Without Oil, Cuba Is Burning

From John Sexton, the fall has begun.

WSJ:

"Libertad, libertad," shouted hundreds of demonstrators as they faced off against police outside the precinct in Morón, a city of about 70,000 near Cuba's northeastern coast. Protesters then marched to the offices of the ruling Communist Party, according to the Cuban government and videos posted on social media.

Residents threw rocks at the building and tried to set it ablaze. Others climbed on the building's second story and threw papers and furniture into the street, which they then set on fire. At the time of the protest, Morón hadn't had any electricity for 30 hours...

Alberto Echemendía, the head of the Communist Party in Morón, held a rally of "revolutionary reaffirmation" in front of the ransacked party headquarters. "We live in complicated times," he told El Invasor, a regional official newspaper, blaming U.S. economic sanctions for the riots.

My translation:

This is exciting. Freedom is beginning to breath in Cuba. Eighth consecutive night of protests, but it has already begun to be massive. All of the city of Ciego de Avila is in the streets. The city united against the dictatorship.

Eso es mi Trump:

Obama's "Second Brain," the failed novelist and communist who used his fiction-writing ability to create the Iran Echo Chamber, is once again bemoaning the fall of his communist frenz:

Ben Rhodes
@brhodes

This is dangerous, immoral, and illegal - the third government he's tried to overthrow in the first three months of this year. We are in a worst case scenario of authoritarianism.

A lot of the whining from Democraps over Cuba isn't just that they don't want to see fellow commies get fucked in the ass.

It's also that Democraps are embarrassed that Trump is so easily crushing the Cuban regime, after Democraps assured us for 50+ years that the Cuban regime was big and strong, and backed unconditionally by powerful international interests, and there was absolutely nothing we could do about a hostile fascist foreign regime less than 100 miles from our shores.

Trump is embarrassing Democraps by exposing this 50-year-old lie.

As Secretary Clinton testified in March, the United States
engagement in Libya followed the administration's strategy of "using
the combined assets of diplomacy, development, and defense to protect
our interests and advance our values." \4\ Faced with brutal attacks
and explicit threats of further imminent attacks by Muammar Qadhafi
against his own people,\5\ the United States and its international
partners acted with unprecedented speed to secure a mandate, under
Resolution 1973, to mobilize a broad coalition to protect civilians
against attack by an advancing army and to establish a no-fly zone. In
so doing, President Obama helped prevent an imminent massacre in
Benghazi, protected critical U.S. interests in the region, and sent a
strong message to the people not just of Libya--but of the entire
Middle East and North Africa--that America stands with them at this
historic moment of transition.

96 One of the few modern nations that had the balls to rise up against their masters and they have been punished endlessly by their neighbours for it. They deserve much better than the shit they've been put through. The evil empire won the Cold War.

I feel like Venezuela was a new high for Trump and now’s he chasing it but we are at desperate spiral stage. Should be fun!

Trump talks about countries like he does pre-pubescent girls. Hopefully Cuba decides to become a protectorate of Mexico or Brazil before a certain pedophile tries to grab them by the you know what.

Trump: "I do believe I'll be having the honor of taking Cuba." When he says 'taking' there, it sounds like he means sexually assault.

I hate him with every fiber of my being, but the fact that’s he’s right is making me hate the rest of our treasonous, ineffective government just as much.

But he is not right? He expected Iran to be like Venezuela and now he is begging "allies" to get involved in his war.

Last week I went back to reading about the Kennedy administration and how weak and worthless Jack was during the Cuban missile crisis, basically whining to Kenneth O'Donnell and Bobby to fix the situation, running away from the bullies in the Joint Chiefs.

Hookers, drugs, and reading others speeches was about all he could handle.

101 The thing about the grid collapsing - they’re not going to be able to bring it back up, the equipment is too damaged. There’s probably transformers blown all over the place, and they have no spares left.

I think it’s technicallly possible to get a couple of the well off suburbs of Havana back online, but they’d have to cut the links and permanently sacrifice the rest of the island to do it.

At this point, there’s not even any point in trying to bring the grid back up - how long would it stay up, a day? 2? Why bother?

You can argue we have no business taking down tyrants. I get that argument. You can argue we should never risk our military unless a clear threat to America exists, and I get that too.

But no definition of "moral" includes protecting tyrannical regimes headed by leftist warlords.

Nobody thinks taking down Maduro was a morally bad thing to do, except Ben Rhodes, since Maduro stole elections, tortured his opponents, ran drugs, and fomented death and destruction on Venezuelan borders. Same for the Iranian mullahs. And we haven't taken down Cuba yet, but the people of Cuba appear to think they can do it. Another tyrannical leftist regime, rejected by its people, illegitimate and living on only by force of arms, done.

And Rhodes mourns their passing, he supports terrorist, murderous, kleptocratic, illegitimate, tyrannies.

I have for years now been calling for the MLB to create 2 new leagues: Far east and Caribbean. They would only meet to play for All-Star and Post Season games.

Obviously the owners would never allow it, if they could they'd have even more post season matchups and love the interleague games. But if I were in charge of baseball there would be a lot of changes they didn't care for, like reducing the number of yearly games and rounds of playoffs.

Hurricane Maria in September 2017, a Category 4 storm, knocked out power across all of Puerto Rico by toppling approximately 80% of the island’s transmission lines and destroying critical infrastructure. The hurricane caused the largest blackout in U.S. history, with the entire power grid collapsing and leaving 1.5 million customers without electricity.

Puerto Rico’s power grid was already weakened by financial instability, poor maintenance, and aging infrastructure before the storm. The Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority (PREPA) had declared bankruptcy and lacked funds for necessary upgrades, making recovery extremely slow—officials estimated it could take four to six months just to restore power.

There was a national shortage of power line poles because basically the island's whole system needed to be rebuilt.

PR had a good chance with a MAGA-ish president making some real reforms. Ricky Rossello. He's a businessman.

The leftwing commies on the Island got really scared, so he had to go. So they largely invented a big scandal where he was exchanging texts with his advisors shitting on homosexuals, and leftwing politicians, using very crude (but funny) language.

218 Dissident displaced Cubans are one of the most organized and secretive groups out there. They used to be set up in San Francisco, but have since re-located to the Southeast US (mostly Florida, obviously). I can assure you that the full power grid failure wasn't entirely the result of infrastructure issues. It had help internally.

Keep an eye on Cuba's primary agricultural product (sugar cane). It's a pretty good bet that they are going to have an unexpected and devastating bout of "red rot" (fungal infestation) in their next harvest.

We (and Israel) took the same approach with Iran. Only less subtle (since we used bombs to lower the living conditions) and wind up the population. Same result, however.

Posted by: BlackOrchid(j+aD2) at March 17, 2026 02:20 PM (j+aD2)

Between 2004 and 2008 Wachovia moved $378 billion from Mexican exchanges, I am told that Mexico's entire GDP at the time was $1.3 trillion

At least $110 million was Sinaloa Cartel cash, and $13 million of it bought planes that shipped 22 tons of cocaine into the US
HSBC was doing the same thing in Mexico

This is why Cartels are hard to stop, because too many white shoe, international banks are profiting from it. 2008 was the real estate securities market bubble that promised to kill the major banks. It seems that it could have been primed by cartel money, and when it popped, the US Taxpayers got to shell out to save the banks from having to tell the cartels the money went poof.

Cuba falls, without Iranian oil.

The price of oil plummets when a new regime in Iran starts selling oil freely to everyone.

Russia's economy, such as it is, collapses when the price of oil drops.

420 Wow, Boasberg... Chief Judge of DC, is now writing RULES for the DOJ and Grand Juries... calling them orders.

Now, this is interesting because the Constitution says it is up to CONGRESS to write rules for Courts lower than the Supremes... but delegated that authority to the SUPREMES in 1934.

But, under the Tariff precedent they recently set, they said MAJOR issues cannot really be delegated by Congress, if that power is given TO Congress, by the Constitution.

Seems that rules allowing Judges, to give orders to the entire executive branch, only based on Court Rules, not Law, would fit under that precedent.

And this is even a step further down... a regular Fed Judge, writing the rules that the Constitution says Congress is supposed to write.
