At Battleswarm there is an interesting commentary about over investment in AI. That is building infrastructure for which there is no foreseeable economic return.
Build it and they will come. I suspect the infrastructure will not go unused. Posted by: Pete Bog at March 28, 2026 04:08 AM (eCt/m) 7
I only shouted in from the door, hopefully didn't catch anything

It looked too stupid to merit any engagement 30 or 40 minutes ago when I checked.

The cure for insomnia probably does not include reading and commenting on a little screen.
But I’m going to try it for an hour or so. Posted by: Pete Bog at March 28, 2026 04:21 AM (eCt/m) 12
Pete Bog, done renovating?

Is work slowing down generally in your area? Around here it seems there was a 3-4 month dry spell but from what I see that’s over. Everybody seems busy.

Hey Ben Had.
All but the landscaping which is underway full speed. It’s been such a mild winter around here that I’m expecting lots of snow in May. Posted by: Pete Bog at March 28, 2026 04:25 AM (eCt/m) 15

Posted by: Ben Had at March 28, 2026 04:35 AM (+nEug) I’m afraid our summer is going to be a lot of that as well. Finding water and grass here could impact a lot of local ranching. April is usually wet here but the long range forecast is warmer than normal and dry. It’s weather. Posted by: Pete Bog at March 28, 2026 04:41 AM (eCt/m) 20
Winter grass growth was pretty weak. There is normally a first cutting by now but that hasn't happened. I expect my cubed hay price to go up again soon.

These companies and their marketing and programming are nutso. I have a portable standup speaker I can use at home or the jobsite, marketed as the Partybox. It shuts itself down into some power-save mode constantly. WTF?

Yemen foolishly believes they can block the Red Sea. This may be where the Saudis direct their involvement.

The deer that I saw yesterday were waiting for me when I was filling the bird feeders. They seemed to know the sound of cracked corn hitting the ground.
I went back in and got more corn. They retreated a bit when I came back out, but I assume they are happily munching away. Posted by: fluffy at March 28, 2026 05:25 AM (AN2gy) Posted by: fluffy at March 28, 2026 05:26 AM (AN2gy) 34
