That's the idea. Do some big check outs and testing while in orbit. When they do the apogee raise, they get in a very high elliptical orbit with about a 1 day period. TLI to the Moon will be after that. Idea is to check everything out before they even attempt the TLI. My late older brother made the mylar canister that carried the flag to the moon on the Apollo 11 mission. He took the left over scrap material - cut it up and gave a piece of it to each of his siblings. It is my proudest possession: its like having a piece of material that Columbus' sail was made from. That Mylar canister can be seen lying on the surface of the moon in some of the photos that Armstrong took. I like the idea that there is some litter from my family on the moon. Orion is running N2/O2 mix, 70/30, IIRC. Pressure will vary from about 1 atm to 10 psi. Very different from Apollo. That's at least a day away. This is very different trajectory than Apollo. They're first using the ICPS to go to a high elliptical orbit with a period of about 24 hours. That will expend all the ICPS fuel. The Orion SM will have to do the final TLI burn to raise that to the Moon. Apollo TLI had a lot more wiggle room. This manuever is tightly constrained. 109 Trump should have called birthright citizenship a tax.
From what I have read, the Trump lawyer team did a horrible job of arguing their case. Their argument seems to consist of "well things are different now than when the amendment was written" which is true but irrelevant. Posted by: Christopher R Taylor at April 01, 2026 08:25 PM (El6/E) Especially as the guy who WROTE IT, stated it would not include foreign citizens. The Apollo 1 capsule had a low pressure pure O2 atmosphere. The deadly fire was partially the result of that O2 environment. The capsule atmosphere was changed after that disaster to reduce the fire hazard.

Apollo 1 was a Block 1 capsule.
Not only did it have a pure oxygen atmosphere it had a hatch that would take 90 seconds to undo from the outside. And since there was no fuel aboard the rocket, there were no emergency crews present during the test run. Posted by: Anna Puma at April 01, 2026 08:34 PM (2GVsD) 136
That's the idea. Do some big check outs and testing while in orbit. When they do the apogee raise, they get in a very high elliptical orbit with about a 1 day period. TLI to the Moon will be after that.

You can read the transcripts of the infamous floating turn episode on Apollo 10. The Apollo solid waste system consisted of a plastic bag you taped to your ass. And remember this is zero-g, no gravity to help pull things loose. They had to use their hands to help. And then they had to put some anti-bacterial stuff in there, and knead it all in good. He's not going to outright say it maybe because its too soon but I wouldnt be surprised if we annexed the entire strait and put it under american control theres a lot of pieces here that all point to asserting American hegemony over the global oil trade that will prop up the american dollar as nations panic and buy energy from the US, as well as give china and eurotrash the middle finger Im fine with that, do that and disband NATO, then tell russia end the war or we end it for you Id rather we be isolationist but that would mean having our thumb up our asses while china et al try to take over the world Posted by: The Unvaxed and Unmasked Ranger - Where Are My Keto Cheetos at April 01, 2026 09:26 PM (REq0p) 281

Common Tater: although all this is true, Mossedegh had dissolved the majles (=parliament) and was purging his military and courts, and banned opposition press. The Shi'a clergy, "hardline" or not, had reason to fear they would be next. So did the shah at the time (born "Khan", now "Pahlevi"), at that point the last constitutional bulwark.
Mossedegh if he'd been allowed to continue would have plunged his country into a civil war. The USSR to his north would not have ignored this; it wasn't exactly stable itself at the time, being contested by Malenkov and Khrushchev. Posted by: gKWVE at April 01, 2026 09:42 PM (gKWVE) 297

306 Why does the NASA mission camera footage look so shitty compared to what we have seen during the SpaceX missions?
Posted by: Chairman LMAO at April 01, 2026 09:48 PM (cWLG3) Agree. Missed the launch, watched replay. At lift off the camera showed engines firing, then cut to the rocket it was already gone haha. Posted by: Joemarine at April 01, 2026 09:53 PM (y171U) 312

Trump may leave a naval force in place, but the responsibility for keeping the gulf and the straits open will be for the gulf states. Oman and whoever wants to kick in some.

Posted by: Chairman LMAO at April 01, 2026 09:48 PM (cWLG3) I said the exact thing to the wife while we were watching. I said this camera work is shit compared to space X. She countered with "yeah and we can see inside the capsule with space X too". Posted by: Berserker-Dragonheads Division at April 01, 2026 09:55 PM (snZF9) 316

Looks like our courts are going to screw Americans over again. I'm about ready for a do over on what these courts can legally do. They are NOT there to MAKE LAWS.

If I were him, I would also avoid the paparazzi and other MSM coverage of every sneeze and bowel movement.
Posted by: tcn in AK at April 01, 2026 09:53 PM (DwqWV) He's the most famous athlete in the world but I agree that other countries suppress the 'press' much more than we do. But also hundreds of celebrities have done rehab here without any press. Admittedly I'm biased because I'm not a Tiger fan from the very start of his career. Who else of us youngsters watched Armstrong step off the lander, listening to those radio communications that had that light-speed delay, then step outside to look at the moon? Just because?

Dad was with the press so he got a close look. The rest of us were across the river. Posted by: SloPitch Whiffer at April 01, 2026 09:59 PM (NYInA) 322
