Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | Money Center Banks that Pushed the Tricolor Securities Fraud Are Being Sued by the Investors That Were Defrauded![]() In their suit, the noteholders claim the banks ignored “clear evidence” of fraud, including “alarming” 2022 and 2024 audits of the company, because they were earning millions of dollars in fees underwriting Tricolor’s securitized notes. The CPA audits of Tricolor indicated waving red flags, including: • Nearly half of payments received on a given day were posted to the wrong account. • Defaulted loan accounts showed financial recoveries from repossessions, even though the subject cars were not actually repossessed. • Loan delinquencies were inaccurately reported and re-aged so as to show those loans not being in default. The plaintiffs accordingly allege that: • JPMorgan, Barclay’s, and Fifth Third “responded by hiding what they had learned and sticking their heads in the sand to avoid learning more.” • JPMorgan, Barclay’s, and Fifth Third withheld or misrepresented adverse information in offering materials for investors. Per the plaintiffs’ suit, “Defendants fueled and perpetuated Tricolor’s Ponzi-like fraud.” When the Tricolor fraud blew wide open, JPMorgan’s CEO, Jamie Dimon, was quoted as saying ”It is not our finest moment. When something like that happens, you can assume that we scour every issue, every universe, everything about how it could be taking place to make sure it doesn’t take place from here. You can never completely avoid these things, but the discipline is to look at it in cold light and go through every single little thing, which you can imagine we’ve already done.” Dimon added, ”When you see one cockroach, there are probably more.” To repeat what I said back in October, If there are more “cockroach loans” like Tricolor that are about to blow up, it is not an economic indicator, rather it is a sign that banks and investment houses abandoned their underwriting standards in pursuit of woke cred. I’d also argue that it’s not fair for Dimon to blame employees whose “discipline” was lax. While this is only my opinion, I will state with a high level of confidence that plenty of lower-level analysts and underwriters at JPMorgan knew just how uncreditworthy Tricolor was, but senior management pressure for Community Reinvestment Act credits, woke bragging rights, government favor, etc., compelled every layer of credit approver to recommend approval for a lending facility that objectively should have been rejected. Mr. Dimon stated that he was going to look at the Tricolor debacle “in cold light and go through every single little thing.” I hope he did. And if he has not yet uncovered why the underwriting and approval chain felt they could not decline the Tricolor facilities, then the light is clearly not cold enough. As the lawsuit by defrauded investors moves forward, the question I’m most interested in isn’t “Who knew how bad Tricolor was, and when?” Instead, the question I have is why did otherwise intelligent bankers think they had no choice but to consent to promoting Tricolor as a good credit risk when the fraud and lack of creditworthiness were so evident. This racket was always a game of hot potato. All the banks and investment firms -- including almost surely, the plaintiffs in the lawsuit -- knew the loans were very risky if not certain to fail. It was only a matter of when.
But there are potentially nice fat profits to be made on bad loans -- so long as you ain't the last guy holding the hot potato when the music stops. The plaintiffs in this case bet they wouldn't be the last ones, that they would take the profits and unload the dogshit on someone else. They lost that bet. The simplest approach: The Democrats have argued every single vote protection measure proposed or passed since 2000 will disenfranchise millions of voters. Since then *0*....ZERO...have been disenfranchised. That's right, its a proven fact not a single eligible voter has lost the right to vote. So it makes no sense why they would oppose simple ID here, like you need to get on a plane, or to drive, or to get into a government building...until you consider how they stole the 2020 election. Now if every R said something like this... Posted by: 18-1 at March 16, 2026 11:39 AM (sKqQm) 137
A statewide redistricting proposal is on the ballot for a special April 21 election that, if passed, could turn Virginia’s ruby-red 6th Congressional District bright blue.
"Should the Constitution of Virginia be amended to allow the General Assembly to temporarily adopt new congressional districts to restore fairness in the upcoming elections, while ensuring Virginia’s standard redistricting process resumes for all future redistricting after the 2030 census?” To all those smugly doubting if it's temporary: It's literally written into the text that typical Virginia districting standards are resumed after the 2030 census. How much of this can be explained by their attitude that the loans were really just an excuse to bill a lot of people who more likely than not would have been paying and paying for many years because they did not have good understanding of system?
Like the prison phone scams where they charge prisoners $1 a minute for local calls. They do it because they can. The costs or accounting are immaterial -- just keep sending bills to people who have no choice but to keep paying. It checks all the boxes, vulnerable client base, perpetual payments, lots of fees and penalties, they are subsidized by government welfare, and it's "social justice." I wonder if anyone is reporting on it from that angle. These are the attributes that the financiers love. Who cares about things like accounting, just send the sucker another bill and he will pay, he has no choice. Susie Wiles is an incredible Chief of Staff, a great person, and one of the strongest people I know but, unfortunately, she has been diagnosed with early stage breast cancer, and has decided to take on this challenge, IMMEDIATELY, as opposed to waiting. She has a fantastic medical team, and her prognosis is excellent! During the treatment period, she will be spending virtually full time at the White House, which makes me, as President, very happy! Her Strength and her Commitment to continue doing the job she loves, and does so well, while undergoing treatment, tells you everything you need to know about her. Susie, as one of my closest and most important advisors, is tough and deeply committed to serving the American People. She will soon be better than ever! Melania and I are with her in every way, and we look forward to working with Susie on the many big and wonderful things that are happening for the benefit of our Country! President DONALD J. TRUMP

I ordered delivery from Pizza Hut recently… door dash somehow inherited the delivery responsibility. They were a disaster… took more than an hour for the pizza to arrive; they changed to a different driver midway through the process. Pizza Hut farming out their deliveries to door dash just cost them a customer because that experience has me deciding I won’t be ordering their pizza again. BTW the order took so long the pizza wasn’t hot when I got it… kinda lukewarm.

I assume these car loans were mostly for "buy here, pay here" places.
Having been in the car business myself, the way this works is a dealer will sell a car they bought for $3000 for $8000. The dealer will take $4000 in cash, and finance the rest at maximum legal rates. The dealer already covered the cost of the car in cash, plus a little profit, so the loan is just gravy. When the borrower inevitably defaults, the car is repoed and sold again. What Tricolor seems to have done is taken all these loans and repackage and sold them to banks, who then sold them as investment vehicles. Insanely risky. There is good and bad debt. If you borrow to buy a car to just get you to a job, that's probably good debt. If you buy more car then you need to just get to work and you finance it that is likely bad debt. Posted by: 18-1 at March 16, 2026 12:17 PM (sKqQm) 285

This is like the sub-prime mortgage fiasco back in '07 - '08. Everybody knew the banks made bad loans to unqualified buyers then bundled them to investors. Nobody asked why the banks knowingly made risky loans that brought the house down. Nobody remembered reading about the banks being accused all the way back in the early 90's by Bill Clinton and other Dems of 'redlining' certain high risk neighborhoods because they were neighborhoods of 'color'. Nobody remembered the Senate Banking committee - looking at Barney Frank, Shrillary and the JEF pressuring the banks to make these loans or risk losing their federal charter. It was another example of government wasting our tax dollars to address a problem THEY created!

Three calls of phone tag later where they kept saying they couldn't find my pants they just...show up in my mail box one day. Was the alternative guy going to take them until his boss got on him? Where they buried in his truck and he found them later? Who knows... Posted by: 18-1 at March 16, 2026 12:29 PM (sKqQm) 328

There are a lot of voices calling out that Private Equity funds as an industry is balls deep in really bad investments and pulling the same shenanigans that Tricolor has been doing. Since PE is really deep in housing, commercial real estate and marginal companies, the chances are that a Bear Stearns moment is coming and will pull everything they have on the table down as they drag the tablecloth off trying to stay solvent.

If the victimw had been an imam, we'd never hear the end of it but he was a pastor so this is the first I'm hearing about it.
Arizona man who admitted to crucifying pastor asks for death penalty so 'we can move on with our lives' . . . Sheafe, 51, is accused of murdering William Schonemann, the pastor of New River Bible Chapel, in April 2025 before mutilating the man's body. Schonemann was found dead with his arms spread out in his bed and his hands pinned to a wall, authorities said. . . . Sheafe told Fox 10 last year that the murder of Schonemann, 76, was part of a plot targeting more than a dozen Christian leaders across the country in a mission he called "Operation First Commandment." He has claimed that Schonemann and other Christian pastors were leading followers onto a false path. The defendant’s father, Chris Sheafe, told the Arizona Family that his son had become obsessed with the Bible and has a large tattoo of a Hebrew word for God on his neck. "Adam became extremely interested in the Old Testament. He read it extensively. And part of that process became his interest. We weren’t excited when we’d learned that he’d done it, but to have the tattoo," his father said. The award each year goes to the most awful, banal cinematic catastrophe that somehow squeaks out an Oscar for being extra gay or not having any white people in it.
