Despite Hurting Miniature Senator Rand Paul's Fragile Feelings, Markwaye Mullin is Confirmed as Secretary of DHS
Democrats Preparing Failure Theater on Their DHS Shutdown?

I don't know much about this guy except that I have vague memories of him standing on the open borders/"Comprehensive Amnesty Reform" side of things a few times.

But if Trump thinks he can be browbeaten into being useful, fine, I'll defer to Trump.

Bill Melugin
@BillMelugin_

BREAKING: The Senate just voted 54-45 to confirm Sen. Markwayne Mullin (R-OK) as DHS Secretary.

Applause & cheers break out.

The only Republican no vote was Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY).

The only two Democrats to vote yes were Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA) & Sen. Martin Heinrich (D-NM).

Sen. Ruben Gallego (D-AZ) didn't vote.

MXM:

The Senate on Monday night confirmed Sen. Markwayne Mullin as the next Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, handing President Trump another key cabinet win as his administration moves to tighten its grip on immigration enforcement and national security.

Mullin, an Oklahoma Republican and close Trump ally, was approved in a 54-45 vote, with a largely party-line split that still saw a few notable defections. Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky was the lone Republican to vote against the nomination, while Democrat Sens. John Fetterman of Pennsylvania and Martin Heinrich of New Mexico crossed the aisle to support it.

When Paul was questioning a vote of Mullins', which I think showed Mullins as weak on the border, Mullins said something like "I can see why Rand Paul's neighbor beat him up." Paul made this his primary case against Mullins -- not the vote, the comment about Paul being very punchable. He told Mullins to tell him that to his face, as if he were some kind of tough-guy. This is like a dweeby fourth grader saying "Say that to my face" when in the presence of three teachers and the Vice Principle.

Rand Paul is an unserious pansy bitch and I can't wait to primary xim.

The confirmation caps a swift rise for Mullin, who Trump tapped earlier this month to replace Kristi Noem. In announcing the move on Truth Social, Trump said Noem would transition to a new role as "Special Envoy for The Shield of the Americas," while praising Mullin's record in Congress, noting his decade in the House and three years in the Senate and calling his performance "tremendous."

Mullin, a former mixed martial arts fighter turned lawmaker, quickly embraced the nomination, signaling alignment with Trump's agenda at a department that has become central to the administration's immigration crackdown and broader homeland security posture.

"I am grateful to President Trump for nominating me to lead the U.S. Department of Homeland Security," Mullin wrote on X following the announcement. "I look forward to earning the support of my colleagues in the Senate and carrying out President Trump's mission alongside the department's many capable agencies and the thousands of patriots who keep us safe every day."

Democrats have admitted that they have shut down the DHS to inflict pain and inconvenience on the public, so that their media allies can claim it's all Trump's fault.

For over a month, Democrats have shut down the Department of Homeland Security -- inflicting pain on over 100,000 American families missing paychecks and causing widespread disruption to millions of travelers across the country.

Democrats have misrepresented negotiations in the press, been unresponsive, prolonged the suffering of hardworking Americans, boasted that they are "very serene" about this dangerous shutdown and are now openly admitting they are "making people hurt."

weremakingpeoplehurt.jpg

The Trump Administration has negotiated in good faith from day one to fully fund DHS and avoid this dangerous shutdown, but instead of working towards a solution, Democrats have responded with a list of unserious, extreme demands that would seek to reinstitute Biden's failed open-border agenda, protect criminal illegal aliens, and put American citizens -- and the law enforcement officers who defend them -- in danger.

Let's be clear: these attempts to defund our federal law enforcement agents and border security are unacceptable to the American people.

Trump's Nefarious Scheme to use ICE agents, whose salaries are fully funded, to serve as emergency TSA agents as Democrats ruthlessly attempt to shut down the country is actually working, says CNN.

I don't know if the following arrest was planned in advance or just occurred because Trump had assigned ICE agents to perform TSA duties:

Elon Musk
@elonmusk

I would like to offer to pay the salaries of TSA personnel during this funding impasse that is negatively affecting the lives of so many Americans at airports throughout the country

Allegedly, Democrats are ready to make a deal, though I suspect they're offering a "deal" in the same way Iran's mullahs routinely offer "deals."

Ed Morrissey, quoting Punchbowl DC:

Suddenly, Senate Democrats want to play Monty Hall on the stalled funding package for the Department of Homeland Security. Multiple outlets report that a new deal will fund DHS, except for a slice of ICE's migrant-removal operations. However, Republicans have a plan for that, and that may cost Democrats more than just a little face:

For the first time in more than a month, there's optimism that the Senate and the White House can finally find a path to reopening the Department of Homeland Security. Key Senate Republicans returned from the White House late Monday with a noticeably upbeat demeanor over the state of the talks with President Donald Trump, who had just rebuffed a GOP-backed off-ramp.

The framework under discussion would fund all of DHS except for ICE's migrant removal operations, and could eventually include some reforms that Democrats have been demanding.

Republicans would then try to fund the rest of ICE via a party-line reconciliation bill.

That strategy opens up another option, however:

GOP leaders would also try to use reconciliation to enact elements of the SAVE America Act, which mandates photo IDs and citizenship verification for federal elections. Trump has called this bill his top legislative priority.

Maybe this did it:

I mean, this is simply incredible. Trump just sent in ICE and they DID IT, Americans are grateful!"

I used to be TSA when they first stood up and at peak travel periods a large percentage of our people were doing crowd control and making sure people had everything they needed before they got into a screening line. It makes sense to pass those duties off to other people and let the TSA people focus on their job of screening passengers.

White Karens filming and hassling the agents ... who are brown. The one guy who looks into the camera is clearly hispanic. The other guy looks hispanic too.

So two hispanic dudes, doing their job legally arresting an illegal alien under final deportation orders, are hassled and heckled by white Karens.

22 As I mentioned earlier today, the Dem base thinks they're winning the DHS funding fight lol.

Democrats have tried seven times to get TSA funding and Republicans have refused every time. I'm in the ATL security line now. ICE aren't helping anything. They're just standing around and chatting.

They aren’t there doing any real actual work. They won’t run belts or security they are there because the orange doofus wants to use them as his personal threat gestapo.

Remember, Dems tried to pass TSA funding 9 times to which the Republicans say no. They want their stupid ICE funding and SAVE act to suppress voting. Hold out as long as it takes as ICE is literally killing citizens.

They are not there to assist, they are there to acclimate people to the gestapo. This is theater.

Trump has brought up fort sumpter in tv interviews multiple times. I believe he’s putting all these armed men under his direct control all over the place in hopes that someone, anyone will engage and begin civil war 2. In which case he can declare martial law and retain the presidency indefinitely.

Obama intentionally "made people hurt" by unnecessarily closing national parks and war memorials when Republicans shut down the government.

Yep! Our son flies a lot for business. Few out of DC two weeks ago: fine. Flew out of Houston (which over a decade ago I thought was a strange airport) last Fri: fine.

The news clip on the Hotlanta airport above was interesting.

I try everything possible to fly straight to my destination to avoid Atlanta.

I have news for the Dims: a lot, a whole lot of Atlanta are black people who used to vote Dim.

They see a President, for the first time, ever, fixing problems. Well, what a surprise!

Yep. A lot of those 'refugees' from persecution in the old home country actually fly back and forth to that country frequently. And that alone should mean never being readmitted to the US upon leaving. They lied.

There are always legislators trying to build a brand name for themselves--Rep. H.R. Gross of Iowa was known as the abominable No Man for objecting, etc. to funding bills. Sen. Proxmire had his Golden Fleece. Sen. Mondale was noted as a major critic of NASA spending and IIRC caused a kerfluffle over astronauts taking small items to space and then selling them as a way to supplement their salary.

And legislative leaders make some allowance for legislators to peacock on certain issues in order to fund raise and to raise their electability. At a certain point though, you piss off enough of your colleagues that you are effectively done as a legislator. No one votes for your amendments, no one co sponsors legislation with you, your home town priorities are not funded, then you are simply a figurehead.

Remains to be seen if Rand becomes that as his dad did.

Kent offering to go to bat with the admitted assassin of Charlie Kirk claiming furriners made him do it is akin to jumping the shark.

Boorman, who is still alive, might be the smartest dumb person in movies because he often doesn't understand what he's responding to, like Exorcist II being some kind of response to the original Exorcist that...completely failed to understand what the Exorcist was about and ended up just repeating the same point in crazier clothing.

222 I would email Ed at Delta but he'd think I was stalking him. He answers his own emails. I know this for a fact from recent months over a very minimal problem that most would not reply to. The local customer service lady told me it was him answering my email, not an assistant. They guy is kind but he gets it done. She said teams from 4 different airports got my message after my email and he told them to fix it.

I am a Delta frequent flyer, always have been since college when I flew anything getting me back to college the cheapest, often with 2 stops before destination Crazy.

I would rather fly on my broom than fly Frontier or Spirit. Especially from Ft Lauderdale.

Over a decade ago I flew SW because it was a direct and cheap flight to MS. Then they pulled out of Jackson (who could blame them?). So now to get there we fly Delta straight to crazy NOLA and drive to avoid Atlanta.

My husband flew all the airlines when he was working. Always said Delta was the best. The worst was United.

Son flies Delta every flight, as do we. He flies several times a month for business.

This is unpaid PR for Delta and I do not lie. I may be a whole lot of things, but not a liar.

It is an interesting contrast between Frodo and Sam after they returned from Mt. Doom. Sam was less traumatized by the experience because he continued to have hope and he didn't carry the Burden of the One Ring nearly as long as Frodo.

Frodo had mostly given up by the end. He couldn't come back to the Shire and allow the natural beauty of the world to heal him. He needed supernatural healing and Valinor was the only place he could get it.

281 It's been awhile, but I don't think that Frito Bugger was a character name. Dildo Baggins, however, I do remember.

Dildo Bugger, actually. Of the Bag Eye Buggers. Author of the epic poem "I sit in the corner and pick my nose and think of dirty things."

Its pretty hard to make a stew come out as poorly as Aragorn's reaction and I've made a lot of random stews with questionable stuff in them.

283 If you have any question how much power our garbage media still has to control narratives watch how they report on the actions Jack Smith, the FBI, DC judges and more regarding the the bogus Trump investigation Smith ran. It's on a scale much bigger than Watergate and I'm confident our garbage media will barely cover and to the extent they do they will downplay it.

This what happens when you take away the rum ration and corporal punishment. Sodomy is the only thing left to amuse someone.

286 I now want to see Ace's rocking chair. This will be on my mind the rest of the day.

I think the virus has invaded deeply into mitochondria. The energy part has gone kaput. I will rise again to do something tomorrow. And have a rare nap to recharge/restore/rehab re something. Maybe I just need a V8.

Apparently I can only do one thing a day this week. Yesterday: babysit. Today: eye doc. It's a pathetic parade of pity/irritation.

In nursing skool I had a cold and my then bf/now husband asked me what was wrong. I said thrombocytopenia because I did not feel like discussing it. He got quiet with respect.

I get no respect now (ok, that's a lie, he does everything including driving me to the eye doc when I normally drive myself). Probably to protect the car and innocent people in my path.

288 @ICE helping the ATL airport. I was bumped 2x because of the TSA theatre on sunday night in the international terminal F this was a major fubar by the democrats as nearly EVERYONE was blaming them and the travellers were glad to have any help getting them. There were the "protestors" outside the terminal not travelling but just getting social media clicks and photos. what pestilence

Able Seaman Sian Dowsett, 25, allegedly groped four of her Royal Navy colleagues – two men and two women.
Based on HMS Dauntless, AB Dowsett is accused of grabbing the men by their crotches, stroking their arms, and making comments such as: ‘I like my coffee how I like my men, big and strong’.
She allegedly smacked women sailors’ bottoms and squeezed their breasts, on one occasion asking: ‘Do you like that, baby girl?’

-
At least she was an equal opportunity groper. And she's a 1. OK, a 1- at closing time.

291 honestly, I could give a fat rat's ass about funding homeland security, why are we not applying this kind of pressure to getting the SAVE Act passed, 1000x more crucial to the future of America?

292 that said the delta flying experience was excellent and the TSA fubar is not their fault.

293 Proposal:
TSA agents who show up.get back pay, AND a bonus.
The agents who didn't show up.get bupkis, and the pay that they would have received is placed in a big pot and divided up as the bonus for the real workers.
