Saturday Night Club ONT - April 4, 2026 [D Squared]
Ingredients
1 1/2 oz. blanco tequila
1 oz. carrot juice
3/4 oz. light amber agave
1/2 oz. Amaro Nonino
1/2 oz. fresh lime juice
1/2 tsp. cayenne pepper
Ice
1 carrot, halved lengthwise, plus 5 carrot tops
Directions
Step 1 - In a cocktail shaker, combine tequila, carrot juice, agave, amaro, lime juice, and cayenne. Fill shaker with ice, cover, and vigorously shake until outside of shaker is very frosty, about 20 seconds.
Step 2 - Strain into a pebble ice-filled Collins glass. Garnish with carrot and carrot tops.

It's due to the escalating costs of permits and insurances that come with a giant skinny dip. The annual charity swim at Cobblers Beach in Middle Head has become a bucket-list experience for thousands of enthusiasts willing to step outside their comfort zone, all for a good cause. Founded in 2013 by well-known author and speaker Nigel Marsh, The Sydney Skinny quickly gained international attention. On previous years, participants gathered at secluded Cobblers Beach, a legally designated nudist beach within Sydney Harbour National Park, where they stripped down for the swim itself before being wrapped in the event's iconic sarongs on exit. The event was deliberately untimed and inclusive, with swimmers choosing either a 300-metre or 900-metre course. Over the past two years, proceeds have been donated to the Charlie Teo Foundation, supporting vital brain cancer research. Despite its popularity, organisers say rising costs and a growing list of permits, including National Parks, Harbour Trust, Maritime authorities and multiple insurances, have made it untenable.What kind of a world do we live in when costs for permits and insurance make it too expensive to swim naked?

I wasn't listening to the details the whole time, but apparently a waste water (urine) dump didn't do right somehow, so it's full or something.
If interested, search on the history of zero-g toilets. They first attempted this in Skylab, and the Shuttle and the ISS. And the Rooskies had their own designs. Toilets in zero-g are a real pain in the ass.
They also attempted a space shower on Skylab. They all decided that was far more trouble than it was worth, and haven't attempted another one since.

THere was a also a "burnt smell" coming from the Orion toilet at some point yesterday. Mission control was scratching their heads. They had them to do gas analysis near the thing to try to see just what it was emanating, but I don't know if that turned anything up.
They mentioned a "mild" such smell was noted during testing on the ground they found in the logs. That is still unresolved, but the think it's nothing to worry about, just something outgassing a bit.

I think I heard them mention during that camera test that they managed to get a shot of both Earth and Moon in frame at the same time.
Looking at the tracker, the angle between the two from Orion's viewpoint looks to be around 90 degrees, maybe a little less.

That according to two senior US officials and multiple well placed sources in the region. The Weapons Systems Officer ejected along with the pilot when their F15E Strike Eagle they were flying was struck Thursday night (early Friday local time) in southwest Iran.
The WSO used the SERE (Survival, Evasion, Resistance, and Escape) training to evade capture, hiding on an elevated ridge after hiking away from the wreckage and putting out an emergency beacon.) US Special Operations rescue forces to include PJs (United States Air Force Pararescuemen (PJs) and many layers of elite rescue forces took part in the complex, layered mission to both find the crew member and also keep the Iranian forces who were hunting the American weapons system operator at bay. There are videos that have appeared from local eyewitnesses that show what appear to have been injured and dead Iranian members of the IRGC and Basij who were looking for the downed American crew member.

Fox News can confirm the A10 Warthog that crashed Friday was involved in providing cover for the rescue teams searching for the pilot. That A10 crashed in Kuwait (first reported by ABC Friday) but the A10 pilot managed to eject safely and was rescued. There was destruction of aircraft which have sensitive equipment on board, I am told, all part of this complex CSAR (Combat Search and Rescue) mission.
The F15E was pretty much destroyed on impact. Two rescue helicopters were hit by enemy fire on Friday and crew members onboard were injured by enemy fire but managed to make it out of Iran.
There were a lot of elements to this rescue, I am told."

I wonder if coyotes were partially responsible for the disappearance of pheasants on the family farm here in N IL. I farmed from 1980-2012 and there were pheasants and no coyotes, or few, at the start and by the end it was reversed.
I always thought the state-introduced wild turkeys displaced the pheasants but maybe both were factors.

Hello! Latest scans looked the same, which we are counting as "good"; cancer marker numbers are back down in the normal range, so we will take it.
The next few weeks are chock full of activity/bucket list stuff, including three weekends without Mr. TiFW in tow. I am going to both Lubbock and NYC with a friend, and I will be venturing to Salt Lake City solo (should be interesting!).
I have a newer model of my old motorized scooter coming along for the ride, and right now I am trying to figure out how to attach my luggage to the scooter to get from place to place. So far, a big strap seems to be the best solution.
That, and batting my eyelashes and doing my best Blanche Dubois impression (us Southern gals learn REALLY early how to twang it up and turn on the charm 😂😂😂

On one of the internet archives they have a lot of old house plan books. The kitchen sink was common long before indoor WCs. Earlier 'indoor' WCs were separate rooms attached to the house but you had to go onto the porch and then back into the WC. Some houses had indoor baths before the WC was moved in.

But "escalation" is not exactly correct.
Iran has been hitting, or attempting to hit, every kind of economic and infrastructure target in the Gulf nearly since the start. Their crude systems can't penetrate Israeli defenses except on rare occasions and have mostly turned to cluster-bomblet payloads, need to be intercepted at higher altitudes but in any case are generally ineffective.
Oil and gas production and refining and transportation, desalination, etc have been targeted by Iran for weeks now. My glorious MSM blackout means I'm not sure, but I sense that this fact has not received much emphasis.
So if/when the US "escalates" in this fashion, it will be a response to something the Iranians started weeks ago. Which will be a typical false framework of the story.

THere was a also a "burnt smell" coming from the Orion toilet at some point yesterday. Mission control was scratching their heads. They had them to do gas analysis near the thing to try to see just what it was emanating, but I don't know if that turned anything up.
They mentioned a "mild" such smell was noted during testing on the ground they found in the logs. That is still unresolved, but the think it's nothing to worry about, just something outgassing a bit.

I got to noticing a high pitched whine come from something and I got a-skeered some piece of hardware here was failing. After carefully listening to the actual computer case, it didn't come from that. Then I narrowed it down to the monitor, or some of the shit behind hind. High pitched little whine from some power supply dinky coil. Tons of such shit in the power adapters for the network equipment.

They're having problems with the primary dump system apparently. It's too slow. Christina had to describe, in detail, what both the output from the primary and secondary venting nozzles looked like. The primary is "blowing chunks", she used some phrase similar to that.

Yeah the tires were too old. The bike is a 1997 and the tires are original. They got more dry rot than pelosi's face. I didn;t want to risk riding it. Back roads would have been ok, but the first 3/4 of the 50 mile ride was highway, and major truck route highway.

This was something interesting I did not know. The Artemis crew is going to be the first human eyes to ever see Mare Orientale in sunlight. Look up the details, but that's a very young impact feature that's barely, just barely visible peaking on the western limb of the Moon over the full libration cycle. It's at the extreme limits of that, so seeing it edge on from earth the most possible is rare thing over a 6, if not 18 year cycle.
Apollo did not see it in sunlight, because of the timing. Apollo 17 managed to get enough earthlight to get some dim images. Early orbiters did image it, but no human eyes have seen it in full on sunlight.
