Supreme Court Appears Skeptical of Laws Permitting Blue States to Count Ballots That Arrive Days After the Actual Election

It's obviously just farming fake votes to steal elections in the unconstitutional overtime period.

And the Justices appear to believe that when the Constitution specifies an Election Day, it means AN Election DAY, not an election week or an election month or an unspecified election period allowing the printing of millions of fake ballots.

The Supreme Court 's conservative majority on Monday sounded skeptical of state laws that allow the counting of late-arriving mail ballots, a persistent target of President Donald Trump.
A ruling, likely to come by late June, that bars counting ballots arriving after Election Day would send officials scrambling in 14 states and the District of Columbia, just a few months before the 2026 midterm congressional elections to change their ballot rules.
An additional 15 states that have more forgiving deadlines for ballots from military and overseas voters also could be affected.
The legal challenge is part of Trump's broader attack on most mail balloting, which he has said breeds fraud despite strong evidence to the contrary and years of experience in numerous states.

Unbelievable bias. This is the AP, of course.

Trump has repeatedly claimed that his loss to Joe Biden in 2020 resulted from fraud even though more than 60 court decisions and his own attorney general said that argument had no merit.

1, that's all false, and 2, this has nothing to do with the actual legal question at hand, which is: When the Constitution speaks of an (singular) Election Day, do they mean it or were they just joshing?

It's amazing how leftwing communists routinely invent words and penumbras that don't appear in the Constitution, but, when faced with the Constitution's actual words, claim "Oh that doesn't matter, that's like 100 years old, man."

The court heard arguments in a case from Mississippi pitting the state against Trump's Republican administration and the Republican and Libertarian parties. At issue is whether federal law sets a single Election Day that requires ballots to be both cast by voters and received by state officials.
While there was no explicit reference to the 2020 election, several conservative justices gave voice to some of Trump's complaints. Justice Samuel Alito wondered about the appearance of fraud in situations where "a big stash of ballots" that arrive late "radically flipped" an election.

The court's liberal justices indicated they would uphold state laws with post-Election Day deadlines.

Not understanding is a way to shut down argument. Either someone breaks the discussion to try to edumicate someone who doesn't care and it turns into a fight over definitions and what is or isn't spurious to the point, or the "offended" gets to dismiss the argument as incoherent.

Under Bost v. Illinois, a candidate has standing to sue to challenge election law that allowed counting of ballots after Election day.
Overturning lower courts that had said a candidate had to show monetary harm to challenge the law, holding specifically that even the speculation of having to retain staff to potentially contest those ballots was enough to overcome that rule.
They also overturned the rule that judges were using to dodge R challenges, that--without allowing evidence--the judge would divine that the outcome would not be changed and deny standing.

Further, Bost said candidates have an interest in a fair election and a final outcome of the election.

I posit they would not have granted standing if there were 5 votes to say the post-election day counting law was constitutional.

Every two years. My voter registration is good until the end of next year. As is the case for millions of other Texans. At the end of that two years everyone should have to reregister. That way the voter roll purge should be easy.

The time it takes to count votes should vary directly with total number of votes and indirectly with technology advances. LEGAL voter population numbers haven’t changed much. Technology advances have been exponential and better for a hundred years. It should take a minuscule amount of time. Not more and more every damned year. 104 I remember watching a hearing in Georgia after the election to investigate fraud. The people claiming there was fraud, and there was a ton just in Georgia, brought is an election expert to testify.

One of the claims being made by GA election officials was that the electronic voting machines couldn't be hacked because they were even connected to the internet. The election expert took out his laptop and in about 10 seconds he connected to one of the election machines via the internet.

Nobody did anything about it, of course.

What Happened

That's missing the point. If the answer truly is 'no', as in no country as a right to exist, then any and all means are legitimate to wipe it out. Yugoslavia didn't get invaded or conquered, it split apart. That's not a question of 'rights'.

Israel is (theology aside) more legitimate than almost any other nation because of the UN ruling on it being an independent homeland for the Jews. Very few countries have a global consensus on their formation and existence.

243 Great news that Gosnell is dead and in hell! Another weekend I went loco was over him. Calling him a monster does not cut it. I was nearly physically ill reading about his murder clinic, right in the middle of a poor, black neighborhood. Eugenics dream of this says the ghost of Margaret Sanger.

I waded into WaPo to argue about him. At the time I could have a fake email and name. I pretended to be a French anthropologist, spewing facts about abortion, and even told the dummies the title of my study was "WaPo in the Mist."

I rattled off information about Gosnell and they were very polite, with me being French. I was laughing like a loon that rainy FL weekend afternoon. They were too afraid to offend me!

Another time, months prior, on my Benghazi rampage, I told them how wrong the column was and the replies would rise up like fire ants after stepping on their nest. I persisted. At one point, loaded with information they had never seen in the US press, and my timeline of events, one dimwit asked if I was CIA.

Then WaPo wanted a real email and name and ended my entertainment.
