The internet seems to offer confusing information about Jasmine Crockett about whether she's married or not, but most articles seem to say no. Therefore, I wonder if the security guard who was shot by police for his impersonating a cop is her boyfriend and that's why she or her staff didn't adequately vett him.

69 "King" was not the guy's real name and the shooting occurred earlier this week... via CBS -- Images obtained by CBS News Texas show King standing close to Crockett at events and on the campaign trail during her recent run for a U.S. Senate seat. Sources say he oversaw teams of security officers at several downtown Dallas hotels and at his church. Law enforcement sources also say King drove a replica undercover police vehicle and used license plates stolen from cars outside a military recruiting office. His background – which sources say includes a criminal history – raises questions about how he managed extra‑duty jobs for police officers and secured a high‑level security role for a sitting member of Congress. Fun story/speculation on X overnight about Tucker and Trump - why does he keep getting invited to the White House? Why was he invited to the White House two days before the current wave of. attacks:
Claim; Tucker has been communicating directly with the Ayatollahs government for some time, including giving them info on secret conversations with high level Trump officials; and also that Trump knew this, it had been exposed, But rather than confront or arrest him, Trump was him. 2 days before the strikes started, Trump privately told Tucker that there were no imminent attacks planned, and that the US wanted to keep negotiating. Tucker ran and passed this on to Iranian leadership, giving them the confidence needed to have all the top men meet on a Saturday morning, which allowed Trump and Israel to take out over 40 leaders in a single strike. So Tucker’s treachery was used by Trump to help give the Iranian leaders enough confidence to make a stupid mistake. Posted by: Tom Servo at March 15, 2026 07:32 AM (Mh6s8) 137

154 Crockett's fake police officer on her staff is probably one of hundreds of unsavory characters that populate the Congressional staffer's ranks.
Posted by: San Franpsycho ======== A lot of the scummy types, like Charles Guiteau who assassinated Garfield, float around and are paid for by campaign cash. Most offices have higher standards for staffers and people work there for a time to either get seniority and power by proxy internally, or they go to the agencies for permanence in the bureaucracy or go to K Street for the money. NGOs and their formation is another grift. Campaign organizations though are a different critter, kind of like brine shrimp in the desert. Every two, four, or six years, they make bank at elections, then spend the rest of the time doing things like registering voters, creating poll worker training, etc. often at the behest of party associated NGOs. Especially the Dems. The Dems have a whole floating campaign staff paid for by money pilfered from the public and provided by obscure dark money groups. Dirty deeds done dirt cheap indeed. I figured out that it’s helpful to wait a few more minutes after waking up before trying to type. It also helps to turn the brightness up on the iPad to be able to see the typos. Posted by: Warai-otoko LOL, yes. I've worked for the House, and worked in campaigns at the local, state, and federal levels in my past. My secret shame. But, as I said, campaign organization are spun up and then spun down just for elections--the Democrats have these armies of paid types that do other politically tinged ops during the off season--paying them to protest and meet, show up at campaign rallies as audiences, register voters including non existent or illegal applicants, collect petitions for initiatives and referenda, serve as pressure groups at government meetings (like gay pron in school), etc. The GOP floaters either go back to college, lobbying, etc. but are reabsorbed into the private economy. But the whole talent agency repping is a wide open secret. In some cases, the person is just a figure head drawing a check while the talent agency runs the account including posting. Those agencies also promote their 'talent' to each other, hire bots/paid commenters to boost and amplify via the algorithms, and so on. Public relations meets talent representation. Basically the same setup with Hollyweird where the actors all have handlers from the talent agencies including their politics, commercials, stories about personal life, etc., aimed at promoting the actor as a brand name. As a casual observation, it seems like every bad meme is a perfect opportunity for a good meme. A meme, like any good comedy, is rooted at least to some extent in truth. The "left" can't meme, because the left can't truth. (I'd say the defining characteristic of what we call "the left" is really the fact that they have abandoned truth and reality, in some hipsterish post-post-modern need to always embrace The Opposite, hence my trying to make "ontoclast" a word. They want to smash existence itself.)

Posted by: Another Anon You want good searches, you pay for it. The web got people expecting stuff for free and someone had to pay for it. Originally, it was the investors as tech companies lost money initially but as these matured, they made bank by taking over ad revenues from TV, radio, and newspapers and destroyed the Yellow Pages monopoly as well. So now you have AI searching built on a foundation of whatever public data they can scrape or buy from this early version of the web and as much private content as they can get away with stealing. I like that I can ask Grok something that I'm not sure I remember exactly and it'll understand what I was getting at a large majority of the time. The real question should be - why are search engines shovelling up such useless information? Google famously laid off the Ph.Ds who ran search circa 2018 and replaced them with monetization experts with Hah-vuhd MBAs. This is why I hate cutesy lefty terms like "enshittification": reality is far more mundane, and you should call things what they actually are, not what they want you to. Basically haters of any stripe, Muzzies, anti Semites, leftists, cannot meme well because they are in fact humorless. The type of asshole at a party that says nasty things and then tries to hide under just kidding defense. The nasty things expressing hatred are the tell. Posted by: whig at March 15, 2026 07:54 AM (E4rtv) Grifter cliques (including socialists and Muhammadans) cannot take a joke, since there is an inherent fragility to pushing a confidence scheme, hoping no one points out how to see through it. Sometimes I miss charming grifters, of which Milo may be one of the last extant examples, but that just makes him more dangerous; the flip side of our society's heavy parasitic load is the benefit that they've mostly degenerated to mediocre drones, who are unfit to shine the shoes of their predecessors and cannot adjust on the fly as the environment changes. That is why chinesium slop products are often the top listings which you have to waste your time burrowing down the lists to find something reliable.
I appreciate China giving us the brand name "Nicgiga" though. Some day a tech reviewer is gonna slip up pronouncing that and hilarity will ensue. Posted by: Ian S. at March 15, 2026 08:53 AM (QZThv) 241
232 I admit I got riled up watching Megyn Kelly on X yesterday. Better to just ignore her… better for my BP as well
Posted by: LinusVanPelt ========= Ignoring her is the best policy. If you have X, mute or even block her channel. It negatively affects her algorithm feeds by demoting her compared to others being pushed to others. Muting means you can still see her quoted by others making fun of her. Blocking means total avoidance of Me Again. Posted by: whig at March 15, 2026 08:53 AM (E4rtv) 242

Posted by: Common Tater at March 15, 2026 08:44 AM (Sx7X9) Yeah. Yesterday I tried to find an article that put into context the millions spent by Hegseth for lobster tails and steaks. To win an argument on another blog. No luck after 5 minutes of trying, on several search sites. The first several pages of hits on each were all Hegseth attack articles and opinions. I had to go to past threads here to get any links to context and past history of similar expenditures. From now on I'll come to AOSHQ first to find items that debunk Democrat-Media Party BS. Any honest veteran immediately said that attack was BS. I saw a guy on X say that he was a hard leftist veteran who thinks Hegseth should be executed but lobster tail and steak was sacred and the media should STFU. ===== FWIW, I never thought Milo was charming way back. The guy is badly damaged from child sexual abuse but is likely an unfixable sociopath by now. God's grace might save him but he has to want to change which probably means doing a witness protection type lifestyle change. Apparently he was running MTG's social media account for her congressional office for a time recently which was in part why she veered so far to mASSIE land. But I think the gist of your post is absolutely correct. Ideologues can rarely do humor, or at least widely acceptable humor needed for widely disseminated memes. Search engines have always been about how you are asking. Often trying to match the word choice and content of the person who wrote the article you are looking for was and is helpful.

If we treated all media people with the respect they're due, this country would be in a lot better of a spot. They're always going to be paid too well - everyone loves entertainment. But if the money won't spend in any reputable establishment, it doesn't mean nearly as much.
And if they sleeping alongside dogs and beggars in squalid flophouses where they belong, they're far from influencing the affairs of decent society. Posted by: Yudhishthira's Dice at March 15, 2026 09:02 AM (N8lHa) 253

I'm really good at that, but it's increasingly hard to get around Google's bias towards monetization. That's why using Grok as a filter is a great time saver. Posted by: Ian S. at March 15, 2026 09:03 AM (QZThv) 254

Posted by: Ian S. at March 15, 2026 09:03 AM (QZThv) I have always preferred bing to google. google is better for matching images and doing that kind of search, but bing seems better for typed queries. They all have a layer of AI crap at the top these days (which, in fairness, is not too bad for general questions) but I prefer to do my own summations, thanks large language model. Posted by: Gref Depends on what you want. Kagi is an ad free paid general web search engine. And Grok, Open AI, Claude, etc. all sell subscriptions as do the music and visual arts specific AIs. Lexis/Nexis for law and news. Westlaw, for, well law. HeinOnline for law reviews. SSRN for open social science research (free), Bloomberg for business, etc. First, try your local public library. Some university libraries might or might now allow access to certain paid databases (they often have per seat charges for these). Posted by: whig at March 15, 2026 09:13 AM (E4rtv) 257

The only real arcs of history are demographic and technological; for social mores, the rational expectation is regression to the mean, not progress toward an imagined telos. The Trump administration invoked the Defense Production Act to order an oil company to restart shuttered offshore operations in California, saying the move is necessary to address oil supply disruption risks and reduce reliance on foreign crude.
Energy Secretary Chris Wright on Friday directed Sable Offshore Corp., an oil and gas company headquartered in Houston, to restore operations at the Santa Ynez Unit and the Santa Ynez Pipeline System off the coast of Santa Barbara, according to a statement from the Department of Energy (DOE). _Fox Posted by: Braenyard - some Absent Friends are more equal than others _ at March 15, 2026 09:34 AM (nBZd4) 260

Even the rights in the Bill of Rights may be infringed, as established by the courts. To do so, it’s a high bar (if not consistently high enough) for the government to display a compelling reason to deny a person their constitutional rights.
