11 It uses face detection to overlay what it thinks faces should look like on your game's graphics, adding twenty years to the age of characters while leaving their clothes untouched and sometimes leaving random items looking like they've just been dragged backwards through an industrial recycling facility.

DigitalFoundry did a quick video on YT on DLSS 5.
They said that Nvidia claims that it's machine learning is simply readjusting lighting to achieve the new faces of the game characters, but I find that hard to believe.

It does look like the AI is recreating a path-traced version of in game lighting to give better depth and lighting realism but there's no way it's not recreating faces, especially in some of the examples Nvidia's demo showed.

The example of Grace from Requiem Evil they've been using, is obviously AI re-generated.

It may actually help some games look better, especially older titles.

But Nvidia has to come up with a way to optimize DLSS 5 because very few people can afford a 5090 to run it on.
This seems to be a preview of DLSS 6, which will probably only run on 6000 series GPUs next year.

I've bought from Apple, Best Buy, and Amazon.
Not really much difference between them as far as service, etc.

Sometimes Best Buy and Amazon have sales on Apple products, which Apple rarely, if ever, does.

Best Buy usually adds in some free software or subscription trials to streaming services with their sales. With the Neo they give you Apple News, Apple Music, Apple Gaming, and Apple TV for free trials for 1 to 3 months.

If you get it directly from Apple they usually include a few free trials as well, so really up to you on how fast you want to get it delivered.

In the '90s there was a coffee-bakery in Albuquerque that offered green chile bagels. They weren't greenish in color, just had bits of green chile in them. Faintly spicy. I always thought some place in Da Swamp should have imported them -- people here love spicy.

The coffee-bakery also had chicory coffee, which seems rare outside the South. You could buy it in some groceries in Denver, but people there acted as if it were burned over a campfire. "You like that cowboy coffee, huh?"

I don't think Mark Levin can afford to, since he's in the same attention economy. Although feuding with Megyn Kelly could raise her profile (as when Trump did), it would raise his too, and the opportunity cost could be too much to pass it up. I guess it depends if there's a countervailing cost to his dignity, and how much he values that.

As an aside, Trump is a real natural at that kind of thing. I make an effort to notice the "dog that didn't bark" kind of events, since they're hard to notice by definition, and one is that feud that Trump *didn't* have with Eminem. The rapper tried very hard; he was talking so much trash on stage at his shows, it made the news more than once.

Trump never took Eminem's bait, and that crystallized for me how there were many people he never referred to at all, even obliquely. Journalists only noticed Trump feuding here and there and seemingly all over the place, and never noticed that he was actually very carefully selective, leaving far more opportunities on the table than what he took. And when he did, he mostly benefited as much or than them.

The thing I liked about Amos was that they really grew that character over the run of the show.

He went from a meathead heavy to an almost well-rounded human in five seasons.

I wish they'd have ended that show better than they did, though. The last few episodes were a let-down for me.

So, so many washed up nobodies trying to get traction on relevance again by positioning themselves as "Trump's Rival", hurling abuse and invective in a desperate attempt to catch a volley of return fire so they can claim Victimhood. It doesn't come. But they claim it, anyway.
