I can ride a horse. Not with style, but I can and we had horses on the farm. Tony, my first, only wanted to ride the perimeter trail back to his trough and we jumped (by accident) a woodpile once.
My father once showed up with a retired policeman friend he knew to keep his horse. This horse, Fred, and I would stand in the driveway looking at the road. He was a tall horse and did not participate with my commands. He was nice but we rode nowhere but looked good. I once rode a 15mi mountain ridge and back with a Navajo princess who knew what she was doing. My horse followed hers and I lived to tell the story and amazing adventure. Sore for two days. Before that I tried, and did not do well, to ride with an English saddle (like the one above) around Hyde Park in London. A girl I didn't know talked me into that during our English trip. This horse wanted to simply gallop back to his stable of rentals and eat. I made an arse of myself (I do this now and then) with many nannies and strangers pointing at me laughing. Totally out of and beyond my control, but I stayed on the horse, bouncing a lot. The lovely green park was a blur. It was the worst ride, ever, of any skill I had. Re birth certificate: Because my mother was not an idiot, she gave me my original birth certificate and a notarized duplicate when I moved out on my own. I had to provide it to my employer for my first real (professional) job. Don't remember if I needed it to get a new driver's license in TX when I moved there--my prior driver's license may have been good enough for them. At any rate, I had assumed that this was pretty much normal behavior for everybody (i.e., act like an adult and have your shit in order), but modern Democrats are a different breed (perhaps not even human).

Posted by: illiniwek at March 24, 2026 07:48 PM (vbXSk) --- The Ark of the Covenant was just a box with some things in it. A pretty box, but just a box. It was important because God liked to come down and rest there among His people. The Ark was either lost or hidden (Ethiopia says they have it and no, you can't see it.) Anyhow, it was ultimately replaced by the Theotokos, which the New Ark, also know as the Blessed Virgin Mary. This rendered the Ark of the Covenant even more superfluous. With the "grail", the supposed cup used at the last supper, no one at the time would have seen it as anything as a memento. It wasn't a part of their culture to do anything else. It wasn't until after the fall and a new dark and superstitious age comes that European culture comes to be fascinated by Magic and magical things, possibly a remnant of the old barbarian cultures whose people were now dominant. The polling memo also noted that nearly 58 percent of Rep. Wesley Hunt’s supporters are now backing Paxton, suggesting consolidation among non-Cornyn voters following the March 3 primary. The survey further indicates a relatively firm electorate: 88.1 percent of respondents say they are certain to vote, while 78.7 percent describe their choice as definite. Our son, M, rode horses in MI with a 4-H Therapeutic group.
He rode for about 16 or do years and he loved it. Two seasons, Fall and Spring, and then they would compete at the fair. We have a display of his rosettes and medals in his room. He's very proud of them. He's not a big person, 5'4'" but has no fear of horses. He rode some pretty big ones in the therapy. He actually had a horse fall asleep while they were waiting their turn at whatever the exercise was. Here in this corner of Indiana there is only one place that does therapeutic riding and it is very difficult to get a spot. Posted by: TecumsehTea at March 24, 2026 08:12 PM (nz1sK) 102

Just out of curiosity I went to my county recorder's website and sure enough - The County Recorder's function is to maintain permanent public records involving a wide variety of instruments. These documents detail transactions involved in: real estate, personal property, mortgages, liens, leases, subdivision plats, military discharges, Public Official bonds, etc. Generally, all of these instruments are recorded either for giving legal public notice of their existence or for safekeeping and future reference. If they can enter our airports and intimidate people, what's to keep them from entering our polling places. This is the beginning and how we react will determine what they do in the future. Republicans pray to their God that the American people do not wake up from this nightmare. Otherwise, there would be hell to pay. Democrats have offered to fund TSA separately in order to keep the air traffic moving, but Republicans have voted it down several times, at the orders of their leader, Donald J Trump. There is presently a full-scale attack on our voting system and the Republicans are putting their faith in Donald Trump to save their jobs and careers, by whatever means necessary. Therapeutic riding has so many wonderful benefits. The whole program was wonderful. Watching these disabled and challenged kids climb (or be lifted) up on those beautiful animals was so moving. All the volunteer time, effort, hauling the horses, getting the training -- it was a LOT of work, but it was done with love.
M misses it. He did some therapeutic work at a local ranch that provides therapy to kids with PTSD, autism, mental and emotional issues. The move during covid just about undid our kid, but grooming and interacting with the horses, feeding the other animals, mucking out stalls helped him so much. No riding there, though. The thing with 10mm is that the platforms that use it aren't particularly interesting or unique, and it's just a little spicier than .40 and costs more.
An alternative way to consider 10mm / .40 S&W is to recall that the 'S&W' in this instance stands for 'Short & Weak'. Yes, the 10mm generally available is downloaded, unfortunately, but handloading, and certain cartridges (such as available from Buffalo Bore) remedy that. Properly loaded, 10mm can approach the lower edge of .41 Magnum performance. Now .41 Magnum, by contrast not only is super-expensive and hard to find, but so are the platforms that support it, which is why it is the weapon of choice for trust-funders, investment bankers and oil tycoons. Posted by: Ace-Endorsed Author A.H. Lloyd at March 24, 2026 08:23 PM Quality .41 Mag ammo can be expensive. The remedy is handloading. I, personally, don't have an issue finding numerous platforms to support it, but, in fairness, most of said platforms are 30 to 50 or a little more years old, and prices were much more reasonable, if you had the foresight to acquire them, particularly during the shift from revolvers to semis, which devalued revolvers unreasonably. This is in the same class as the (more mythical) Grail, and what interests me is that Greco-Roman culture did not seem to have a fascination with magical Objects of Power.
All three of my nephews are leftist, from what I can tell. The oldest has four daughters, his wife is of two sets of parents, two of them university profs. She proudly declared her "family is a Biden family". Sad because they homeschooled their four "Christian" daughters, and I'm not sure that nephew family doctor is fully on board with her "ideology". They do some Africa outreach. My older sister was also leftist (gone now, life on SSI), but gave our family the three nephews that are successful, but also leftist. The other sister is full blown Karen, retired teacher. Hard to communicate with them without getting into the political (reality) sections of real life. Ben Had...I love horses. I never had lessons from someone like you. Would have helped a lot. My father believed in learning as you go. I can saddle a horse, etc. Ride gracefully, no.
Unfortunately, it was like my first ski trips in college. Boys would take me to the top of a mountain, after showing me how to snow plow, and that is not the choice for your first slope, and difficult blue run. I told them on every trip, "I am from Mississippi, I don't know how to ski." They'd all say, "Oh, you can do it!" Nice to have that confidence in me! I was a po' college girl who could not afford to downhill ski,the passes, equipment or lessons, so we mostly did cross country skiing over the years. An adult with kids before I had a professional lesson and "just like that" it made sense vs a bf or guy anxious for his next run. "Did the girl make it" was probably the question halfway down at the beer place on the mountain. I did have a lot of fun, whether skiing or falling down part of the mountain. Youth is a factor of survival. My grandchildren are on skis from the age of 2yrs with a tether to their father (our son). Ski without poles til about 7yrs. 234 I know -- this is a really dumb question. Do horses have personalities, say, like dogs?

>Yes they do. But they're 1200 lbs dogs with no empathy and lack the pack mentality of dogs. They will fuck you up if they're in a 'bad' mood. A bomb-proof horse is not as common as a lapdog. 205 Lunar Gateway is DEAD, DEAD, DEAD!!!!!
Posted by: pawn at March 24, 2026 09:04 PM (qmOsv) I was a member of the Johnson Space Center team that started the Gateway effort. 2012 or 2013, I've forgotten. It was my primary task until about 2016. The design didn't change very much. Its modular design was made necessary and constrained by how much mass SLS could send to a high lunar orbit. I never expected it to be built. It was interesting work, though, learning about high lunar orbits and working through the design problems. We developed a design that was absolutely feasible, but it had no useful purpose for what it would cost. Posted by: Gref at March 24, 2026 09:49 PM (5rh/l) 254
