Open source software is protected by copyright law, and that depends on the exact expression of the code. It's easy for an AI to make sufficient changes to dodge copyright law while keeping functionality intact.

Or mostly intact. In my experience even performing straightforward changes like that you still end up with some breakage.

Panic buying before the worst of the price increases hit looks like it was a good move. I have enough memory and storage to keep going for years.
On the other hand, if you're in the market for a new mid-range graphics card, look out for discounted 16GB XFX Radeon 9060 XTs. I bought one early this year as part of my panic attack, and they have very much bucked the trend by cutting the price by 20% since then.

That's in Australia but the price here would be equivalent to $310, against an MSRP of $350.

I was in a class where it was required to write papers by hand. I typed about a bazillion words a minute, and for pay, and I asked to be able to type my papers. I was told no; because when people typed and made typos, they blamed the typos on the typing and on the typewriter. And I said: how about if I take responsibility for any typos. And I was given an exception! This was An Important Life Lesson.

33 Looks like the replacement Kwikset smart lock arrives today.

On the downside, the 2006 Volvo V70 replacement turbo appears to have developed a good size shaft oil seal leak into the airside housing.

And a need for a replacement for the replacement passenger side axle.

Both repairs would be under warranty but replacing the turbo is a royal pain.

Would rather replace Kwikset locks.

I watch older kids shows since no messaging, and funny. There was one episode of a show where two identical twins went into their genius friends' lab, screwed around and switched bodies.

86 Errands today: wash and spray-wax the car and put dressing on the tires. (The new Continentals, in front, make the Buick drive incredibly well even over somewhat rough pavement. We went out for ie cream last night just so that I could drive it some more.) And I need to mail my estimated Q1 fed tax payment, and ship off my state taxes for my refund.

Tomorrow is the horror of that woke Korean professor spouting communist babble at my old employer, though I will get a free lunch out of it.
