need help, or for mop-up seize-and-hold missions. Again, pure armchair generalship by me.

366 Wut? We gave this cunt a green card? If she was a defector, I'd get it. Or maybe a rocket scientist who renounced her regime past, at least.

That path is over in about 1/3 of the circuits. 5th, 7th, 8th. There is a reason that administration is shipping ICE detainees to Texas and Louisiana. That circuit is not amused by district court judges running amuck.

The only reason blue states have asshole district court judges and limp wristed federal DA's is the insane blue slip policy that Grassley continues.

Democrat senators then block any GOP district court judge or DA without forcing the president to fill a vacancy with a judge or attorney of their choice.

Blue areas will continue to suffer from illegals and asshole foreigners as a result.

🚨 JUST IN: Sen. Mike Lee says the SAVE America Act WILL PASS if Leader Thune forces floor debate again

"This is why I maintain we need to get back onto the SAVE America Act as soon as possible!" 🔥

"If we debate this thing, it will continue to become more popular, and it will pass as long as we just make sure that we keep debate open and aggressive until we are ready to bring it to a vote and win."

"We could bring an end to what I call the zombie filibuster, which is the filibuster but without the speaking! Filibustering is about speaking, and the way we do it these days, it's not only a silent filibuster. It's as though it's coming from the world of the undead!"

"These are speeches that are never given. Instead, it becomes a de facto 60-vote passage threshold, which it is not."

"We debate that. 85% of Americans want this, even among Democrats. The only place where it's unpopular among Democrats is in Congress, literally."

I feel your pain. After my dad died I decided dropped DirectTV, owned by ATT. The account was still in my mom's name, she had died 12 years previously, I had to take a copy of her death certificate to a main ATT store physical location, so they could call the ATT billing people and actually get them to cancel the account. Sounds like Verizon may be even worse to deal with.

My electric bill is still in my dad's name. I had switched to autopay from my checking account a couple years before he died. Periodically I think "I should get them to put my name on this account" but since the bill is paid and I have electricty it is not urgent and I never get around to doing it.

You seen them spout pseudo Marxist twaddle like we must make conditions horrible by wrecking the present for the new world to emerge.

Not much different than the insane Twelver belief of Shi'as, The truth is historically most Revolutions and civil wars for secession fail and the cost is a lot of blood.
